Shopper : Does this telescope do tracking well? I am very interested in astrophotography and I am just getting started. I have need of one that tracks well, so what do you think?SCOTTY W : This would not be a good setup for photography. (Maybe ok for planets with a planetary camera) The mount is great for visual. For longer exposure photography you need an equatorial mount and a scope with a shorter focal length. The Celestron Avx mount with a 6 inch reflector would be a good starting point.
Ted A : what is the best camera to use for astrophotography?BOOKER W : Many cameras will work fine, but certain features are necessary. Canon & Nikon DSLRs with full features (bulb exposure, manual settings & video record capable, etc)
I suggest you obtain "A Beginner's Guide to DSLR Astrophotography" available on the web.
Good luck!!TRACI D A : It's a broad question. The very best camera is usually really expensive and shoots black and white only; you get the color by shooting multiple shots with filters. If you want a normal camera that can be used for other things you need to get one that has a detachable lens so you can get an adapter to attach it to the telescope. For myself, I use a Canon T3i for deep sky photos, and a ZWO webcam for planets. You can do a lot with a good canon or nikon.
I'd like to show you photos but that's not allowed with this system. Try googling astrobin and then search for the scope you intend to use, find some photos you like and see what camera was used.BRIAN R : Hi Ted,
Not a simple answer at all I'm afraid. Depends on what you want to photograph. Solar system only, deep sky,.....
Cost can range from a few hundred bucks for a second hand DSLR to tens of thousands......
BrianCARLOS F : For that model telescope, it is best to use a good quality Nikon or Canon DSLR camera body of your choice, with a standard t-mount to 1.25" camera adapter. I also recommend a f6.3 focal reducer as well.
