I bought this telescope for a family member. The telescope itself is pretty robust and the lenses are adequate. The red dot finder is certainly useful, it takes a little bit of fiddling to align the red dot finder for first time use, but once done it performs well after that. It outperforms the Meade reflector even with it's fancy electronics which sells for about twice this price. I know this because I did a back to back test comparing it with another at a Star Party. The general concensus was that the refractor, although less technical was the better of the two telescopes. On my first test I could easily see the banding of Jupiter and that was through the light pollution of Houston. The tripod stand is not too robust, it appears to be, but believe me anything more than a slight breeze and it can soon become annoying. Overall I like it.

This is a poor quality instrument. Poorly made and difficult to adjust because of skimpy controls.

The Meade RB-70 is a new 70mm refracting telescope on a sturdy tripod. This telescope features slow motion control knobs in both altitude and azimuth. This telescope sets up in three easy steps, and is assembled in minutes. It is a quality refracting telescope for land or sky viewing. It's perfect for observing the Moon, planets and land objects like mountains, trees and wildlife.
