Meade 14" Superwedge for 14" LX200 or LX200GPS SCT Telescopes

The Meade 14 Inch Superwedge permits use of the 14" LX200 or LX200GPS telescope in an astronomical, or "equatorial" mode. You can do astrophotography with the LX200 scopes in the standard altazimuth mode but for longer exposure times (more than 5 minutes) an effect called field rotation becomes evident.

Stars at the edge of the field will appear as small concentric arcs or streaks on the film rather than star points. This effect, which in no way relates to the accuracy of the telescopes computer or internal alignment, occurs on all altazimuth mounted telescopes.

To prevent this your LX200 or LX200GPS can be polar aligned by using a wedge. This allows you to align the telescopes axis of rotation with the Earths axis of rotation, negating all field rotation. This wedge is designed for the 14 inch LX200 or LX200GPS telescope - this "Superwedge" is heavy duty for this large scope.
