About Miktek DI-2 Active Direct Box
While the Miktek DI-2 2-Channel Active Direct Box is a high-quality, professional-grade device designed for the direct insertion of a stereo audio signal into a stereo mixer or recorder, it also offers a comprehensive range of DI solutions for a variety of live sound and recording applications. This innovative device can accommodate a wide array of audio signals, including those from guitars, bass guitars, drum machines, keyboards, and outboard signal processors, as well as high-powered speaker outputs from an amplifier.
The DI-2 is equipped with two 1/4" inputs for a music instrument's audio signal, two 1/4" Thru outputs for linking the audio signal to an amplifier or recorder, and two balanced XLR outputs to send the audio signal to the main mixer. It also features two PAD switches for attenuating each channel's input signal and two COMBINE switches for passively summing or combining the input and Thru signals.
One of the standout features of the DI-2 is its GROUND LIFT button, which allows you to detach the XLR jack ground from the DI-2 chassis, effectively eliminating hums and buzzes while leaving the original signal clean and pure. This makes it an ideal choice for recording or live performances where humming can be a problem.
The DI-2 is powered by either a single 9-volt battery or standard 48-volt phantom power. It's designed with a smart power management system that automatically disconnects the 9-volt battery and switches to phantom power whenever it's present on the XLR cable. Additionally, the DI-2 can sense the voltage and choose the greater one when the battery switch is in, ensuring reliable and consistent performance.
With its active circuitry and own power supply, the DI-2 offers an even frequency response on any audio signal you connect to, regardless of its output impedance. This makes it a reliable and durable choice for professionals seeking a cleaner and more transparent sound.
