Questions & Answers

Shopper : Can we use this for our smarttv?ANDREW R : Unfortunately no, this unit is only compatible with Windows based PCs.
Shopper : I see that this webcam has autofocus. I also see that people have troubles with it doing it constantly, and that it uses lots of your computer resources. Can the auto-focus be turned off? Can the focus be set to a specific distance?LORI N : I looked in the settings and there are 2 settings. I think the one that causes it to Auto Focus is the one called Face Tracking and I have that turned off, so the camera is stable. I have it set to Pan and Zoom and so as long as I am not moving around, it stays stable. We use this camera for a meeting each day between 5-9 people and it works fine.TIENHOW S : Yes. The included software Microsoft Lifecam will allow you to turn off auto-focus. The other software I use - tebocam also has this option.ANDREW R : This camera does offer some manual control, however the manufacturer is unclear about the extent of that control and whether or not focus can be "pre-set".
Shopper : Will you need a microphone or is one built in?CAROLE M : Have the Microsoft LifeCam VX-3000 - it has a built -in microphoneLARUE K : The microphone is built into the Webcam.WALTER M : A microphone is built in.SUE M : One is built in

Microsoft LifeCam HD-5000 Webcam

FEATURES: -High Definition - Easy to set up - Built in microphone -Auto-focus REVIEW: I like this webcam, there is however, one problem with one of the features. The feature is the auto-focus, If you want to use your webcam for video chatting or making video on youtube, then you have to turn the auto-focus off. The built in microphone is a good feature to have if your computer doesn't have a microphone on it or if you don't have a headset. I like the microphone because it's easy to use. If I forget my microphone at home and I only have my camera then I won't need a headset (most of the time) The webcam is easy to set up. It comes with a CD that you put into your computer and you put the CD in, or you can plug the camera's USB straight into the computer without the CD. The webcam comes in HD, as you can see in the picture, you have to have a high- speed internet connection and at least 2 mb of space on your computer in order for your webcam to work. Overall, I like this webcam because it's an HD webcam and you have the option to turn off the auto-focus.
