I have always liked the freedom and mobility the Surface tablets have promised but never felt Microsoft fully delivered on what I personally wanted and needed. They did this time in a big way with the Surface Go. It exactly suits my needs. The Surface Go is tiny. I have uploaded pictures of mine with a CD case to show the perspective. Carry it with you on the plane or drop it in a bag. It is designed to travel with you. This will be the device I take with me on the road in lieu of my laptop. I will be using it for the same tasks I generally use the laptop for which is office work, using the Office 365 apps, reading and checking my office and personal email accounts, and some media consumption and web surfing. That’s it. The Surface Go handles those tasks with aplomb. Expecting it to do heavy duty tasks like intensive photo and video editing would be defeating the purpose of its design and the user it is targeted for. But what it does, it does quite well. The magnesium case and beautiful screen are of first-rate construction and are a joy to behold. There is no fan, and battery life for me is about six hours. A larger battery would mean a bigger and heaver tablet. The size is just right, and the speed of the computer for my usage was just fine. It was not as inexpensive as I might have hoped, particularly when I considered the extra cost for the type cover, which for me is a must-have. I did not feel confident that the base 64GB device with 4GB of RAM would be enough to suit my needs. Adorama had a great price for the 128GB model with 8GB of RAM, and I bit. I am so glad I did. I later acquired the burgundy type cover. I had to adjust to the size of the keyboard. My fairly-long fingers and I had a learning curve but were up to full speed in short order. Convenience, mobility, and utility are everything I need on the road, and this little baby gets the job done. It’s great looking as well. As a matter of fact, you can thank my Surface for this review. I typed it on the Go. Literally and figuratively. I have no intention of parting with it!

I bought the surface go mainly for reading, taking notes and drawing. If you want a tablet that works sometimes as a laptop, then it is a great fit for you.Software: I have tried different drawing/ animation software and most of them works fine. I have installed Blender 2.8 (Beta) and it runs well, without any lag. But the grease pencil on blender 2D mode was not that responsive. I assume that is a software issue. I have also installed adobe animate. And it works just fine. P.S I am using a wacom pen as stylus.Hardware: It is decent for most of the everyday task. You can even watch YouTube/ movies in 4k without any problem. I/O: I loved the usb-c port. As a grad student and a TA, whenever I need to do a presentation, I can just it to show my slides and don't have to carry a laptop.Battery: Battery life is good considering it's size and running full windows 10 (I opt out from the windows S mode to install other softwares).

Great value for the money. Better value would have been to include the cover key pad for a lower price instead of gouging another ($) Handy product!
