The ML150LRX utilizes the latest-generation LEDs, capable of producing an abundance of light while maintaining lower power consumption, a feature unimaginable until recently. However, these ultra-bright LEDs also pose a unique challenge - they generate considerable heat. If an LED overheats, its efficiency drastically decreases, demanding more power to produce less light.
To overcome this, Mag Instrument has developed an innovative heat-sinking technology, a solution that unlocks the full light-producing potential of the brightest LEDs. The ML150LRX is the first flashlight to employ this recently-patented technology, exclusive to Mag Instrument, making it our first thousand-lumen flashlight.
Despite its robust performance, the ML150LRX maintains a modest weight and dimensions, fitting comfortably into the "Mid-Size" category. It is also our first mid-size flashlight to use Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4) rechargeable battery chemistry. This offers greater safety than older rechargeable chemistries and allows for faster recharging, taking approximately 2.5 hours from "dead" to "full".
Designed for permanent stowage in its powered charging cradle, the ML150LRX flashlight ensures the battery never depletes entirely. The cradle, which automatically controls the charge rate and prevents overcharging, can be powered by either a vehicle's 12-volt DC electrical system or 120-volt AC household current. This means your flashlight can always be charged and ready for action.
The improved charging cradle is designed with a strong clamping force to secure the flashlight, even when mounted upside down in a vehicle traveling over a bumpy road. Yet, it also features a new, ergonomically friendly quick-release button for fast, effortless retrieval.
