It's a well made product that can do the job...............but it's WAAAAAY too heavy. It droops too much with every flash I've used it with

Unique design for the lightput. The light, however, requires careful alignment to subject in order to obtain optimal results. The price point is high to fully justify the result.

Well made and versatile. A little heavy but is hearty enough for rugged conditions. Being able to vary the flash concentration is very valuable in creative work.

Works well. The only issue is because of the weight of the magnets and rubber apparatus holding the Fresnel lens the flash gets pulled down. The flash won?t stay parallel to the camera lens, so I have to attach a small wedge to prevent the magbeam from getting pulled down.

I'm new to night wildlife photography. The MagBeam Wildlife Kit is a must-have for night photography and for daytime shadows from far away.

Following instructions I found last summer on-line, I built a large and kludgy one of these. It works but is awkward, somewhat fragile and generally leaves a lot to be desired. The MagBeam Wildlife Kit is a vast improvement. It's extremely well-built and much smaller than my home-made version. It was quick to attach to a Godox TT685s and calibration (making certain the flash winds up concentrated in the middle of the exposure frame) took less than 30 seconds. January temperatures here rose to the mid 50s so I quickly headed to my shaded back yard and was very pleased with the 200mm, hand-held exposures I got during my very first session. Better still, the MagBeam cone holding the plastic fresnel lens is held to a collar that slides over the front of the Godox. It easily pops off for bag storage or will accommodate other MagMod light modifiers. I anticipate spending a good deal of rewarding time with the MagBeam.

Now this is a great addition to my wildlife photography. I had a better beamer flash extender on my last trip and found that I was always having to adjust it. It was prone to being knocked off axis. Now I put it on the Magbeam and don't have to worry.

The MagBeam Wildlife Kit is not fit for purpose i find it hard to believe that the people who have written these reviews have actually used The MagBeam Wildlife Kit. The first level is OK, but, if I extent it out even once the weight of the lens bends the front of the snoot so the light drops below the subject of my photo. If I extend it all the way out it bends so much that most of the light hits the front on my lens, so no light at all. is seen in the photo? Now I need to find some sort of flash bracket that allows for changing the angle of the flash so I can align it with the lens? Like I said not fit for purpose i couldn't recommend it to anyone...

This set up seems to be well constructed. I have only had the opportunity to perform low light test shots inside the home. After adjusting flash strength, the photos appear to have better detail. Looking forward to some outdoor tests. I had no troubles collapsing the accordion cup that holds the magnifier. I plan to leave the magnet on the flash and add the cup when needed.

I used to have another beamer. It never took in place. I have just used the magbeam for a whole and what a difference!!! I had it for all day on the camera. I had also a 500mm and an extender on the camera and I was in the car. I was moving all these pieces of equipment attached together from the seat at my side to the window and back to the seat. I did that for a whole day and not a single time did the magbeam fall out of its position. It's day and night when compared to the beamer I used to have.

I purchased this as an alternative to the Better Beamer which is frankly too cumbersome, slow to set up, flimsy and generally a pain to use especially if you are in the wild when you want something set up fast. Its terrific for birding when you need supplemental light on a bird in a tree and don't want a silhouette. The downside of course is its much more expensive than BB. Its definitely heavier than a BB but doesn't really add any additional limitations to handholding when used on a long lens. If you can manage the lens this won't put you over the top. Once you spend the time to initially adjust the focusing so its parallel to the lens it works quite well and I've found myself using flash more than ever which is the point of any gear. It doesn't do any good in your bag. I use it on a Nikon flash which holds its shape when attached. I don't have experience with off brand flashes and if the weight of the assembly impairs it from their directional focusing.

This item is great for wildlife photography. Extends your flash distance by several stops. Also conserves batteries by concentrating the beam. No wasted energy. Won't detach from the flash like other extenders.

The wildlife MagBeam really really pushes out that light. If you are not getting the results, then you have settings wrong on your flash. Follow the instructions on the MagMod website and then you will see the difference. The only gripe I have is this thing is heavy. SO heavy that it makes my SB800 flash head drop. I don’t like that. MagMod recommends pushing the upper part of the MagGrip from the top backward so that it’s angled. I shouldn’t have to do that. But I tried it and it really does work. I take the MagBeam off when I am done shooting for that moment so the MagBeam doesn’t bounce around while I walk.

The MagBeam Wildlife Kit is a must have for anyone wanting to change the look of their flash. Focusing a beam of light on your subject from a greater distance is great for wildlife and portraits. I shot my 3 old niece playing in the fall leaves this week with this kit and it gives a different look and feel to each photo. By extending and collapsing the flash, I could concentrate on the actual subject while darkening the obscure leaves being throw in the yard.

The MagBeam is the most unique, versatile, innovative and totally awesome fresnel lens flash modifier ever created for photographers.
When fully extended, the MagBeam gives you super-focused light with a hard edge, similar to a stage spotlight. Collapse the MagBeam down one or two stages to create a wider beam pattern while retaining the beautiful shape and crisp edges. Its like having a Hollywood-style fresnel spotlight that fits in your pocket.

With 2 to 3 stops of brighter light, you can use a faster shutter speed for sharper photographs. Go from 1/50s, to 1/200s or even 1/400s. Or lower your ISO speed to improve your image quality. Go from ISO3200 down to ISO800 or ISO400 will give you a dramatically cleaner image. You know this is huge.

Gone are the days of fighting with annoying velcro, sticky adhesives, bulky straps or mad scientist DIY contraptions to secure modifiers to your flash. With two freakishly strong magnets embedded in the MagGrip, you can add and remove their magnetic modifiers in an instant. You'll work more efficiently-and look like the professional you are.
