Questions & Answers

Robie T : what is the correct adapter for this item.. mine is showing using Broadcom NetLink gigibutes ethernet BUT I have a NetGear dual band gigabytes router and the specs state it should be using the Broadcom?DEBRA D : I've been using a Netgear N300 wireless router for a year with this Motorola modem - not a single problem. Tried a Linksys N600 (newer, stronger); it worked but slowed Internet considerably. Reinstalled the Netgear N300 immediately; no complaints. Don't see why the Ethernet connections should be different, buy why not ask a Best Buy expert or phone Motorola Customer Service?NAOMI I K : This should work well with any brand of router or network card.
Barbara R : what router will work?DOLORES G : I am using a Linksys WRT54G, but I think you could use any router with the modem.GOPAL R : I checked with my ISP provider website and this model was in the list amongst one of the supported modem. I purchased this one and plugged in and no difficulties to make it work. It is as simple.HUCK S : Almost any broadband router can be used with this cable modem. I personally have Buffalo Technology Airstation high power N300. I wanted good wireless coverage.JOHN C : Contact your internet provider--they should be able to provide a list of what modems will work with what level of service they provide.MARCUS R : The Router I have connected to it is a NetGear N150 Wireless Router. It's plenty of speed for streaming movies.MICHAEL R : Any wireless router. Just connect an ethernet cable from the modem to the router and set up your wireless network (usually easy guided step by step software that comes with the router) Get a computer geek kid to help you if it's to difficult. This modem works great, anyhow.
Barbara R : I need wi-fi router for this modem?JOE C : You will need a Wi-Fi router along with this modem for Wi-Fi capability. RegardsJAY M : This modem doesnt apply wi-fi.KARL K : Yes, you will need a router if you want to connect wirelessly, or you want to connect more than one device. If the only thing you're going to do is connect a *single* computer using a wired connection, you can run a network cable from the computer directly to the cable modem.WILLIAM B : I bought this modem to receive time warner broadband. It has one internet output. You can use this as you want. I take it to a phone modem. The internet out of the phone modem then goes to a router internet input.JOSE S : You will need a wifi router if you wish to use a wireless device such as a laptop or tablet. You don't need one if you only have one device such as a desktop that usually doesn't have wifi capability. In this case, you connect the desktop directly to the modem with a cable.RAYMOND M : I'm sorry I can't help. I bought that modem for a relative and she did not need a wi fi router. BTW -because of a Comcast requirement I recently had to get a DOCSIS 3.0 modem. I bought the Motorola SURFboard SB6121 and it goes with my existing Cisco Linksys E1200 wireless router.ABHAY K : Yes. This is NOT a router. You will need to Wi-Fi router to get wi-fi .YAZ B : Yes. You will need to connect a router to the modem if you want to set up a home network. The modem has worked reliably for a year.DAVID L S : If you wan to connect wifi devices you need a wifi router. If you only intend to connect it to one computer, you do not need a wifi router.JOSEPH L : this modem does not include a router. if you are building a network you will need a router as well.

Works okay

Installation was easy and it works just fine. You do have call the provider and give them the numbers on the label before installing and then waiting for them to hook up on their end.

Reliable internet gateway

This modem is required by my ISP. It is satisfactory for networking and streaming video but every so often requires reboot (which may be an ISP problem but they say not).

So far so good.

my ISP decided to charge $4 a month for "modem rental" the modem has a 1 year warranty, and cost what 1 year of renting a modem from the carrier cost. It is a no brainer. If it breaks before it becomes cost effective, it is covered under warranty, if it lasts longer, you save over the rental cost.
