Over the years, the Matrox Monarch HDX Dual-Channel H.264 Video Encoder has proven to be an indispensable tool for broadcasters and webcasters. This high-quality, durable, and advanced video encoding appliance is specifically designed to handle the rigorous demands of modern video delivery workflows.
The Monarch HDX features 3G-SDI and HDMI inputs, both equipped with frame-synchronization to rectify any discontinuity at the input. Its dual independent H.264 encoders can be assigned to individual tasks, providing unparalleled flexibility and efficiency. This allows the device to simultaneously stream to two different locations, record a proxy quality file while also recording a master quality version for post-event editing, or use one encoder for streaming while the other records at a higher quality for VOD downloads.
The Monarch HDX's powerful H.264 encoding engine shares 30 Mb/s of encoding capacity across the two channels. Each channel benefits from a robust scaling, de-interlacing, and noise reduction engine, ensuring only the highest quality images are encoded.
When used as a webcasting encoder, the Monarch HDX generates an H.264-encoded stream compliant with RTSP or RTMP protocols. Each channel can stream up to 10Mb/s, enabling you to simultaneously stream to two destinations or set the device for up to 20Mb/s streaming quality for a single encoding destination.
As an H.264 video recorder, the Monarch HDX offers immense flexibility. Content can be captured in either MOV or MP4 files to ensure compatibility with your application of choice. Recordings can be stored locally on an SD card, a USB drive, or remotely on a network-mapped drive.
The Monarch HDX can accept signals from HDMI or SDI sources, and both inputs are complemented by internal frame synchronizers to ensure uninterrupted streaming and recording operations. The audio is also selectable between the two channels of the embedded video signal or the analog stereo input.
The Monarch HDX is a certified "Works with Wowza" encoder, allowing users to benefit from enhanced integration with the Wowza streaming engine. It also supports XML files generated for use with Flash Live Media Encoder, making it easy to connect to popular CDNs such as YouTube Live, Facebook Live, and Ustream.
The Monarch HDX can be controlled and configured via the Monarch HDX Command Center using any device on the network that supports a standard web browsing application. This makes it easy to start streaming, recording, or both from anywhere within the user interface.
In conclusion, the Matrox Monarch HDX Dual-Channel H.264 Video Encoder is a reliable, efficient, and advanced solution for all your video encoding needs. Its robust and practical design, coupled with its powerful features, make it an ideal choice for professionals in the broadcasting and webcasting industry.
