Super Backpack

I got tired of carrying a camera bag, a tripod and other accessories so I went looking for a backpack and I ended up with the rotating Horizon backpack 34L the convenience if you want to grab your camera quickly without taking it off works sublime. And the backpack doesn't feel heavy on your back. The laptop box could have been a bit bigger but yes you can't have everything. I really recommend this bag

Multi-purpose camera bag

I bought the Rotation 180 Horizon 34L pack for a family vacation to Asia with my wife and 20 month old daughter. I was looking for a bag that I could carry and protect my camera as well as carry some non camera items. Traveling 30 hours with a toddler is challenging and this pack was very useful. Once in Asia I switched to my Thinktank Photocross 13 shoulder bag for some street photography.

Good backpack - love the rotation bag - hip strap to short

I took the bag for a hike this weekend. I was able to fit my Sony A7ii with a Tamron 28-75 + Tamron 17-28 + Sony 90 mm Macro into the camerabag - awesome! I´m also happy with the rest of the bag´s size for a two day trip. It fitted a few clothes, powerbank, smartphone etc. + Joby Tripod 5k. Unfortunately i miss a small pocket on the hip strap. And i have to say that the pads on the hipstrap are to short. I´m 75 kilos an the pads hardly come around my hipbones, so the plastic part sits on my bones, which becomes pretty uncomfortable on a day hike. Also a small adjustable strap, or expander on the bottle pocket would be nice. Besides that, i really like it. I´ll keep it, because the rotation concept is awesome and so easy to use!

Travel Bag

I purchased this bag recently for a trip oversees with my family. This will be the bag I use on the plane. I like the option of having room to protect my camera properly and extra room for other travel items such as a change of clothes and snacks.

Just Received - First Impressions

Just received. Heading out off-road/cross-country for next two months end of this month. Purchased two photo inserts (swapping out depending upon daily task) , rain cover (they should include at this premium price), and the Switch Case. First impressions - outstanding build quality. Very impressed with the engineering and thought that went into the design, especially the modular photo inserts and rotational belt pack access. Looking forward to testing. This just may be my "last" backpack ... I have been through dozens as most of us have!!

Great for travel with kids

I’m currently on a trip in Hong Kong with my family and this bag has been great holding my camera gear and all the stuff a parent needs to keep kids going. I get gear and they get water, snacks, clothes, and all the other stuff kids need to keep from going nuts.

almost perfect !

To make it simple, with this backpack, you can access to your gear in 5s (you need to practice to get it right) In the The belt pack I store my Sony a7iii with the Sony 24-105+Canon 50mm with an adapter+filters+5sony’s batteries. For the top half of the bag I stored all my cloths, my huge 15’ macbook (you need to force to get it in). You got 3 other more pockets ! I used them to store all my other filmmaker gears, like my zoom, power bank, hard drives, cables, a book, sunglass and my favorite flip flops :) There is a lot of space in this backpack, I was very surprise to see that all my gear fit perfectly into it. The cool think about this backpack : -Absolutely the Belt Pack rotation, Love it ! -Enough space to store some of your gear and also some clothes, food and other stuff ! -The built quality, feels very solide and it’s confortable to wear ! The not cool think about the backpack : -When the backpack isn’t on your back, it’s a little bit difficult to access to the belt pack. -The look of the backpack is a little bit weird (not sexy) and when the backpack is empty it's just ughh -Missing some pockets and straps inside the top half of the bag to store stuff. -When the to half of the bag is full of stuff, it’s get very hard to rotate the Belt Pack. -There is no place to store the rain cover -Missing some little pockets on the front of the belt pack so we can store some batteries or phone and get to it without rotation the belt ! It's perfect for traveling !

Brilliant but Flawed Concept

The Rotation idea is pure genius and makes working from the bag a pleasure. The concept is let down by the manufacturing. After 8 months and 1000 Km of bushwalking my Horizon 34L is starting to fall apart. The polyurethane backing to the ripstop nylon of the back pack is coming off and making the bag not weather resistant. Mindshift also sell the the pack cover separately which is kind of stingy, but worse is that my copy has also seen the polyurethane backing wear through in only two uses making it leak, which kind of defeats the purpose of it and makes it money wasted. For a fully detailed account of my experiences see my blog entry at https://paulamyes.com/2019/02/15/bags-of-fun/

The Goldilocks of Camera Packs

It's not too big, not too small, just right for a long day hike with camera gear plus jacket, fleece, and a serious first aid kit for this solo hiker photographer. I bring a full size Gitzo tripod comfortably.

A Gear Bag that Works

We own 2 rotational 180 34L bags. We purchased them about 4 years ago. We have used these bags in all kinds of conditions, including; snow, rain, dust, and mud. The bags have been stuffed in the back of trucks, in airplane carryon baggage, and tossed into small boats. They have never failed to keep our gear clean and dry! We consider them to be a integral part of our camera and hiking gear. They are comfortable enough to be worn continuously, so that we feel we never have to take them off while shooting. In the last 4 years we have walked hundreds of miles and worn them comfortably for every mile. We have watched others struggle trying to keep gear together or gather it up in the dark. We simply don't have these problems because we don't have to disassemble our gear to shoot. The structure of the bag is well organized to support camera and the necessary support gear to hike into the wilderness. The bag is large enough to support being out all day. It is comfortable to wear even when it is stuffed and all kinds of temperatures. After 4 years they show almost no wear and we expect to use them for many years to come.

Survived a wet rainforest hike - worthy investment!!

Took my gear on a Costa Rican rain forest hike up Cerro Chato volcano. It rained, it poured, it stopped and the sun came out. We hiked up and down steep, muddy trails. Through it all, my Mindshift backpack balanced the weight of my gear, snacks, water, water filter, and rain coats. The rain cover kept my bag and my gear dry. I loved having my camera at my fingertips when I wanted it, without having to take off the backpack to access anything. Simply rotate the belt bag! This is a fantastic backpack for outdoor photography. I?ve even used this just for hiking without all kinds of photo gear. The shoulder straps and waist belt are comfortable and didn?t rub or irritate me, even with the heat, humidity, rain, or sweat. It?s constructed with hiking in mind! Worthy investment.

Great travel bag

I have had my Panorama for a couple of years. It has gone to Europe, China, and is about to head to South America. I use it as my carry-on. The camera compartment takes a full-size DSLR with a zoom lens attached and compact telephoto, spare batteries, cable release, etc. plus a tablet computer. The camera compartment is packed full, but it works well. The ability to shift the camera from the back to the front is a great feature, as is the ability to take the camera bag along as a fanny pack without the rest of the pack. The top part of the pack has my carry-on essentials. It is packed full when I take it on board, but is does meet domestic and international airline specifications for a carry-on, which is an essential for me. It is the most versitle carry-on bag I?ve had, and it is comfortable to wear. When fully packed, mine is about 14#, so comfortable straps and a padded back that facilitates air circulation is important. I would suggest a rain cover, as the bag is not water-resistant in a heavy rain. In summary, I have no hesitation in recommending the bag to anyone who travels and enjoys photography.

Great Mirrorless Bag for International Travel

I had been searching for a bag to carry a Sony mirrorless camera and three lens kit along with a 13-inch laptop for international travel for quite a while. The rotation 180 Horizon fits that bill nicely and it just meets airline carryon requirements. The beltpack allows me to fit a Sony A6300 with a 16-70mm attached, along with 10-18mm and 55-210mm zooms, external flash, passport, extra batteries and memory cards, everything necessary for an extended day's shooting. In the upper compartment there is ample room to carry snacks, jackets and guidebooks and maps, along with a laptop and/or tablet. It proved to be the perfect bag for travel photography whether doing street or indoor museum shooting in London, or hiking in the wilds of Scotland. An important consideration in urban photography is that I never once had to take the bag off and set it down out of my sight while I looked through the camera's viewfinder or changed lenses, nor did I have to set the bag down on wet or damp ground while hiking. Lens changes even became simple once I got the hang of rotating the beltpack. The opened beltpack provided a stable and secure platform to swap out lenses instead of having to fumble around trying to stuff one in a jacket pocket while making a change. The bag is extremely comfortable and well-designed so you can wear it most of the day and hardly know it's there. MindShift has a real winner with the Rotation 180 Horizon!

It's amazing and I love it

It's a great bag and I hardly regret for what I've paid. Great design and nicely made. The rotation mechanism made it incredibly convenient for fetching gears both in urban exploration and landscape tours, after you get used to it. One tiny bit complaint: the waistbag might be a little smaller than I have thought. I really struggle to fit a full-frame DSLR/mirrorless with lens attached vertically (which is my preference when using shoulder bags. Yes I could fit them horizontally but that would take too much space. I wish it could be only a tiny bit deeper. Also I would like to have the tablet layer detachable. I prefer it in the day pack for more space for my photo gears. Otherwise I would trade the tablet layer for somewhere to hold my filters. Currently I have to put them in the day pack or the top layer, which somewhat misses the meaning of Rotation.

First time out with the Horizon 34L

First of all, I have a herniated disk and my back would start to hurt after an hour with my sling bag. For my first hike with the horizon I was carrying all my usual gear plus a new 70-300 f/4.5, a water bottle and a snack. After 3 hours and about 3.5 miles my back was fine. The pack didn't weigh much, a total of about 13 pounds but I frequently found myself forgetting that I was actually wearing it. I've never had that experience with my old bags. As far as how the bag performed, the Rotation 180 feature is great. Not only were my camera and lenses available, but changing lenses without a third hand is simple with the bag open in front of you. It would be great if I had a camera and one lens. Carrying a number of lenses it's now an absolute requirement. The rest of the bag is great as well. I carried a water bottle instead of a bladder and it was easy to reach and replace while walking. Another plus for wildlife photography is that the bag was completely silent on any kind of trail. A number of very surprised deer will attest to that. The bag could use a couple more features. A clip-on key holder would be nice. Also a pocket on the right side of the waist belt would be handy for bug repellent or a lens cap. I realize that the left side can't have a pocket - it has to slide through the pack - and that's why the rail is on the right but a small pocket... I'll find something for the rail or hang it on the daisy chain. I'm glad I bought it and happy to give five stars.

Not enough reviews on this amazing bag!

I bought this bag last month for a Thailand trip my brother and I are taking in November. It fitted all the needs I wanted as a travel bag and as an equipment bag. I figured I wouldn't use it much until the trip, but thats not the case. This bag is absolutely amazing! Even with my day to day photography needs its mind blowing! The rotation system no joke has increased my work dramatically. Having everything there safe and easy to get to is a piece of mind I never expected. Not only that but besides photography needs I find myself using it everyday just for normal needs. I use it as a gym bag 6 days a week and it holds everything I need with ease! I can't wait to actually put it through some trails in Thailand, I have no doubts that it will hold up with ease. So if your looking for a new bag but have no idea what to go with, trust me when I say I was there as well before I found this bag. Tough, comfortable, quick access to gear, and overall safe for all your things. Amazing product MindShift!! Thanks guys.
