Tight fit, but functional

I think the bag is a 'lil tight but it's nice for photography meets personal. It's a good choice for street photography or on my scooter bringing a minimal setup

Great for quick access

I've loved having this for bringing the camera and an extra lens on the trail. Although it is a bit smaller, so when I bring the camera with the 100-400mm attached to the camera that I all I can bring (except for incidentals like a cloth, wipes, etc.). It is very easy to get the camera to the front and then swing it back having the camera ready to take a picture BEFORE the bird flies away and then swing it back and reattach the belt. I've taken it on hikes and on cycling adventures and it stays in place.

Great Concept

Love the bags concept but the cross body strap is insufficient if carrying 2 lens and DSLR. Strap eats into shoulder and is insufficient as it relates to padding and structure. Decent zipper but should have zipper from either side.

Finally a Useful Crossbody Bag

I've tried various cross body style bags over the years but never came across one that really worked for me. A lot of the "amazing" and innovative features they touted never really impressed me in actual everyday use. The Photocross 13 is working great for me. My main requirement for a bag (or any gear) is to get out of my way. Don't make the photography process any more difficult than it already is. Gear, for me, must serve its purpose without adding any more futzing required on my behalf. This bag does what I want it to do and does it seamlessly, in the background, without any extra effort by me. The fit and comfort when on my back is great. The process of swinging it around to access gear is also easy, without requiring any special effort. It holds everything I need for a short hike or walk about a Leica SL2s and 3 lenses fit comfortably and access is easy. The bag is very well designed and well made.

Perfect fit

The bag turned o ut to be a perfect fit for what I need. It holds either one or two camera bodies and my 24-70 and 70-200 lenses. And on the occasion that I need my 16-35 it fits as well.

Bigger on the inside

I am extraordinarily happy with my new bag. I happily holds my 70-200 f2.8, 24-70 f2.8, 16mm f1.8 and Z8 in a snug and reasonably sized package. Access is good through the top zipper though you must wear it on your left shoulder (necessary configuration.). It was challenging to find bag that accommodates three lenses and body while remaining compact. Pockets and zip panels are all up to my ThinkTank expectations.

Overall, well made, but...

I found the PhotoCross 13 to be very well made and large enough for a variety of items I wanted with me. I could have my Nikon Z with a 100-400mm lens and 2x converter loaded with room for a wiping cloth, granola bar, and a few additional items loaded. There are zip compartment easily accessible for extra batteries, memory cards, etc. My one struggle was if I was trying to carry the bag by the handle, (rather than using the Cross Body straps), the water bottle was at an angle that it could tip out. That was an issue for me, but overall, it's a great bag.

Perfect Size

I do a lot of walking when I shoot and the PhotoCross 13 is a breeze to work out of. It fits comfortably on my back and swing it around front and everything is easily accessible. I had a Turnstile 20 and liked it, but this is a step up. It's obvious that ThinkTank puts a lot of thought into their products.

A Thoughtful, Low-Profile Camera Sling for Ski Days

I bought this bag for skiing at my local resort. Previously, I was just tossing my camera into my CamelBak, and I wanted something more protective and easier to access on the hill. This bag strikes a nice balance between size and simplicity. It's straightforward to use, without unnecessary complexity. One small detail I really appreciate is the flap near the zipper, which I assume is meant to hold while closing the bag. It makes closing the zipper much easier when your hands are full or wearing gloves. One thing I'm always a little nervous about is forgetting to zip the bag fully and having a camera or lens roll out while skiing. I'd love to see a magnetic closure or some kind of secondary safety feature as a fallback. I'm less sold on the bottle holder. I tried carrying a 24-ounce bottle, and it fell out pretty quickly, so I don't use that feature anymore. It's not a dealbreaker, just something to be aware of. Another nice touch is that the hip strap can be tucked away when it's not needed. Loose straps can be annoying for everyday carry or transport, so being able to cleanly stow them away makes the bag feel more versatile and sleek when used off the mountain. I'm always nervous of a strap getting caught in the chairlift, thankfully that isn't an issue here. Overall, it's a solid, well-considered sling that works well for skiing while still functioning as a clean, low-profile everyday bag.

Great sling Bag!

I bought this sling bag in 2019. I've just return from a trip to Thailand. I used the Backlight Backpack 36L to transport my gear, always having it with me. I packed the PhotoCross 13 Sling Bag in my checked bag, and use it each day to carry only the specific gear I need for that day. It is a little worn from constant use, but its remains my go to bag for taking only what I need for that day. I'm already planning to purchase another soon. I own many of your products; thanks for having the best out there!

PhotoCross 13 for the R1

I purchased the PhotoCross 13 for my Canon R1, however it is a bit tight for the camera. No issue with built quality, but I would prefer a little more room.

Quality and Comfort

Have been using the pack for about a month now. I typically carry my Fuji x100v plus the tele and wide lens kit and my Fuji X-T5 with the 50-140 lens. Still have room for a snack on the inside and water bottle on the outside. Usually lash on a lightweight jacket as well. I find the pack both comfortable and functional. Easy to sling around to the front w/o removing for camera access.

I love this bag!

I bought this bag for my recent trip to rainy Costa Rica. It was perfect! I managed to fit my Mac air and my Z9 with a smaller lens in this bag. Other times I hiked with my binoculars and additional gear. Best bag ever!!! Great for airport travel as well.

Finally found it!

Love it! I had previously over the last decade or so purchased 2 different sized sling bags as I upgraded my camera and needed a larger bag. It was convenient but never a comfortable fit or shall we say awkward. Upgraded once again and I got the PhotoCross 13. What a difference to have a well designed bag that is what I needed all along 10 plus years later. Thank you! Well done Think Tank!

What a great sling/day pack for camera

This bag has all the tricks and room for plenty. My Z8 and Tamron 35 - 150 plus my 14 - 24 fits with ease! Add to that the straps to put on the tripod, or jacket or whatever?.. Thank you ThinkTank!

Not using for photography

I've been looking for a sling backpack for quite some time. I travel for work 99.9% of the time. My 2020 Intel 13" Macbook Pro is very snug in the laptop sleeve. My iPad with modern trapper keeper fits in the main compartment very well. Lots of room to spare. The outermost compartment has lots of space as well. Convenient places for cables, wallet and passport. The only thing I wish it had was some kind of snap buckle on the main strap.

Have had this bag for a while, and it is one of the best bags I own for day hikes taking just the right amount of gear. The sling part of the bag works great. Think Tank's customer service is always very helpful. Thank you!

Disappointing

I thought the bag would be perfect for when I'm out on my bike but it just isn't. The bag is well made overall but there is not enough padding on the shoulder strap which makes it uncomfortable, my shoulder will start hurting after an hour or so. This is a major drawback. The bag feels more heavy when loaded than other bags with the same amount of gear. It will also slip constantly to the right when cycling, you have to use to included waist strap to (partially) avoid that which makes things less easy. I also find gear access not that practical because the main compartment opening is a bit short and I often struggle getting the camera out. Overall I was expecting much better for the price.

High ThinkTank Quality, But Subpar Practicality

I got the larger-sized PhotoCross and didn't like this as much as I had hoped. So unfortunately I had to return it. Solid build that is equal to that of my BACKLIGHT ELITE 45L which I love. However, regular camera accessibility wasn't as handy as I had hoped, especially compared to a previous side-entry backpack I previously owned for a decade and was looking to replace. The sling style didn't seem as trustworthy as a two-shoulder backpack if taking it out on the slopes as depicted in its advertising. The waist clip seemed like it might help, but is pretty small and I didn't trust it. I will have to keep looking.

Two bags are better than one!

the 13L has been my one and only bag since starting out in 2023. Absolutely love this bag! So incredibly handy for changing gear on the move and it swallows gear! I carry an R5 with the RF 100-400 mounted and it still has room for 2-3-4 other lenses, depending on sizes, on the ends of the main compartment. Lots of pockets for organizing supporting equipment. Love it so much that I recently added the 10L for my city / street photography with an R100 and the RF 24-105. Now I can have both setups ready to go depending on where I'm heading.

This bag is fantastic!

I have tried so many backpacks and slings it's not even funny, and I have never been happy with any of them until this bag. I bought the Photocross 13 for a trip we were taking to Italy. This sling bag is the perfect size. It holds my mirrorless camera and an extra lens, 3 batteries, lens hoods, tripod and a cleaning kit with room to spare. I carried this thing all over Italy ( several days we walked up to 8 miles) and it was very comfortable. It rained a few days while we were there and I never used the rain cover. All my gear stayed dry. I have had this bag for almost 4 months now and it is as good as the day I bought it. Don't hesitate to order this bag, I don't think you will regret it.

Have had time to use it

I've now used my photocross 13 twice. I'm pleased I got the larger size. My thinking was if too large I can just pack less. But if I buy the smaller size I can't expand it if I decide it's too small. The 13 size is perfect for my Sony a7r3 with Tamron 28-70 zoom, plus Tamron 16-24 zoom, flash + transponder & filters.

5 Years Later - My Take On This Sling Bag

I bought the PhotoCross 13 sling 5 years ago on Amazon. It pains me to write this, but I don't think I will be using my bag anymore. I want to write this review with my honest opinion and give others something to consider before making a purchase. If you are considering buying a sling camera backpack, I strongly encourage you to consider how much WEIGHT, not volume, you are putting into your bag. Unfortunately, this bag inevitably suffers from the same problems every other sling bag most likely has, everything you place in the bag is supported by your left shoulder. Yes, there is a waist strap, but that doesn't distribute the weight as evenly across your body as a double strap + chest crossover. I've used this bag extensively as my main camera storage bag. I've been hiking with this bag, used it as a travel bag, taken it on professional photo shoots, and more. When loaded up with gear this thing hurts! Example: once I went on a 3-hour hike and had it loaded up with about 10 lbs of camera gear, snacks, and water. My shoulder was completely numb after. This bag is honestly not meant to carry much weight and still be comfortable. I don't blame the manufacturers, it's just an unfortunate side effect of sling bags. Especially considering the fact that my camera without a lens weighs 2lbs by itself. Throw in a couple extra lenses, laptop, chargers, accessories, and before you know it the weight adds up quick. If you load up this bag, do yourself a favor and carry it by the handle. It can take it. If you want to wear it over the shoulder, then stick to a single camera & lens, maybe an additional light-weight lens, and a tablet when out and about. However, if you find yourself doing work that requires packing more gear like me, then do yourself a favor and get a ThinkTank backpack with 2 straps. Durability: 5/5 Held up extremely well over the last 5-years. Even comes with a storable rain cover to keep gear safe. Convenience: 5/5 Plenty of space thanks to removable Velcro partitions. Also fits my 14" MacBook Pro just fine. Easy to access camera gear. Comfort: 3/5 Hurts shoulder (will actually make it go numb) if you fill it up with gear. Also, if you put a tripod or even a 1L water bottle in the side pouch, the backpack tends to shift/sag from the extra weight and lack of cross-body support. However, I will give the bag a thumbs up for the adjustable straps to help distribute the weight even a little more effectively. Overall, it's a great backpack if you REALLY need a sling bag. Just make sure you don't need to carry a whole lot of gear - or make sure your gear is light weight.
