I bought this bag for my recent trip to rainy Costa Rica. It was perfect! I managed to fit my Mac air and my Z9 with a smaller lens in this bag. Other times I hiked with my binoculars and additional gear. Best bag ever!!! Great for airport travel as well.

Love it! I had previously over the last decade or so purchased 2 different sized sling bags as I upgraded my camera and needed a larger bag. It was convenient but never a comfortable fit or shall we say awkward. Upgraded once again and I got the PhotoCross 13. What a difference to have a well designed bag that is what I needed all along 10 plus years later. Thank you! Well done Think Tank!

This bag has all the tricks and room for plenty. My Z8 and Tamron 35 - 150 plus my 14 - 24 fits with ease! Add to that the straps to put on the tripod, or jacket or whatever?.. Thank you ThinkTank!

I've been looking for a sling backpack for quite some time. I travel for work 99.9% of the time. My 2020 Intel 13" Macbook Pro is very snug in the laptop sleeve. My iPad with modern trapper keeper fits in the main compartment very well. Lots of room to spare. The outermost compartment has lots of space as well. Convenient places for cables, wallet and passport. The only thing I wish it had was some kind of snap buckle on the main strap.

This sling type camera bag it is an ideal bag for easy acces to my camera plus enough room for my Nikon D750, my 24-70 lens and an additional wide angle. Also provides enough room for additional batteries and an ipad mini. Love it!

Have had this bag for a while, and it is one of the best bags I own for day hikes taking just the right amount of gear. The sling part of the bag works great. Think Tank's customer service is always very helpful. Thank you!

I have tried so many backpacks and slings it's not even funny, and I have never been happy with any of them until this bag. I bought the Photocross 13 for a trip we were taking to Italy. This sling bag is the perfect size. It holds my mirrorless camera and an extra lens, 3 batteries, lens hoods, tripod and a cleaning kit with room to spare. I carried this thing all over Italy ( several days we walked up to 8 miles) and it was very comfortable. It rained a few days while we were there and I never used the rain cover. All my gear stayed dry. I have had this bag for almost 4 months now and it is as good as the day I bought it. Don't hesitate to order this bag, I don't think you will regret it.

I've now used my photocross 13 twice. I'm pleased I got the larger size. My thinking was if too large I can just pack less. But if I buy the smaller size I can't expand it if I decide it's too small. The 13 size is perfect for my Sony a7r3 with Tamron 28-70 zoom, plus Tamron 16-24 zoom, flash + transponder & filters.

I bought the PhotoCross 13 sling 5 years ago on Amazon. It pains me to write this, but I don't think I will be using my bag anymore. I want to write this review with my honest opinion and give others something to consider before making a purchase. If you are considering buying a sling camera backpack, I strongly encourage you to consider how much WEIGHT, not volume, you are putting into your bag. Unfortunately, this bag inevitably suffers from the same problems every other sling bag most likely has, everything you place in the bag is supported by your left shoulder. Yes, there is a waist strap, but that doesn't distribute the weight as evenly across your body as a double strap + chest crossover. I've used this bag extensively as my main camera storage bag. I've been hiking with this bag, used it as a travel bag, taken it on professional photo shoots, and more. When loaded up with gear this thing hurts! Example: once I went on a 3-hour hike and had it loaded up with about 10 lbs of camera gear, snacks, and water. My shoulder was completely numb after. This bag is honestly not meant to carry much weight and still be comfortable. I don't blame the manufacturers, it's just an unfortunate side effect of sling bags. Especially considering the fact that my camera without a lens weighs 2lbs by itself. Throw in a couple extra lenses, laptop, chargers, accessories, and before you know it the weight adds up quick. If you load up this bag, do yourself a favor and carry it by the handle. It can take it. If you want to wear it over the shoulder, then stick to a single camera & lens, maybe an additional light-weight lens, and a tablet when out and about. However, if you find yourself doing work that requires packing more gear like me, then do yourself a favor and get a ThinkTank backpack with 2 straps. Durability: 5/5 Held up extremely well over the last 5-years. Even comes with a storable rain cover to keep gear safe. Convenience: 5/5 Plenty of space thanks to removable Velcro partitions. Also fits my 14" MacBook Pro just fine. Easy to access camera gear. Comfort: 3/5 Hurts shoulder (will actually make it go numb) if you fill it up with gear. Also, if you put a tripod or even a 1L water bottle in the side pouch, the backpack tends to shift/sag from the extra weight and lack of cross-body support. However, I will give the bag a thumbs up for the adjustable straps to help distribute the weight even a little more effectively. Overall, it's a great backpack if you REALLY need a sling bag. Just make sure you don't need to carry a whole lot of gear - or make sure your gear is light weight.

I adore this sling ? I can quickly grab my camera while hiking. Best part is how comfortable it is on my back - I have a scar and it doesn't bother it?yeah!

The bag was used in carrying two cameras with lens while walking around the State Capitol Building in Salt Lake City for the Cherry Blossoms. It was perfect for getting in and out my gear and very comfortable. I will be taking it to Europe for a month while photographing seven countries.

No complaints at all, everything feels great. Can fit 2x 70-200 and another shorter lens mounted to your camera all at the same time. Easy to swing around to your front to open up and swap gear. Great handle placement. Overall very easy to use and can fit some good size gear.

While I use the photocross 13 everywhere, it's become my go-to travel bag for regional or international travel. Once I take out all the internal dividers it is just long enough to hold my Nikon Z8 and 400mm f4.5 with 1.4xTC. I usually have the lens hood reversed on the lens itself, but there's actually room in the main compartment to hold it separately. I love all the pockets for my tablet, extra batteries & memory cards, ND filter, etc. I also like the drawstring for the water bottle and the external straps for tripod or my jacket. For longer hikes the slim hip belt does a surprisingly good job transferring the weight to my hips. I've only had it six months but it should be an essential part of my kit for years and years.

I wanted to add to my original review that the main pack strap works great for me even when fully loaded. With my Nikon Z8, 400mm F4.5 lens with 1.5xTC, accessories, 8" tablet, water bottle and lightweight jacket the total weight is about 10lbs. As long as I spread the strap out and adjust it properly (along with the hip belt) the bag is very comfortable to carry on 5+ mile hikes with some good scrambling. I agree with one reviewer who suggested a quick release buckle would make it easier to take off, as it's sometimes awkward getting over your head.

Lately I've been leaving the big camera and lenses home in favor of lighter gear for long hikes. I love the 13 for allowing comfortable carry of and easy access to a full kit of aps-c mirrorless camera and lenses plus a small drone and controller. I love it so much that I got the 10 to use as a grab and go bag to use for my infrared converted aps-c body and a few vintage lenses, adapters and filters. These are well engineered, excellent quality bags that perfectly fit my needs. They also look great. The sling-style is not for everyone, and I still have backpacks for hauling heavier kits, but for the right use-case, these bags cannot be beat.

The quality is excellent as I expected. The photo shows a mid-size lens and a camera with a lens attached similar to my OM1 with a 12-100 lens plus another same size lens. It is difficult to get the case zipped because it needs about 1-2" or more room. I bought it to take on a trip but can't use it due to the size. I would prefer to return the item as it hasn't been used.

This product worked well for quick access to my camera while wearing the bag - with easy in and out. However, I feel the bag would be helped with a quick release buckle on the main strap so it doesn't have to go over the head to remove the bag. Overall, the bag was very well made.

I honestly thought this was what I wanted, it was perfect, but I"m left handed and it needed to be slung over the wrong shoulder making it very inconvenient. I feel bad having to return it as it was what I wanted, quality, storage etc.

This is my favorite camera/tablet bag for travel. It's comfortable to wear and good for walking. Thinktank also took great care of me when my bag had a problem and got a replacement out to me quickly and without hassle. Great bags and also great people standing behind them.

This camera bag is great for cross country travel when only carrying two lenses plus camera body. Easy to move through crowds, fits perfectly on planes under seat, light weight for hiking and easy access to switch lenses in the field. Top zipper for memory cards or documents

I am write this review on the PhotoCross 13 by Mind Shift Gear after having used the bag for 4 years. When I say using the bag I mean just that I am retired and was looking for a smaller bag than my Mind Shift Gear Rotational 180 Pro. Everyday I am hiking in the desert with the sling some days logging as much as twelve miles. I've read a lot of reviews with some people stating the shoulder strap is uncomfortable digs in and is uncomfortable. Or that it rides up your neck and is skinny. To these people I would say they need to learn how to properly adjust the bag to their body. The only negative issue I have with the bag is when strapping a tripod to it which I often do when out mountain biking. Then it becomes a bit cumbersome. A lighter tripod might be a fix but I just strap my tripod to my bike pack. I've never used the sling with a laptop as I have no need to carry a laptop on my hikes so I can't comment on the sling with a laptop or tablet. I can tell you over those 4 years I packed a full frame D800 with a 70-200 attached along with a 16-35 or 24-70mm lens and still had room for my lunch. During the winter months I had no problem strapping Gore-Tex jacket to the outside. Which brings me to the real reason for writing this review. Like I said I purchased the sling in 2019 and have used it almost everyday. This pass winter while on a hike I noticed the zipper starting to separate (picture included), I used my belt to secure my camera and lenses on my hike home just in case the zipper failed. I sent the picture to mind shift gear the next day just to inquire on the warranty as I knew they advertise a life time warranty on the quality of their products. I wasn't expecting much from them as we all know zipper do fail never seen on yet that didn't give it time to. You can imagine my joy when Mind Shift Gear said they don't usually cover zippers in the warranty but they were going to replace my sling pack and included an RMA and address for returning it. As promised my new sling arrived a few days later and it's been my go to bag for my new FujiFilm X-T5 camera which gives me more room in the bag with less weight to carry. On a closing note I want to say that it wasn't the first first I contacted Mind Shift Gear. After purchasing my first sling bag I called asking if I could purchase a second set of straps for the outside of the bag. They not only sent the straps free of shipping but with no charge for them as well. I only know of one other company that does business like this and that's LL Bean in Freeport, Maine. Being originally from New Hampshire LL Bean was my go to place for outdoor gear and still is even though I now live in the west. Needless to say the sling bag works as advertised is quality constructed looks great with an outstanding company to do business with! Take time to fit it to your body and don't over pack it and it will perform for years to come!

It holds a lot,and lets lenses sit upright because it's deep and I liked that, but the zipper and flap are awkward to use - so it ends up not being as convenient as it looks like it should be. It is well made, did fine in the rain even without the rain cover, has adequate padding and the size was good. The only thing that I don't like is the access.

This is my second PhotoCross Sling Bag and I just love this bag. I have a Nikon Coolpix P1000 and this sling bag makes it so comfortable to carry. Access to my camera is very easy with it located right in front of me when I spin it around from my back. The design work that went into this bag didn't miss a thing - with so many pockets and storage options. I highly recommend this sling bag!

This is the bag that I've been looking for with a couple of caveats. I'm 5'3" and many other packs are just too large for day trips. I like that the camera can be accessed from the side relatively easily, instructions show how to do this. Just enough room to pack my mirrorless Sony A7RIV camera with 28-105mm lens and lens hood attached. Room to spare after including a couple of filters, the rain cover and small items. I can still add a thin, small summer jacket on the top section. Stands relatively well on the ground unless you have a large tripod attached to the pack, of course! I like that there is a waist belt, that was one of my criteria, but most other companies only offer this option for larger packs. There are several things that could be refined: 1. The straps, as others have mentioned, are a bit wide for a people of smaller stature and could also be more cushy in general. I may have to add some padding there. Would be nice if Think Tank offered slimmer options for smaller people. The cushiness needs to be improved. OK with a jacket, not as good with a shirt only. 2. When pack is removed and laid on its side in order to access camera or gear, it is a bit cumbersome as the bag tends to fall to its front. This is due to the tapered design. It would be better if the bag was square or had some other addition to stabilize it from rolling over. The other option would be a top access, however that would mean the your camera would be positioned on the top. This option, however, is not a favorable as weighted items should always be stored in the lower section for proper balancing of the load. 3. General comment: I have not tried adding a tripod yet, however most standard tripods are large for any pack and more so for smaller packs. I believe that using the side pocket and attaching to the side is stable, however it will then likely be unbalanced, as with any pack. It seems that my tripod legs, even 2 of them, will not fit in the side pocket. I will therefore attach it to the back of pack using the included straps, this appears to work, I have not hiked yet with it attached. Not much else that Think Tank can offer to change this!! That being said, I'm not sure that it will be easy or possible to access the side pocket while you are wearing the bag with the tripod attached. Likely difficult to sling over the head once one of the side shoulder straps is loosened. Tripods do have some weight. Not sure that anything can be done to address this, but putting it out there as food for thought. 4. It would be nice if the main compartment could also be accessed from the top, an added zipper perhaps. That way top stowed items could be easily accessed without opening the side zipper to the main compartment while hiking. All of this said, I do really like the bag. It's the only one out there that fits me (smaller size) and is perfect for day trips on the trail or anywhere for that matter!! If some of these items that I mentioned above could be addressed it would end up in my SUPER EXCELLENT category rating!

I haven't taken it on a trip yet but the size is perfect for me as I am 5'4" and can't carry a heavy pack anymore as I get older. I use it for hiking to the beach with my Canon R6 with RF100-500L zoom lens attached and a 24-105 lens stows in the pack also. It will actually allow me to put my big zoom with lens hood attached in the pack when I need to protect it from the elements. With the handy side access it makes it easy to get out as needed. Still need to work a bit on loosening the straps to make the transition easier but it is a great size for me. Also holds a water bottle which is important as well. Look forward to taking it to Norway/Svalbard this summer. Because it is a compact size I cannot carry more weight than I can manage easily and yet it holds what I need. Plus it looks good!
