I have been working on various DIY versions of a tripod holder like this for some time, but am not able to spend the time required on it. This system works very well. The front clips are sturdy, simple, and you can set-up a tripod quickly without unhooking. I'm using this for a much heavier system - a 500f4 lens and full gimbal head. doing the over-the-shoulder method works, but is uncomfortable over long periods. Plus, your camera is back behind you and can get hung-up. It's much safer and more nimble in front of you. The one improvement needed is an easier and more universal way to hook the legs to the pack or a hip-belt. The suggested method of looping through the elastic of the bottom of the pack is not really practical. But, I think with a little work a loop around the hipbelt or even an open stiff "hook-like holster" might work. I'm still working on that, but I'm sure will get it resolved.

I bought this for my Backlight 26L. This is a very safe and convenient way to carry my camera while on its tripod. I used to carry everything over my shoulder, which wasn't always the safest way to carry stuff around. This system lets me keep the camera in front of me at all times, without the worry of dropping everything. It's a great addition to my equipment.

I have carried the tripod by hand or tied in the backpack. When hiking about 2 miles to my favorite spots which was pain in should and back due to unbalanced weight on my shoulder. Now it saves my back and shoulders and I have the freedom in my hands. Thank you for the strap design and the idea.

I ordered this for panorama photography with RRS TA-4 and FG-02 fluid gimbal which is heavier than any regular ball head. When heading towards the spots, I might need to walk more than 1+ miles which I feel heavy and tired when I get there. When using this kit, gives me a lot of freedom on my hands and reduce the fatigue when carrying which I can carry another stuff like filters or heavy lens bag or cart. Thank you for the design and

This is a pretty good solution for having the tripod at the ready without taking off the pack to get to it. The problem I’m having is getting the feet into the strap on the bottom of the pack. The literature says it’s made for the packs that have a bungee but mine doesn’t so I’m using the strap that secured the feet to the back of the pack. It works but I can’t see it and it’s hard to reach.

This is an amazing addition to my Backlight Elite 45L pack! I was initially hesitant before ordering it as I didn’t know how often or much I would actually use it... turns out I wouldn’t even want that backpack without it! It’s a game changer and I regret all the years that I used to just toss my tripod up on my shoulder. This is so much more comfortable and convenient. Highly recommended!

99.9% of using your tripod is getting it out of the bag. I accomplished that by getting a carbon fiber tripod that I can carry on the outside of my bag. Then I found it staying on the back of my Street Walker bag. I got this Tripod Suspension Kit and I can put this on the bottom D rings of my shoulder straps and my camera on the top D rings of my shoulder straps. When I am going from place to place on my shoots, it is very handy to put the loop over the head of my tripod and carry my tripod along while I walk from place to place. When I get to where I want to take a picture, I simply open the legs, sit my tripod down, attach my camera and take my picture. I don't have to extend my legs or lock them down eliminating a couple of steps for when I take a picture. I am very happy using my Tripod Suspension Kit, I think you will be too.

What a blessing this has been when I am on the sidelines as I use three cameras with 2 on a harness and 1 on a monopod. Previously using a lanyard and S-links to connect from the camera body and monopod to my harness. This is such an easier and very attractive quick took to use when shooting at any sporting event.

I have 2 MindShift backpacks and a sling bag. Using the Suspension Kit straps, 1 strap only for each bag, I have the easiest and quickest way to attach and release my tripod. Which is the point really, I mean, all 3 bags are designed to make my camera gear accessible w/o taking off the bags, so why should I have to take the bag off to retrieve and re-pocket the tripod Also I’m surprised that I don’t see any reviewers anywhere reviewing any of these bags discuss what a convenience the Suspension Straps provide for the photographer that is hiking, let’s say, and going from spot to spot (like I do) and setting up a quick shot w/ tripod, WITHOUT having to drop the bag down each time to undo bag straps get the tripod out of the pocket, put the bag on again, and off again to secure the tripod. Why ever carry the tripod in your hands ever again while out and about I love the Tripod Suspension straps. And they are beautifully made.

Was looking for options with carrying my bulky RRS TVC-34L tripod either while wearing my speed belt system (with shoulder harness) or my Streetwalker backpack. As both these rigs have the necessary loops to secure the tripod suspension straps, this is a great way to take the curse off of tripod carry, especially with camera attached. As usual, great engineering with ThinkTank gear allowing for interchangeability.

I so much wanted to like this feature. It's a great idea on paper. The problem is that when I got out in the field I discovered that with my tripod fully extended it's almost impossible to get even one of the legs into the elastic cord on the side of the pack. I would have to raise my tripod way up in the air with one hand, reach around with my free hand at an awkward angle and try to pull the elastic cord away from the bag, maneuver the tripod into an awkward angle as well, eventually sliding the tripod leg in, only to discover that when I want to slide the tripod back out for a shot, the twist locks on the leg gets stuck on the elastic as I'm sliding it out. I CAN do it, but it ends up being way more effort than it's worth. I can easily imagine a great shot passing me by as I struggle with it. Someone with limited strength and mobility in their arms and shoulders could probably never do it. The only way I can see to make it work is to do it like the guy in the video and have my tripod legs fully or at least mostly collapsed, which defeats the purpose of having "your tripod extended and ready to shoot". I guess I'll just continue my old habit of slinging my tripod over my shoulder as I walk. Also worth noting, I wouldn't have even bought this accessory except for the fact that for the 180 professional, I had to get the whole accessory kit if I wanted the camera insert, which the company sadly does not sell separately.

I can't say enough about how much I love the Tripod Suspension Kit. I have gone from dreading taking my tripod on hikes to not thinking twice about it. I can grab the quick shots I need with little to no set up time. I highly recommend this product.

The Mind Shift Gear Tripod Suspension Kit allows hands-free mobility and instant accessibility to your tripod. Custom aluminum hardware attaches the tripod to your shoulder harness with a set of easily adjustable straps.
It was designed to hold much more weight than you would want hanging from your shoulder straps. With the tripod collar buckle doubled back and securely attached to your tripod, the two adjustable straps will easily hold the weight of a large tripod and if desired, a pro body and lens up to 70-200mm or more. Of course, you will want to be certain the camera is mounted properly on the tripod and use both straps to stabilize and balance the load. Lighter camera bodies and lenses will naturally be more comfortable to carry in this manner. Other items that you want to carry hands-free can easily be clipped directly to the straps.
