If you can't afford the Canon version of this lens with Auto-Focus, this is a great and inexpensive alternative. Learning to use a manual lens felt daunting, but within a few minutes I was capturing tack-sharp images with beautiful background blur and bokeh. The more I use this lens, the easier it gets to operate. Well worth the price and extra effort.

Primary use is for Astro photography coupled to acZWO ASI camera mounted on an iOptron Skyguider Pro system. So far, excellent results, sharp across the frame and crystal clear. An absolute bargain of a lens for this type of work, however it would be nice if there was a lens ring/tripod ring for it, along with other lenses like the Samyang/Rokinon lenses. I had to get a lens ring from eBay. Other than that, no issues

Received unit with a blemished lens. Adorama rectified the problem with a discount/credit to my account.

I first bought the mitakon 85mm lens and loved it so I decided to try this 135mm lens. It is another great lens. the build is every bit as good as the 85mm. They are made like a tank all metal construction. With minimal care they will last a lifetime. The images are sharp, with practice, with lots of minute detail. If you have not used a full manual lens then you will need practice but after a little while you will have very sharp images every time. I would recommend this lens for sure.

So I ordered one of these and it works great. Sturdy build quality, feels very solid and well built. As others mentioned it has a LOT of travel on the focus ring, which I like. It's also a very stiff ring, it's not going to move on accident. Not sure if it will slacken up over time. I like how the aperture ring clicks in place. I've gotten some decent results shooting the Andromeda Galaxy with it, as it is a fast lens. Also, I was taking some shots of float planes landing and in the daylight able to turn up the shutter speed to 1/4000 sec. effectively freezing the propeller rotation and water splashes, with no noise introduced by a high iso. On top of that, it has great bokeh. Love it!

so i used this for a four hour photoshoot and it did great! i adapted this to a micro four thirds camera and the rendering on all shots were excellent with pleasing bokeh and full body shots with clean separation from background were no problem. the build quality for the price is great! the built-in lens hood is a nice touch. the focus is smooth and i mean really smooth with no slop or snags. just a great lens for the price.

I must say that I was surprised at how good this lens is for the price. Good build and very sharp at F2.8

Another great lens

A fast telephoto prime, Mitakon's 135mm f/2.8 (II) Lens is a manual focus lens designed for full-frame and APS-C-sized DSLR cameras. Housed within a robust metal barrel, a five-element-in-four-groups design helps to realize sharp image quality while the f/2.8 maximum aperture complements working in difficult lighting and also affords greater control over depth of field for selective focus applications. A new ED glass has been added which has drastically reduced the chromatic aberrations.
The physical construction of the lens also incorporates a retractable lens hood, which serves to minimize lens flare and ghosting for contrast-rich imagery. Additionally, both depth of field and distance scales benefit the use of pre-focusing and zone focusing techniques.
