Mamma-mia, what a lens hood!
This Mamiya is not your average wimpy rubber lens hood. It’s seriously industrial strength. Outer diameter: 106mm, depth: 37mm, rubber thickness: 3.4mm, weight: 43g. Made in Japan.
I use this on my Fujinon XF 18-55mm APS-C lens. I don’t notice any vignetting at any focal length. It is huge compared to the marginal plastic hood that came with the lens. It’s not for discreet street photography, but darned good for landscapes.
The metal wide angle hoods are just too shallow at ~ 20mm. Most rubber hoods are too flimsy. This one is sturdy and deep. For a modest Fujifilm camera, I could only justify purchasing a not-exactly new copy.
Note: the lens hood and box were labeled “55mm” (for the M645 55mm lens fitment), but the hood itself is 58mm threaded, on both the lens and accessory ends.
