I prefer to use manual flashes like these at weddings and indoor events. This flash is very versatile with a great deal of manual settings, you can even set the focal length. One of the nicest features I have found is simply the lack of a battery cartridge, you load the batteries in the compartment just as you would in many TTL dedicated flashes. The Vivitar 285's had a cartridge that you put the batteries into then you loaded that into the body of a flash. Not good when you are on location and you lose/drop/break the cartridge - rendering the flash useless. Great full frame coverage on 1.6 crop bodies from 24-105mm. Long lasting, I shot candids at a wedding reception on set of batteries, no external battery pack needed. Comes with a sync cord, and the trigger voltage is reportedly safe (<6v) for mist dslr's.
