Questions & Answers

JEU R : is it new?DAVID G : Mine was. Adorama states when a produce is used.DOUGLAS C : Of course it is new. These rare batteries last a long time, but they must be used on a regular basis. I have a 20-year-old Metz 60CT4 (197 guide number) which uses this battery for power and quick recycle. If you need it, buy the battery. There is no substitute. Check your specifications requirement.CARL S : Yes it is new and works just fine.
Shopper : Does this Battery Cell come with the Battery or without it?JACI D : I am confused, the battery cell is the battery that goes into a pack.CHARLES R : the cell is the battery only. it will fit in a metz 60 CT and the older 402 battery packs, which i also the charger.even with the age of these lites they work fine with digital cameras.MICHAEL M : With it!JAMES M : I'm afraid Adorama is being vague in their description and accompanying photo. What they are showing is the housing that holds the battery and allows connection to the flash. The battery it houses is the Metz 60-38 dryfit battery. Since the battery alone is $80.00, I can only assume this is only the battery or only the housing. Sorry this doesn't help more, but Adorama needs to be more precise.JAMES O : The picture on the website is actually incorrect. That is just the charger. Not the actual battery.GARNER B : What you see pictured here (Battery only) is exactly what you get when you order the "Battery". You do not get the complete power supply battery holder with connections for flash power cables, shoulder strap,on/off switch, screw mount, etc. Again, Battery only to install in your own flash power supply.TIM C : It is the batteryGAUTAMA V : The battery cell is the battery. It appears that the image on the website differs from the image from the question request email. The web page is showing the 'box' that the battery goes in.Carl L : The Metz Dryfit Battery, as shown, fits into your battery pack. You will only get the battery, NOT the plastic outer pack it goes into that connects to the flash unit with the power chord. Just make sure you have the contacts up so they touch the contacts inside the pack and the small pointer inside is at the middle (dryfit) setting.WALTER G : It is the battery.DWAYNE B : I use these all the time. They are specific batteries for the Metz flashes. This is the actual battery. The battery is charge in the unit itself via a power cord. You can usually expect 3-4 years usage depending on how you use it. Be sure to keep the battery at full Charge when you are not using it. It will last longer and not create a memory. DAVID G : The battery cell is the battery. That is what you are purchasing. Just the battery. It goes inside the housing that provides the electronics for plugging into the flash head and also for recharging the battery. If you do not have the housing, you need it or an alternative that is compatible with your flash head. If you get this item, be sure to keep it fully charged or you run the risk of killing it. Kept fully charged, it should last a long time.GARY G : The battery cell IS the battery. It is not the container which is where you would connect the charging cord or flash unit to container cord.
Shopper : Does this battery pack come with the cable that connects to the flash? If not, how do I get the cable for METZ 58-1?VYACHESLAV S : the picture on web page is incorrect, there is no plastic case for the battery, no cable. Battery only. I was confused also. but price reflects the battery only. This is not a Metz 58 battery. This one works with 60 series (60CT 1 and 60 CT 4). Battery is perfect, hold charge as it should. Great product.Carl L : I've never heard of a Metz 58-1 flash. I have bought the 5320 Metz Dryfit battery for my Metz 60CT-4 and have been since the 1980's.THOMAS G : The Metz 58 series does not use dryfit cell that the 45 and 60 series flashes use. I own four 60CT-4's and the battery cases were sold with the power cord, the individual battery cell was not. The 58 series use AA batteries. I don't know of any adapter that will connect this battery to a 58 series, the voltage is completely different too. The dryfit cell is sold by iteself, the casing you need to use it us usually sold with the power cord, as is the flash unit itself. You should call Adorama at 800-223-2500 to confirm this. Good luck.ERIC K : No,the battery does not come with a cable. You may try Metz directly or eBay for the cord. If Adorama does not carry the cord in the used equipment department you may try elsewhere. EKGAUTAMA V : No. The battery was all that was included. I would imagine the cable would be ordered separately.BRENT K : In my experience, cables must be purchased seperately. The battery cells themselves are still being produced by Metz. I don't believe the full kit/assembly (which used-to contain new cables) is being manufactured any longer. If you need the cables, your best bet may be to purchase as used from Adorama or a similar supplier. Hope this helps. BLUCIA P : Unfortunately the battery they shipped to me was totally dead.....and that was a bad timing surprise as it was needed for a job right then. All my other dealings with them have been just fine though.GARNER B : No, the battery fits into the "Battery Box" which is a 6X8 or so shoulder strap box which has the cable connection slot and the other end of the cable plugs into the flash. I have had my flash for many years and have had to purchase maybe 4 batteries during the time. I use my Metz with a photo eye to trip and use it with a lens diffuser as a side or auxiliary light. Still a very good and very powerful flash. Good LuckDAVID B : Contact Metz online or Bogen and the cable can be ordered.DAVID B : NO - A cable does Not come with the battery. The battery only comes by itself and fits into the powerpack.david m : It looks as if the cable is not included. See if Adorama stocks the cable or look for it on ebay.RICHARD S : The 60 series battery is for the 60ct4 style flash and, to my knowledge, cannot be adapted to be used with a shoe mount type flash like the Metz 58-1. The 60 series battery goes into a battery pack, and the battery pack has a special cord that connects it to the 'potato-masher' style flash. (Google "Metz 60 ct4" and you can see the type of flash the battery is used for.)

Old Standby

The Metz 60-38 battery is a dependable workhorse ; I used the Metz CT 60-1 for many years and it never failed to give accurate and consistent exposures. The battery plays a large part in the overall equation. I am glad Adorama still supports us "Old-Timers" !

This is a great battery

This is a great battery and the only one I've used in over 30 years that I've had my 60CT4 Flash (old school - works perfect with my Nikon digital cameras - don't like TTL for many reasons). Word of caution--- I've bought some that disintegrated in less than 6 months which was way past the 30 day return policy. I still also have ones from 2005 (I date them on the side so I know). AND there's no memory problems like the old Nicads.

No substitute for this battery. Powerful.

My 20-year-old Metz 60CT4 uses it, and it will last a long time with regular use.

Glad they still make them!

Since my flash system is nearly 20 years old, when I discovered that one of my old batteries had died, I was glad to see that these dryfit batteries are still available! This battery provides power for plenty of shots and lasts for years.

Seems to work just fine.

I tested this product at a street festival where a band was playing and my metz 60 ct 4 was able to prove itself as a true workhorse. The musicians loved my pics.

Made my flash good as new

I bought an older Metz 60 CT-1 at a very good price. The battery would not completely charge though, so having this item still available from Adorama made my flash as good as new. It also has a very high capacity that is sure to meet your flash needs.

best battery on market

This battery exemplifies perfection! All batteries should work like this one. Absolutely no memory problems, and will last for a decade of frequent use. The manufacturer recommends that you DO NOT COMPLETELY EMPTY THIS BATTERY OF IT'S CHARGE! You may kill it, just like a car battery. It doesn't take a charge as quickly as a ni-cad, it doesn't recharge after firing as quickly as a ni-cad, BUT... it has no memory, it's still plenty fast, and will last for YEARS. Sports photographers (who need 8 frames a second or so) might think about getting the ni-cad set-up for extremely fast recycling, but everyone else should get the dry-fit.

great battery!

This battery fits all 60 series Metz flash packs. IT WILL LAST TEN YEARS WITH CONSTANT USE!! It doesn't fire as quickly as a ni-cad, but there is no memory problem, and it fires fast enough for most applications. DO NOT empty this battery all the way. You'll ruin the battery, or at least shorten it's very long life.
