Great little flash. Used it for graduation pictures as on camera in both TTL / Auto and manual...sufficient power for my needs. No regrets. Used with Fuji XT2 35mm f2.0

Perfect exposure every time, recycle time is also short and Adorama delivered big time on saving, $ for this gem! As a godox(ad200 with triggers) I can say this little guy is more reliable at delivering the right exposure while on camera.

I really enjoy this METZ M400. The FLASH...Works very well in full AUTO, for my needs... I did the firmware down load which was easy to do. A Mid size compact flash which is very versatile.. A good alternate FLASH then getting the high end FUJIFILM brand.

This is a great little flash. I also own the metz AF44-1. In comparison, much smaller and lighter, but nearly similar (although slightly less powerful) light output. Advantages over the AF44-1 include: - High Speed Sync! I use this on an older GX1 and I can put the shutter speed up all the way to 1/4000th. Note, at these high speeds, the flash become less effective and you need to bump up the flash power to compensate. HSS is only available with the flash on the hot-shoe, so no off camera flash tricks (yet - hss triggers are currently in development for the m4/3 system and I think Cactus already makes one for it). Not sure how this might work on other camera bodies with more advanced flash control capabilities. - Size, obviously. This helps these smaller cameras to be (and feel!) more balanced. - Servo mode. You can trigger the flash off camera using your camera's built in flash. It also has a learning mode for red-eye flash. - Two memory modes for access to most used settings (set one for indoor evening parties, and another for whatever else you want). - Several power steps, all the way down to 1/256 in 1/3 increments (AF44 stops at 1/64 of full power at whole increments) - Video LED with 6 brightness levels What doesn't this flash have? A flash test button. Weird, I know, but I haven't found a way to discharge the unit like most other flashes have. Not a big deal if you ask me, but a little weird still. You can get around that by mounting it on a remote trigger if you need to. The remote's test button will still trigger it (as it should, or a remote would be useless). What else doesn't it have? For better or worse, physical control buttons/dials. Pretty much every function is menu driven. This is in contrast to the AF44 which is pretty easy to control. The other consideration to this flash would be the Nissin i40. In comparison, they are almost the same flash, BUT the Nissin has physical control dials (1 for mode, 1 for power) and a test button. The Nissin also comes with a basic diffuser and a carrying case. The Metz (m400) comes with a small carrying pouch and its own table stand (the Nissin may also come with a stand - not sure). The menu system on the Metz isn't horrible. Once you have selected the mode you want, power is adjusted with the four way thumb pad to the right of the screen. Press up or down to change power (left bring up the mode menu, right bring up the options menu). Build quality is solid. It's definitely worth it, but the Nissin is basically the same flash with a different UI for $30-40 less. Some Amazon reviews have the Nissin breaking down early or having the actual flash mount break.
