I spend many hours getting my video projects color corrected. So I have been dismayed when I have to show them in public and find the skin tones orange or the highlights washed out. I decided to buy a projector that can match my efforts. I purchased this NEC and used it on tour last month around our area. The quality of the image in smaller halls (up to 100) was just outstanding. There are cheaper projectors, but those appear built for powerpoint presentations where color is not critical. I highly recommend this NEC projector. Tons of ports. HDMI in. All good interfaces. Great keystone correction. Comes with a carrying case. Very fast setup. I reserve the last star for the fact that all these projectors have only middling sound quality. This would work for mono and non critical work, but requires external speakers to be truly perfect. I don't mind carrying additional speakers. If you added Bose speaker quality into one of these, it might be perfect.

Bought this for showing my films at various locales. Had been disappointed in color rendition in various projectors and decided I'd just get my own to make sure it was standardized. The NEC NP is superb. Color rendition of my videos are identical or very close to what is on my Mac laptop. Skin tones are beautiful, highlights hold up and shadows are rich and full. It also has a wonderful autofix of keystoning, a great help given that this projector is widescreen so you will likely have it closer to the screen than in a movie theater. If you are looking to get a projector that you can walk into a hall of 5 to 200 and setup and show something that will show off your work in it's best light, this is it. I spend sometimes a hundred hours or more color correcting my work. The last thing I want is to show it on a projector that turns the flesh tones orange, or blows out the highlights. The NEC NP solves that. Works well in situations where light is getting into the viewing room. Additionally, it has an internal mono speaker, but I bring my own external speakers along. Speaker seems ok for small mono output. Takes an HDMI feed with standard cables. Has the usual array of inputs and outputs. Lots of other features I don't care about but you might. My rating reflects that at this price point, this product is perfect.

The NEC NP-M311W 3100-Lumen Widescreen Portable Projector packs great deal of features in its highly portable 6.6 lbs white housing. It boasts an impressive 3,100 lumens of brightness so you won't have to turn out the lights during a presentation. But if you do, you'll see the full effect of its 3,000:1 contrast and crisp WXGA 1280 x 800 resolution.
But we've only begun to scratch the surface. Looking under the hood you'll wide array of technologies that will satisfy the needs of educators, business people or home theater enthusiasts that want a projector bursting with convenience features. The 16:10 aspect ratio is a perfect match for widescreen laptops.
The attributes of the NP-M311W are apparent right out of the box when setting up. Color-coded connections facilitate hookup to your components while AutoSense syncs with your computer's signal. Auto Power On fires up the projector once the signal is acquired. Built-in software contains wall color correction presets so that your programming looks natural even when projected on colored surfaces. There's even a DICOM Simulation function that allows those in the medical field to display accurate X-Ray images. 654 Step Image Magnification lets you zoom in on details to illustrate key points during presentation.
