Excellent update to the ND2700 (which is no longer manufactured). Here are some tips to get started since the User's Manual is not very well organized. 1. Unbox the device; remove the device (ND2730) (keep it powered OFF) and the AC power adapter (charger). Put everything else aside. 2. Connect the charger to the device and then plug the charger into the wall socket. 3. The LED light will glow RED. Charge the device for four to five hours. 4. In the meantime, log onto the NextoDI website and down load the User's Manual, the firmware update (V1.03) and the directions for upgrading the firmware. 5. Read the User's Manual; ignore Section 5 and the words "(without hard disk drive)" in Section 2. 6. After the battery has charged (see Section 8), turn the device on and install the firmware upgrade (follow the instructions). 7. After the upgrade has successfully completed, turn the device off, then turn it back on to make sure that Version 1.03 is installed. 8. Format the Hard Disk Drive (see Section 10). 9. Perform a Data Backup (copy) and Verify (see Sections 12 and 13). It takes 4.5 minutes to copy eight (8) GB from a CF card, and another 4 minutes to verify the data. 10. Copy the files (just downloaded from the CF card to the ND2730) from the device to your computer to make sure that this function works (see Section 11). I copied the 8 GB from the ND2730 to my computer in less than 5 minutes. 11. Remember that the ND2730 is a small Hard Disk Drive. Don't drop it, get it wet, use it under 32 degrees F or above 113 degrees F.
