This kit is back due to high demand, and combines essential, high-quality tools to allow you to scan 35mm strips or rolls as well as mounted slides/transparencies at home or in studio with DSLR or mirrorless cameras.

At the core of this kit is our Pro Film Carrier 35 MK2, our latest and most advanced film carrier for 35mm rolls or strips of film. This carrier works with all conventional 35mm film formats with it's included masks for half frame, standard frame, and panoramic/Xpan formats.

This kit is a perfect starting point for a Negative Supply workflow, giving a wide range of format support for 35mm strips and rolls as well as mounted slides, and can be expanded to cover other formats through our interchangeable film format cassettes with ease.

Need to scan 120 film as well? Simply add our Basic Film Carrier 120 MK2 or Pro Film Carrier 120 MK2 along with its correct adapter plate. The light source included in this kit, our Light Source Mini, is designed for scanning all formats up through 6x9cm 120/220 film.

- Pro Film Carrier 35 MK2 -

Utilizing the same design as the Pro Film Carrier 35, the MK2 has evolved into a more feature rich tool that allows users of other formats to use the same smooth running advance mechanism as their 35mm counterparts!

The Negative Supply Pro Film Carrier 35 MK2 is an evolution in 35mm film carriers for film scanning with a digital camera. The Pro Film Carrier 35 MK2 utilizes the same basic design as the Pro Film Carrier 35 but adds an important feature that power users, labs and lovers of alternative formats will want: an interchangeable roller module. Currently, we have cassettes for 35mm (half frame and panoramic included), 35mm full border, 110, APS, 126 and Minox subminiature with more on the way including 8mm and more!

The interchangeable roller modules will come separately from the cassettes so users of the Pro Film Carrier 35, Basic Film Carrier 35 MK2 and Pro Film Carrier 35 MK2 customers don't need to purchase accessories they don't need. We design all of our tools to be as modular as possible to provide users with the ability to adapt our tools to whatever their needs may be. User replaceable format cassettes and roller modules are a big leap forward and we are very excited to be innovators in the space that allow for a better workflow for many users.

- Basic Riser XL -

The bigger brother of the Basic Riser MK3, Basic Riser XL offers added height, rigidity, and a larger baseboard to work with practically any camera/lens combination for scanning up to 4x5 inch film. Pro features, basic price.

With a maximum riser height of 26in, the Basic Riser XL is capable of scanning 4x5 with up to 90mm (approx.) full frame equivalent focal lengths, 120 film with over 100mm full frame equivalent focal lengths and 35mm film with nearly any popular macro lens. It's designed to support professional systems such as the Canon 1DX and Nikon D5 (or similar), large mirrorless cameras such as the Leica SL, Canon EOS R3 and Nikon Z9, and anything smaller. It will even support most digital medium format systems.

The baseboard is 3.5in longer than what you'll find on the Basic Riser MK3 so it can accommodate gripped DSLR and Mirrorless cameras with ease.

The head is similar to what you'll find on our Pro Riser MK3 with a secure mounting system that uses a t-handle to securely mount your camera. There is a window on the side of the head that gives easy access to the 1/4-20 mounting point and a locking knob on the back of the head to keep it at the height you set. The central column is anodized and quickly attaches to the black powder coated, solid steel base with stainless steel hardware.

Hand-built by our team of craftspeople in California, this device is based on the proven design of our Pro Riser MK3 and as such works to ensure a robust and rewarding film scanning workflow.

- Light Source Mini -

Our all-new Basic Light Source Mini is a high CRI light source boasting perfect light uniformity and industry-leading brightness. The Basic Light Source Mini is more compact, 4+ stops brighter than our 4x5 Light Source Basic, comes in at 97 CRI which is great for both black and white and general purpose color film scanning, less expensive and integrates with nearly all Negative Supply accessories. This light is perfect for users who scan 35mm and 120 film and need a very bright, color accurate light source that's built to last.

Recently there has been a lot of discussion about how CRI and TCLI should be used to compare light sources for film scanning purposes. We'll break it down for you!

CRI is a metric used to tell us how a light source renders color based on human perception. What this does not tell us is how this light will render on film or in our case, a digital camera. The TCLI value will give us a more complete view of color accuracy and more directly relates to film scanning.

CRI is often the metric given when comparing light sources in our industry, though TCLI is perhaps more critical. The TLCI value is averaged from the 24 colors from the MacBeth Color Checker Chart with the maximum value of 100 being the best. Light sources that score a 90 or higher are often seen as high quality light sources that will cut down on post production time.

After extensive testing we've determined the following:
•4x5 Light Source Basic 99 CRI: Scored a 98.3 for TCLI and 99.0 CRI
•Light Source Mini 97 CRI: Scored a 98.0 for TCLI and 97.3 CRI

That means that scans from either of these light sources will show effectively no difference even in tricky color scenes. If you're scanning 35mm and 120 film our Light Source Mini 97 CRI is absolutely the right choice for you.

- Pro Film Carrier 35 MK2 Adapter -
Pro Film Carrier 35 MK2 Adapter Plate for 4x5 Light Source Basic, 4x5 Light Source Basic MK2, Light Source Mini, or 4x5 Light Source Pro. A highly requested accessory, the Pro Film Carrier 35 MK2 Adapter Plate for our light sources allows you to seamlessly mount your Pro Film Carrier 35 to mask off all extraneous light coming from the light below. It also stabilizes the carrier on the light source. This is also part of the two stage adapter plate for our Pro Mount MK2. This is the only part you need if you're upgrading to the Pro Film Carrier 35 MK2 from the Pro Film Carrier 35 to use on your Pro Mount MK2.
