Questions & Answers

Shopper : I would like to know how to get replacement bag and eye covers for my binoculars ?ANDREW R : Unfortunately we do not appear to offer spares for this unit. You may wish to contact the manufacturer.
Shopper : Are you happy with thes binoculars? How do they compare?BARRY G : Very pleased with product After seeing product at sporting goods store, where they only had sample, beat there price at adorama.KAMRAN G : I gave these as a wedding present to one of my best friends for his wedding, so I never used them. He told me they are excellent and they enjoyed using them especially while there were still living on a beachfront high-rise in Florida.WILLIAM W : I am happy with them, they are kind of big (though light) for taking out on hikes, but nice for sitting on a deck or balcony to look out. Zoom is good, but there is a little color aura at the high zoom. This is my first set of real binocs so I don't have anything to compare them to.RODNEY S : I am happy with the capabilities of the Nikon binos but be informed that light falloff is great when you get to the higher magnification . Also stabilization becomes a factor at the higher range. That said they are very sharp glasses.
Shopper : Are these manufactured in the U.S.A.? Thank you.ELLA G : No, they are made in China.JOHN T : I bought these to be used on my road trip to Normandy and Northern France. They worked great, clear and easy to focus. A bit heavy but the weight was worth the results.JOHN M : It doesn't say on the binocs but it is a Japanese company so i doubt it.

I

I often use this Nikon binocular to watch stars at night. I can see Orion Nebula with 22 times maginification, look like a star with 10 times but 22 times, I can see the difference. This Nikon binocular is really handy. I even have a 25 to 125 times mag. 80 mm lens size binocular but it is bulky and not handy so needed tripod. As far as performance and quality, I love this Nikon binocular.

Exactly what I was looking for

I did my homework before deciding on this particular product & I'm pleased with the results. They're actually steadier at the higher magnifications than reviews I had read. The only problem was the dial didn't want to go all the way back to 10x zoom when it had been turned all the way to 22x. It seems to have worked itself out now after doing it multiple times. All in all, we're very pleased with the product

great for the price

The product was as described and received in a timely fashion. This is a quality product and I would recommend to others. The lenses are quite clear and focus easily. My long term use is not yet established but if remains as is I would recommend these binoculars to others.

Great for the price

Primarily used when photographing wildlife in nearby sanctuaries. Bright, clear images make these great for spotting subjects to photograph. I've used them now in two wildlife areas and kayaking once. They're not ruggedized, so be careful you don't drop them. I'll never go back to the $25 big box store optics i've used before, there's just no comparison! Now I'm curious just how much better premium optics like the Monarch line can be, if these are so good.

10-22 Zoom Bino is Good, Zoom No No!

The Nikon construction is 3/5 Particularly the focussing (moving)part of the ocular lenses does not inspire confidence. The Zoom mechanism is ingenius & top class, mechanically speaking. The optics are really good till 18x, then re focussing is required, additionally the inter ocular distance (angle) has to be altered to re adjust to higher zoom. This is obviously causing some eye strain. Focussing at high zoom shows very low depth of field & is extremely difficult to focus. Armour on Body & focussing knob as well as weight are all very good. The ability to zoom in on objects close by at max. zoom is great, but beyond 100 feet approx the 22x zoom is not good as depth of field deteriorates terribly, also the distance between eyes has to be readjusted. According to the accompanying literature: focus the binoculars at max zoom & then zoom out for correct continued focussing. This is positively inaccurate. Overall great Bino to watch close by objects with max zoom, but for distant objects, any zoom above 18x is a complete waste of money. Hence advice if you are looking for high zoom (above 18-50X) binoculars try the fixed not zoom ones, as I am disappointed with this aspect of the Nikon. Apart for these cons optical quality is very good & rest of their body construction is solid. The neck strap is of very good quality. The addition of the tripod mount is thoughtful. Case could be made of waterproof material especially if it is to be carried outdoors.

Planning to buy a Zoom Binoc?

I was most delighted to receive the product so promptly here in New Zealand. Sadly most disappointed that Nikon zoom optics cannot focus sharply at any stage beyond 15X. It is excellent in terms of field of view & viewing angle as well as quality of optics, however sadly I regret having bough the zoom category as any zoom over 15x till 22x lacked quality of focussing with the exception that for close objects the 15-22X it did a great job. However try to focus on a large object like the moon using 22X zoom; it could not show the entire object in focus & the focus was poor, too gross & not expected of Nikon, for some cheaper alternative I would have accepted but not from Nikon. So major setback here is that the zoom after 15 -to 22 is practically useless, for both astronomy & terrestrial observation or it is a defect in mine. Another observation is that the 50mm lense caps are cheap plastic compared to the beautiful eyepiece caps of excellent quality rubber. Also those objective lense (50mm) caps have a split (as the original design)in their strap connector, this may be convenient to load them on to the attached neck strap (of very good quality) however this design will also cause them to fall off while in use. This would need to be looked at or else do not keep the caps on strap. Overall why pay so much for the zoom factor when anything beyond 15x is not worth it. Might as well go for a cheaper 50x50 maybe.
