I bought these for my husband who is an avid birder. He has used them many times already and comments that they are super sharp and that the viewing distance is long enough for his satisfaction. He said he also likes the weight of the binoculars because they aren't very heavy. He seems very pleased!

Well I have the Monarch 3 and they are great binoculars but cheaply made lens covers never stay on. I contact Nikon and they sent me “replacement” covers that came with a snap to snap on. Mine don’t have a snap option. Contacted Nikon again and they never responded. So needless to say I don’t buy any Nikon products anymore. You can make the best binoculars but if the lenses won’t stay covered and protected when out in the woods it’s a complete waste.

Love these binoculars! They are very clear and durable. Even better, I recently had some damage to an eye relief during a recent trip and had to send them in for repair. Process was very easy and I had them back in no time.

I spend many hours in the field each year and while I try to take care of my equipment, I have no time to baby it. I have put these Binos through the mill from out in the Rockies of Colorado atv-ing miles in the dust to sitting in the rain in northern MO, these have never let me down. With quick focus and a very sharp image I would highly recommend. The end caps are even a much better design that most of the competition. I would highly recommend!

I recently traveled to the Aransas Wildlife Refuge (TX) to see some wintering whooping cranes. I had yet to spot one of these endangered beauties and I had but one chance to see them last week. After researching products at this price point, I purchased the Monarch 5 10x42. My trip to the wildlife refuge was the first test of the binoculars. They did not disappoint! Razor sharp, clear, bright and light - all the perfect combination during the 3.5 hours excursion. The whooping cranes appeared and Nikon performed in top-notch fashion.

These are clear and comfortable to use. So far I have used these for whale watching and couple times for birdig and no issues at all. They work well for myself and my wife. I was battling between 8x and 10x and ended up having 10x mainly because they were in stock. I had tested the 8x before and knew what to expect in overall and just hoped that 10x is not too shaky. And least for me they are sre not and extra reach is just fine!

We had a Monarch 5 but damaged them during our move. Sent them to customer service. They sent “repaired” and sent them back without a fee. Not even for shipping. Excellent customer service and excited to spot some more fine feathered friends.

I've always had a problem with binoculars because I wear glasses and the eyepieces never came close enough to my eyes. Using them without my glasses just didn't work. I had an operation for cataracts about 2 years ago and since I see much better without glasses, figured it was time for a better set of binoculars. After considerable research, I decided the Monarch 10 X 42 were the best compromise on price and quality. These are great, easy to use, light and of outstanding quality, as is all of Nikon's products. I can recommend these binoculars to anyone who enjoys bird watching, viewing landscapes or at sporting events.

I have several optical devices I use for hunting. I have 2 NIKON scopes and a pair of these binoculars. My Monarchs are probably 15 + years old. They replaced (free of charge) one of the eye adjusting cups once and I just lost another one. So I called in to order the part and they told me that I would have to send them in. He told me they have a lifetime warranty so there is no charge. He said, since they are older, if they cannot find the part they will send me a new pair free of charge. TELL ME WHERE YOU CAN BEAT THAT SERVICE!!! Buy them you will never regret the purchase...great for ball games also. I will add that I shopped hard, when deer hunting, for a pair of binocs. I bought a high dollar pair of ( no name) a well know brand, took both of them home, side by side, at dusk, and felt the NIKON pair gathered more light than the $1400 pair..HONEST! So I returned the high dollar ones and never looked back. Have several hunting buddies that have the same binoculars. You can't beat them.

The price is not bad for the quality of the optics on these binoculars, love the ED Glass feature. The warranty is phenomenal.

I use the binoculars mainly for viewing wildlife including birds and butterflies. The best features are: - very lightweight compared to other binoculars and also waterproof - this important when taking them hiking - Very sharp image - Close focus great for identifying butterflies and dragonflies - I like the capability to adjust the eyepieces to allow me to wear my glasses Somewhat narrow field of view and some more expensive binoculars may perform better in low light. But I knew this when I purchsed them and the binoculars are better than I had expected

The Nikon Monarch 5 10x42 binoculars are a great product. I bought a pair last year and my wife and I liked them so much we got ourselves another pair recently. We also convinced three of our friends to get a pair. Which was easy after using ours. We use the binoculars primarily for birding. Why are they great? They are extremely bright. They have ED glass to correct chromatic aberration which allows us to see details better. They are not heavy to carry. The only drawback for me is that i have to remove my glasses. I already do that with my camera so I just use a glasses neck strap.

I use this product for birdwatching. I haven't use it for long now but I can guaranty the optical cuality is good, just minimal distortion only aparent when moving following a flying bird, and minimal chromatic aberrations only aparent when looking an object iluminated from behind

Lightweight Champion of Dawn & Dusk
Even with an uncontested heritage of all-conditions optical performance, the all-new MONARCH 5 further elevates its game with improved agility and advanced low light brilliance. By shaving nearly an ounce of weight from its rugged frame, the new MONARCH 5 is more athletic than ever, while the addition of Nikon ED glass lenses puts it in a class of its own for battling darkness with sharp, high-contrast views.
Nikon's ED Glass Lenses
The Difference Is Clear
All MONARCH 5 binoculars are now built with Nikon's legendary ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass lenses, which correct chromatic aberrations across the furthest limits of the visible light range and effectively compensate for color fringing. Even when observing objects that would make chromatic aberration the most apparent - such as adjacent whites and blacks - the images will maintain superior contrast and resolution thanks to the ED glass lenses. The improved resolution also provides brighter, more natural looking images, making the MONARCH 5 a serious contender to be your "go-to" binocular for years to come.
Extremely Portable
Now Lighter Than Ever Before
Almost a full ounce lighter than its predecessors, the new MONARCH 5 is even easier to take with you on your next outing. Its small size, combined with a sleek easy-to-grip body design, makes it the ultimate binocular to carry with you.
Enjoy Comfortable Viewing
Nikon's High-Eyepoint Design
Nikon has manufactured the MONARCH 5 binoculars, as well as many other of its optics, with a high-eyepoint design. This provides a clear field of view for everyone, even when the user is wearing eyeglasses, with sufficient space between the user's brow and the binocular's eyecups.
Greater Light Transmission
Fully Multicoated Eco-Glass Lenses
Multilayer coatings, which provide an even higher light transmittance across the entire visible light spectrum, are applied to all of the lens and prism surfaces that transmit light. This minimizes the loss of light due to reflection, thereby ensuring a more natural, clearer view.
Rich, Accurate Colors
Dielectric High-Reflective Multilayer Prism Coating
Applied to all lenses and prism surfaces, this technique provides almost the same brightness as that perceived by the naked eye, and clear high-contrast images that display accurate color reproduction.
Turn-and-Slide Rubber Eyecups
The turn-and-slide rubber eyecups allow users to adjust the eye-relief for a custom fit - providing a full field of view and maximum comfort during extended periods of use.
Durable Rubber-Armored Body
Built to handle any environment, the MONARCH 5 has a rubber-armored coating to withstand extreme use and provide a non-slip grip, even in the wettest conditions.
Smooth Central Focus Knob
With this simple and intuitive design, bringing objects into focus has never been easier.
Waterproof and Fogproof
MONARCH 5 binoculars are Nitrogen filled and O-Ring sealed for complete waterproof and fogproof performance.
