I love these binoculars. Very clear, good eye relief, just perfect for what I was looking for. I have used them at home for birdwatching. It was nice that the bundle came with the flashlight.

These are amazing binoculars! Bright, sharp, light, well built. Context...I have been using an old pair of Bushnells and another pair that, I think, are Tasco. They have worked but I think my granddaughter dropped the Tasco's and knocked the prism lose. So, I purchased the Monarch's and couldn't be more pleased with them.

I bought these binoculars based on a review in Wired. Compared to my $80 existing generic 8*40 binoculars, the 10*42 image is brighter, and easier to focus and point at. That would make a big difference if you'll be using these regularly. The binoculars are quite convenient to handle. These will be perfect for bird watching. Haven't tried looking at the moon yet.

Finding the perfect binoculars isn't easy. And I don't necessarily want to say these are perfect, but they are very very good. The clarity and sharpness are excellent. One thing I was looking for was the ease with which I could bring in the area I am trying to clearly see. I can focus quickly and see well all through the view. When I need to change where I am looking, I can quickly adjust the ring to bring in my subject. I asked the purchasers here about using with glasses. Anyone who wears glasses would prefer not to have to take them off and on while out viewing birds and other wildlife, especially if the person also would want to take photographs as well. Imagine juggling binocs and camera and on and off and on with glasses! These work very well with glasses due to the adjustable eye pieces (not sure that's the correct term). If all the way in, glasses are fine. Move out, better for no glasses. Note: I did try to use without glasses, and the view was actually better. This probably relates to my eyes and not the binoculars, but now I know if I don't mind the off and on thing, I can use them either with our without my glasses. My choice. Nikon has done well with this product.

I don't think you can ask for more for under $ than these binoculars. They're solid in the hands, provide a clear, crisp view, focus easily, and are relatively light. I'd give them four stars, but I'm comparing them (unfairly) to my wife's Swift Audubon Birding Binocs which are 8.5 x 44 . Still, I'm really happy with the Nikons and look forward to hours of bird watching with them.
