Amazing glass for the price. Crisp image, bright, good color. The focus wheel is a bit stiff, but that's a quibble. Performs its job amazingly well for a sub $200 pair of binoculars. Would buy again in a heartbeat.

I researched many binoculars, brands and magnifications. 7x50 gives very good clarity of the moon even in NYC lights at night. The brightness of 50 is intense. I am able to see more stars than I expected with a great field of view. I used them in daytime. They are very clear and my child was also able to use and enjoy the binoculars to spot birds on the water. Nikon service is amazing as well. I lost an eye cover and they shipped a new one immediately free of charge.

I apologize, but by stating that these weren't tripod-adaptable; that applied to the 12x50 Prostaff 5, not the Action Extreme ATBs. Matching the two side-by-side they perform about equally, with the roofs as bright but naturally excluding the depth-of-field that Porros generally provide. Nowadays, I have noticed with improved prisms and coatings on good roofs, they are beginning to match up with Porros, even for astronomical endeavors for which they were never preferred in the past. My erroneous statement was simply due to the same configuration of the two. I recommend the roofs for outside activities, especially; whereas the ATBs excel in darker environments, even though they are great for just about any application you can name!

In short, Nikon was amiss, by overlooking in the description, that these do not feature the common tripod hinge. After much ado about nothing I discovered this, but instead of simply sending a replacement cap for the one I admittedly scratched up, they only offered a decal, which is becoming late to arrive. At 12x I am too elderly to get a steady image. It is a downright shame and one must presume that when a manufacteror doesn't specifically state "tripod adaptable", well, they are not.

These 7X35 Action EX are awesome. The sharpness of images, ease of focus, light gathering power make then ideal for identifying birds, or locating that big buck. The convenience of being waterproof is great while out in extreme weather conditions. Adjustable eye pieces allow me to use them without having to remove my glasses, and if I really want a close look I can remove my glasses, extend the eye pieces and quickly adjust for my vision correction. Great product and typical quality you would expect when you purchase Nikon.

Purchased to replace a 60+ yr old set of German-made binos; as to be expected, the difference is dramatic. These are clear, sharp, virtually distortion-free and just simply excellent. Not truly heavy, they are heavy enough to impart much better stability than the smaller/lighter field type binos. And the lens covers stay on! Progress is wonderful ;-)

Love these binoculars! Everything is so bright and crystal clear. Took them kayaking and saw osprey from over a half mile away without any trouble. The caps on the large openings do fall off and don't stay on at all. The caps for the smaller openings are great. The weight is a little heavy, but they are fine. The grip is awesome and they are very easy to use. We got these also because we wear glasses. The eye piece is adjustable with or without glasses on. Very nice feature. Would give them a 5 but the caps falling off and the weight brings them down to a 4 1/5. Very nice item

I would recommend these binoculars. They are very high quality and extremely rugged. Images are bright and extremely clear They do suffer from one flaw that most binoculars have.....no matter what the cost. The lens protector caps don't fit well. Otherwise, great buy.

This is my second pair of Nikon 12X50 Action Extreme EXs. My husband broke his binox and appropriated my old pair, which I liked so much I got myself another one. For general use they're hard to beat. I use them for birding, sports, snooping, and admiring the lake and mountains. They are a bit heavy and bulky to take into the field, but I have done so and it wasn't too much of a hassle. Optics are quite good, field of view is excellent, easy to focus, easy to hold. Good and rugged too - you don't have to treat them like a Faberge egg like some binox. I have no negatives about these - they're all good.

I use these binoculars mostly for watching the 29 species of birds and half-dozen types of critters who visit our backyard, though occasionally I also look up at the stars at night. These binocs are quite bright, have a wide field of view, are easy to use, and are glasses-friendly. They are reasonably priced and come with lens covers and a useful case. If I have to nitpick, I do wish they focused a bit closer. I estimate they get down to about 8 feet. The railing where a lot of our birds perch can be a little closer than that, depending on where we're sitting. If I buy a more expensive pair In the future, I will be looking for focusing down to 6 ft.

Protective casing could be a good thing but for anyone sensitive to chemical odors having this close to your nose for a long time would be terrible. The company said the odor would eventually go away but I returned them anyway.

I used these for bird watching on a tour in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico and they were superior to what other people in the group were using. The magnification wasn't necessarily better, but the quality of the lens was noticeably superior.
