It's always extremely satisfying when you purchase a lens (or any product for that matter) and it performs as advertised and to the quality standards of an overtly critical user, such as myself and I assume many of you as well. Looking forward to many years of service out of this super wide lens and the potential it will have to create something wonderful.

Thoroughly pleased with the purchase of this lens. My only drawback is the cost of a filter adapter kit for this lens. It is very much over-priced in my opinion, and keeps me from getting one.

Excellent lens in the short time I have had this lens. just wish the filter adapter wasn't so expensive for it!

I bought this lens used to adapt to my Z bodies, and occasionally use with my dslr?s as well. At the extremely low price I was getting this at, I wasn?t expecting much. All I can say is this lens, even marked as ?f? is still an amazing lens. There are a few scuffs but that does not effect the image quality or functionality of the lens. The almost $2k in savings when compared to the native Z mount version, I can keep in my pocket. The quality of images I get from this lens is ridiculous. I?ve borrowed the Z version and the image quality only seemed marginally better, but for my limited use cases of this lens, buying used was the best move I could have made. This is still an amazing lens that functions flawlessly on my various Z bodies. The only notable flaw when comparing this f mount version to the Z mount is that the Z mount was almost silent, while the f mount is fairly loud.

Shoulda been a 5 but for a solvable design flaw: I like to keep a UV filter on my lens for 2 reasons - UV flare the second of two problems on lenses for (why have you killed the 850 successor , damnit!) DSLRS. The primary reason is keeping the thing clean. I?m very careful when it comes to the front element - don?t mind putting a little extra effort into cleaning a filter - a big one may be expensive but it?s a lot cheaper than a big piece of arguably the world?s best glass. I also like a detatchable lens hood - use it most of the time, might get lost, but even from Nikon, they?re a lot cheaper than replacing a hood that?s part of the lens. Now I have no gripes with optical performance, But there?s no reason a screw-on ring, guestimate 150 mm to 200 mm (where the fixed lens hood is now, couldn?t have been added to allow a short extension tube threaded for a big filter inside, and a bayonet-attached lens hood outside. -ok, it wouldn?t be as pretty, but it would sure beat scratching a lens or replacing a hood, at an est. $500/3rd pty-$1,000 Nikon repair. I?m still mad at the company for eliminating electronic spares to replace things like the focus board on my discontinued 18-70 mm f2.8 w/macro autofocus- great as a manual lens, but I didn?t need to upgrade to the no-macro 2.8 20-70 VR - great for my aging hands and cracked vertebrae. Lenses should be built to last as long as F-series bodies were, probably 100K still in use by wealthy film phreaks - 250K in great shape, brought out only for IR shots. Wadahell, my D200dx is still a useful backup bod. Mirrorless cameras are wonderful, but the new fantastic beasts are heavier (should be lighter, by design) and the bigger lenses weigh so much that they?re, for all intensive purposes, studio cameras, with weight the reason that folks who could afford Broncas, even Hassablads would never try?em for a field assignment. Ditto the deleted F-1 number DSLRS. Hint to the Big N - how about a mirrorless with all the quality of a Z-9, built with a composite body? Big Buckytube composites as stable as al/ti alloys sure cost, but shedding a kilo from lens/camera combo would keep me in the field another 2 decades. NOTE: there are 3rd party filter options- stick the lens in a 1 kilogram can and slap a really big filter on the end - leaving an ex-wide/wide zoom weighing in like an S-series super-tele zoom, equally tripod-bound. Scrapping video features would also save a bit of weight for them of us who?ll never use it! Scrapping F-series DSLRs for heavier, larger effectively studio camera designs is plain dumb. C?mon, how ?bout a Z-FX, no mirror/quality of a D-850?

Decent Tripod. Comes with Case. Option to use for macro shots by shifting top stalk to be parallel to the ground. Ball Head is good. Acra Type Plate.

Great Lens. Completed my Nikon 2.8 Holy Trinity. Heavy, but that's the cost of having great glass. No Filter Option. Be careful using due to exposed and protruding front lens.

A perfect ultra wide angle lens for almost everything you throw at it. It is sharp at every aperture and every focal length with no chromatic aberration at all. It work perfectly for all occasions from dark venues to astrophotography of the Milky Way.

This is an excellent lens and the images are sharp at the edges. While ultra wide angles lenses often do not have much bokeh, with close up shots the bokeh of this lens is good. The colors are vibrant too.

This lens is the foundation of the "holy trinity" for good reason. It's as sharp and distortion free as you're going to get in this range. Built for photojournalists to take into battle, this lens comes at a steep price paid by your shoulder and back. For those of us who learned to shoot on film before it was "vintage," the Nikon 17-35 f/2.8 will hasten recovery time and reduce trips to the chiropractor.

Love this lens! It's a huge upgrade from the Tokina 11-16mm I've been using. Not too much distortion considering the specs, this is great for the interior photography I do. I was looking at another lens (Nikon 16-35mm) that's a bit cheaper, but this is worth the extra $$$.

This is super wide. You can stand right in front of structures and get the whole thing! If not, take a few steps back. It weighs about the same as a 24-70. It’s a little bit shorter than a 24-70 but not much. Great for mountains, buildings, parks, and schools.

If you are a wide and ultra-wide angle lens freak like me, this is absolutely the lens to have. It pretty much obsoletes other lenses in this range of focal lengths. Wow! Optically, this lens is BY FAR the best performing wide to ultra-wide I have ever used. Off axis (e.g. corner) resolution and contrast is superb at all focal lengths. There is hardly any vignetting, Makes all of my trusty old wide and ultra-wide primes (14 f/2.8 AF, and MF 15 f/3.5, 18 f/3.5, 20 f/2.8, 20 f/3.5, 24 f/2.8, and 24 f/2.0) look sad (off axis) by comparison. Ghosting is a non-issue--a big improvement over older lenses for sure. F/2.8 max. aperture is great indoors/at night. BTW, I use this lens on a pair of D800's and a D600. Those cameras do a pretty good job of showing you just what any lens if capable of doing, and this lens is superb. Downsides: Bulk. Not the most convenient or unobtrusive lens to carry all day. Filters are problematic, as for most any ultra-wide. I use 6 inch square Lee SW150 filters in a SW150 holder, which is huge, for ND filters. I retain my old MF lenses for polarizer applications. I would much prefer an aperture ring instead of the "G" design. 50+ years of using aperture rings on most all my other Nikkor lenses is a difficult habit to break. Bottom line: After using this lens for most of a year, I find it hard to suggest anything else in this range of focal lengths. If I did not already have a bunch of legacy lenses in this range of focal lengths, I would probably not own anything besides this 14-24. Bravo Nikon!!!

I have waited for years to buy this lens. There were always questions in my mind about whether or not to buy it: would it be too heavy or how to protect it with no lens cover or would Nikon update it with a new version as soon as I bought this one! And there always seemed to be another lens or new camera body that came first. I have only used it three times to date. It performed great. It feels no heavier to me than a number of my other lenses (like the 70 -200mm)...the other worries disappeared as I added a great lens and a lot of diversity to my shooting.

Clearly one of not THE best wide angle lenses on the market available today. For a lens that has had many critiques and had been on market for quite awhile, once having this lens on camera (d750) I was taken aback at how sharp it really is. I spent plenty of time trying to find any flaws with this lens. Noticeably the weight at the front became a concern for handheld use after a couple of minutes and that same weight made a difference in how the zoom ring felt. Not as smooth as other lenses in this price range but understandably so with the amount of glass being moved. This lens definitely should be in a photographers tool kit, I was once skeptical but having some hands on time has really changed my views on this wide angle lens.

When I see reviews that are overwhelmingly positive for any product, I try really hard not to join in the chorus of praise with just another "Great lens" review. So, here are some of the already-stated down-sides to this lens: It's heavy, it's bulky and it can't take a filter. One other thing that has been mentioned but not emphasized - light leaks in from weird angles and I think it might have something to do with the way the hood is designed. The hood is a petal shape and the corners may g...

My "Drama" lens
By LarLac
I've been using this lens on a working basis for a couple of years, and it's quickly become the favorite lens in my bag. On a full-frame (FX) body, you can't beat the kinds of angles you can get for dramatic effect (see samples). The edge-to-edge sharpness is better than any other lens I use, and that says a lot because it's all Nikkor glass. When zoomed all the way out to 14mm, you're going to get some distortion, but that's to be expected at that angle of view. That's what gives you that dr...

Crafted for excellence, the lens boasts a durable construction that stands up to challenging environments, being sealed against dust and moisture to ensure your creative process is uninterrupted. The constant f/2.8 wide aperture not only provides a bright viewfinder experience but also allows for a substantial amount of light to reach the sensor, making it an ideal choice for low-light situations and creating images with a shallow depth of field.

This results in unparalleled sharpness, clarity, and contrast across the entire frame, even at the widest aperture settings. The Nano Crystal Coat further enhances image quality by significantly reducing lens flare and ghosting, ensuring your photos are crisp and high in contrast.
Focusing is a breeze with the lens' internal focusing mechanism, which allows you to get as close as 10.8 inches at the 24mm focal length, capturing fine details with precision. The Silent Wave Motor (SWM) delivers ultra-fast, accurate, and near-silent autofocus, making it an excellent choice for videographers who need to maintain a quiet set while recording HD video.
