This lens is still amazing this many years later all while adapted to the Z system. I shoot portraits, automotive and nature. 16-35 gives me a great range to shoot in for all scenarios. The f/4 aperture is still fast enough for most situations I could put it in.

I hadn't used this lens very much until recently when I took home night shots in Philadelphia. The quality is shockingly excellent, especially in how perfectly the glass captures streetlights. It is a heavy lens, but I see it as a small tradeoff for the great images it captures.

Works great for wide angle photography. I use this a lot for photographing the night sky. Very happy with the quality.

I have mixed feelings about this lens. First off, I purchased it specifically because it was an ultra-wide that I could mount filters on. For that purpose, the lens is great, and I think it travels really well. Its in no way a bad lens, however, since moving to the Z system, it's made me aware of how soft this lens actually is. If you edit your photos to look dreamy, add the orton effect, etc, this lens will suit you well. If you're looking for ultra-sharpness, I would personally switch to the Z system, or invest in the wonderful 14-24 f/2.8

First off let me say my order was taken, packaged and delivered as promised by Adorama in a first class manner. I purchased this lens for my Nikon D850 and as of the moment I have not had a chance to put it to good use, but to me it feels comfortable to carry on the camera. I have only been able to take pictures inside and outside of my abode, but have used ISO from 64 to 3200 with various aperture settings and zoom ranges and have been pleasantly surprised with the quality of the picture. I purchased this lens to use for mainly landscape photography and judging from the pics taken from my door and porch, it will be a great lens. Anyone who buys this lens will not be disappointed. But let it be known, I am not a professional, just someone who enjoys photography.

Wonderful. Focus is quick and accurate. Some distortion @ 16mm but to be expected. Also got it on sale for slightly more than used.

Excellent Superwide zoom lens. Shooting with it I’ve found it to be sharp at all focal lengths. Distortion is minimal above 20mm, at 16mm there’s significant but easy to correct distortion with the lens profile applied in post. Light fall off is negligible at the corners. It’s Nikon’s sharpest ultra-wide zoom.

Only good up to 16mpx cameras. Once you use it on 36 + mpx it is extremely soft.

I’ve been using this lens for over a year. It’s my go-to lens for landscape photography. Great lens for the price and it provides a lot of versatility. It does pretty good in low light situations and if needed just bump up the ISO.

Nice "light" weight lens for Nikon. This is much lighter than most of my other Nikon lens, that is nice for hand holding. The optics are nice, have not detected any issue with them.

This is a great lens and should be part of everyone's lens bag. First, it's a super wide angle that accepts 77mm filters. Second, it covers a range of focal lengths that we all use in landscape photography and third, it's sharp!

The lens makes a great companion to the 24-120 kit lens without breaking the bank. I switch the lens between my D600 and D750 and they both get great shots. Ansel Adams I'm not, but the mountain landscapes look great. Photos will be uploaded when I'm back.

By far, this is one of the best wide angle full frame lenses for landscapes. A little distortion at the wide end, a little vignetting, but in camera and or post eliminated it.

Replaced my Tamron 24-70 with this and have never looked back. Fits the bill nicely.

So, I bought this so I would have a wide-angle lens for my new D750. I was a bit worried about the F/4 but I did some shots inside and with the ISO up high, the shots came out great! I'll let my pictures do the talking. I would recommend this lens!

I love this lens. It’s not the 14-24 f2.8, but a great wide for the price. You can use screw on filters, unlike the 14-24. Solid build, useful focal range for landscapes and environmental portraits. VR allows for handheld photography with sharp results at pretty ridiculously slow shutter speeds (esp at 16mm).

Great rectilinear wide angle lense, one of my favorite lenses underwater, very sharp I’ll love if it was in 2.8 as well as the canon version. Very anyways is an awesome lense and with my Nikon D850 I can bring all the potencial.

I purchased the lens because of the positive online reviews. It's everything that I wanted: fixed f/4 aperture, VRII image stabilization, wonderful resolution (up to 24 mm), and quality build. The weight of the lens balances nicely with an FX body. The reviews indicated significant resolution falloff beyond 24 mm; you'll want to carry another lens to cover longer focal lengths. I like to think of the lens as a much less expensive alternative to the Nikkor 14-24 mm. Not quite the coverage or maximum aperture, but nearly as good resolution, much lighter, and I can use it with filters.

I have had the lens for a short time and used it for an architectural photography project I am working on. The lens is sharp and the focus is quick.

While I spend a great deal of my time on studio macro photography I also like to travel and am trying to broaden the scope of my work by taking more landscape photos. This lens is excellent for that and not too heavy even when handheld by this 78 year old woman and I will be taking it on my upcoming two month trip to Europe. Should get a lot of use.

Great lens

If you're looking for a wide-angle zoom that will cover an FX sensor, you should consider the 16-35mm f/4 VR. I'm very happy with this lens. It may not be quite as good as the 14-24mm f/2.8 lens when it comes to sharpness, but they're very close. The 14-24mm is an excellent lens. However, there are some advantages to the 16-35mm. In my opinion, a big advantage is the ability to attach filters to the front of the lens ---- you can't do that with the 14-24mm. The 14-24mm is faster (f/2.8) but t...

Superb Choice
By Craig
Almost every serious photographer has or had an ultra-wide in their DX kit. For most of us it was something close to a 10-24 zoom. The first and one of the best of these is Nikon's pro-level 12-24 f/4 DX lens. This new 16-35 f/4 lens is close to the exact same thing but made for your FX camera. It is the perfect compliment for your FX kit filling in an important range. . My sweet spot for an FX wide is 24mm as determined by a search through my keepers over the past 5 years and also including ...

Skilled photojournalists and talented amateurs have grown increasingly appreciative of the visual versatility afforded by ultrawide- to-wide-angle zoom lenses. These focal lengths broke new ground in the 1990s with offerings such as the AF Zoom-NIKKOR 20-35mm f/2.8 and its advanced amateur counterpart, the 18-35mm f/3.5-4.5D IF-ED.
Now, an all-new ultra-wide zoom featuring a fixed f/4 maximum aperture, Nano Crystal Coat, ED glass and Nikon VR II (4-stop) image stabilization offers discriminating Nikon digital SLR photographers an ideal blend of versatility and high performance priced well below its "pro" equivalent.
The AF-S NIKKOR 16-35mm f/4G ED VR is sure to satisfy the needs of a broad range of shooters and, therefore, is poised to build sales and profits.
Designed to meet the performance demands of the larger Nikon FX format image sensor. It is, however, fully compatible with Nikon DX-format digital SLR cameras.
