Questions & Answers

Nina S : is this compatible for the d7000?STEVEN A : Nina, The Nikon 18-300mm will fit the d7000. It is a great lens with a lot of versatility from wide angle to telephoto. It isn't the fastest lens for each focal point although for the range it provides it is a very good versatile "all in one" lens. Usually my go to lens when I am traveling and don't want to carry too many lens on me.PAUL K : Yes. I keep it on my D7100 and it is a great lens that truely does it all. Although it is a little heavy it avoids having to carry several lenses around so overall it saves weight. It also avoids having to change lenses all the time so helps avoid getting dust inside the camera. Overall I'm very happy and would buy it again without hesitation.LAWRENCE L : YesERIC A : Yes it is, but unless you're planning on getting a full frame camera sometime in the future, I'd recommend the Nikon 18-300 lens. It's greater range makes it the perfect 'walk around' lens.SWAMY B : Yes it does.. am using it on my d7000..WILBUR R : Hi Nina. The 18-300 mm lens is a great `walk around` lens. I have a Nikon D 90 and I e-mailed Nikon USA to see if the lens would be compatible with my camera and fortunately, they said yes. I would suggest you contact Nikon and ask them. Good luck.MICHAEL R : Yes
Don M : Is the telephoto an extending barrel or internal?STEVEN A : This is an extending barrel. In my experience, the lenses with variable f stops are extending, while the zoom lenses with a constant stop are internal. This is a good overall lense and very versatile, as long as you don't need to shoot in low lighting.PEGGY G : It is an extending barrel. It's my go to all around lens- great for travel.BARBARA T : Extending barrel.JIMMY C : Extending BarrelWALLACE R : It is a extending barrel from 4 3/4 inches to 8 inches. I find the lens vary useful when traveling. You only need to carry one lens. WallyGERALD S : Extending barrelCANDY K : Extending barrel.LAWRENCE L : ExtendingGREGORY M : Telephoto is extending lens barrel approx 2x, so if you shooting with 300 mm your lens will be twice longer, than 18 mm size shown on all pictures. GregMJOHN S : Extending
MICHAEL M : is this compatible for the d7100?MARK S : Even though I dont own a D7100, I would assume all functionality would work. I should mention that the lens is pretty heavy. That being said, takes great pictures. I keep the lens on my camera 90% of the timeERIC A : Absolutely. I have the Nikon D7100, and I use this as my general walk around lens. It is a bit heavy, but it has such a fantastic range, that I generally have it on the camera all the time, unless I know what I'm shooting needs my favorite lens, the Nikon 10-24mm. Just so you know, this isn't the sharpest lens in the world, but for an every day 'cover all the bases lens' I don't think it can be beat.JOSEPH K : I'm not familiar with the D7100 but I travel a lot, and I found the Nikon 18-300 a bit too bulky and heavy for my purposes, so, without even checking its capabilities I decided not to keep it.PEGGY G : Yes, It is my primary lens for my D7100...STEVEN A : Yes, I have a D7100 and have had this lens for over a year. It is a great overall lens with wide angle and telephoto capabilities. As you probably know, the D7100 is a DX formatted camera, thus the effective range for this lens is 27mm- 450mm equivalent on a FX camera. If you need a high speed lens for indoor sports, this lens is not for you, as it is too slow, but it is great when there is a lot of light. .GREGORY M : Yes, it is compatible with D7100. I am using it as my "default" lens with my 7100 for a year or so.MICHAEL S : Yes. Awesome lens. It is very heavy though.DR. M : I really do not know if it is compatible with the d7100.. I suggest calling Nikon if the folks at Adorama don't know. I can tell you that it is an awesome lens which eliminates having to change lenses. It is just a bit heavy, however.WALT C : Absolutely! i have owned this combination for over a year and LOVE the lens with my D7100! Macro focus at up to 300mm (450mm on our D7100s) is incredible and the range of a medium wide 27mm to medium telephoto 450mm prevents me from having to change lenses, eliminating all dust contamination. The filters are clear and sharp, and i use the polarizer on all sunny days. Also, when you shoot video, be sure to set the lens to AFC (Auto Focus Continuous) so you won't lose focus if you need to zoom. Good luck!JOHN W : Yes this lens is compatible with the Nikon D7100.MICHAEL R : Yes, that's what I'm using it with.

Excellent Lens

I replaced 5 lenses with this lens . I am well satisfied with this. I did a photo shoot in our church, and never had to move from my pew. I made a photo album for our pastor and he is thrilled to death.. I could not be happier !!

A Superb All Purpose Lens

Replaced my Nikon 18-200, which is the best and most used lens I've ever owned, with this lens and I've never looked back. It is a superb all purpose lens. Buy it.

Great all-around lens

This is lens is great for all-around use. The focus is fast, quiet and accurate and zoom range is incredible. It saves time by eliminating lens changes which means less lost opportunities. I especially like it for backcountry landscapes where carrying minimum equipment is necessary. It is a heavy piece of gear which makes it difficult to carry on your neck all day.

Great all around lens!

I read many reviews before purchasing this lens and I had some reservations about clarity and overall IQ, but I'm not disappointed at all. This is a fantastic all-around lens and the IQ is wonderful for the price and the versatility. This is not a professional lens and is not marketed, priced, or intended to be such. For the majority of us hobbyists out there, this is a must have, particularly if you're into general nature photography. I have had equal success with wildlife, sunrises and sunsets, and forest flora shots. It is fantastic to carry only one lens and be able to artistically capture so many different photographs. It is heavy, but that's to be expected for the almost unbelievable focal length span. The smaller apertures are what one should expect from a lens of this price range. The auto-focus is fast and accurate and I love the M-M/A function which allows for fine tuning focusing. The VR functions very well and the zoom and focus rings are solid and conveniently located. The mount is metal and has some weather sealing which is a plus. The front of the lens does not rotate during focusing which permits the use of CP filters. The lens is very well built and is a good balance between solid construction and light weight. I have used this lens for some time now and have nothing negative to say. The negative ratings I have read seem to be asking for a professional f/1.4 superzoom that weighs 1/2 pound and costs $. Get real. For the smart buyer who has realistic expectations, this is a fantastic buy. I highly recommend!
