Nikon 20mm f/2.8 AIS Super NIKKOR Lens

The lens was in absolute perfect condition. Glass, barrels and internal cleanliness were beautiful with all the lubricants still having the proper "feel". In my experience (many dozens of lenses handled from different sources) this lens was on par with any received globally. Good.... no GREAT job!

It is wonderful that Nikon still makes simple, robust, all-manual lenses. Not only are they a pleasure to feel and hold, they are a pleasure to use. The 20mm Ai-S not only takes great landscapes, but you can reverse it (using the Nikon Nikon BR-2A Reversing Ring + Nikon BR-5 Adapter Ring) and take macro shots 3.4x closer than with a standard macro lens. Only the Nikkor all-manual lenses (manual aperture) give the user control of the f/stop while in the reversed position. They are priceless for this reason and give the user tremendous flexibility! Super-wide landscape ability, and then (flip it over) and you also have ultra-close macro capabilities, way beyond a normal macro lens. What's more, they're built superbly and will last a lifetime. A great investment for sure!

I bought this lens used couple months ago. I was amazed of the great build quality. Solid metal and glass, just beautiful... Manual focusing was a little bit scary at first, but the narrow angle of rotation (90o from closest to infinity) and the silky feel, makes it feel just right. Optics? soft at corners even stopped down, better in the center, even wide open. A lot of vignetting wide open, worsens with thick filters. Tricky distortion, but, normal for an ultra wide lens. Overall? i think that this lens will live longer than me! Makes my photography skills better every time i use it. Highly recommended over any auto focus plastic newer lens.

I have owned a Nikkor 20mm lens in one form or another since 1969 and absolutely would not do without one. It is always my "go-to" lens when needing a super- wide angle perspective. Small, light weight, easy to carry, great image quality, fast (f/2.8) speed. I take it EVERYWHERE, usually to the exclusion of my 18mm and 15mm Nikkor super-wides. Just a great all around super-wide lens. Every photographer should own one.

I love this lens. It sits squarely on my D80's body 80% of the time. For nearly 30 years I had an FE with a 28mm lens and it was fabulous. Making the jump to digital I looked for another 28mm, but was distracted by the 20mm's impressive reviews. Light weight and easy to carry around for all day excursions. I highly recommend what could very well be one of the best wide angle lens around. And the price won't put you in the poor house. You won't be sorry. Take one for a test drive. Then take it out in the field and put it through its paces.

Nikkor 20mm F 2.8 ais works great on my D90. its super sharp, there is little barrel distortion, focusing is smooth and fast, solid build quality like all nikkor ais family. great lens for landscape!

I have had this lens since it first came out ,great glass the D3 series allows me to program this lens into the camera.I like this lens when my f 2.8 zooms are too bulky.One poor aspect the sunshade

Very sharp and well built. Nice size and uses standard 52mm filters. Focuses close and is the perfect standard wide angle lens that Nikon makes.

Excellent lens!!!!! I used it on my Nikon D3 & it works wonders when shooting portraits of clients!!! the color retention is astonishing!!!! I definitely recommend this to anyone who wants a wide-angle prime with great low-light performance!!

I purchased this lens instead of the AF version because I believe it is a better quality lens and fits my shooting style better. Manual focusing is not a problem for me and I feel that the operation of the aperture ring as well as overall build quality is better on this lens. At present I use it with a D200 with which it makes a good combination. I am also very pleased with the optical quality. The lens is sharp with excellent color rendition. With the D200 it is equivalent to a 30mm lens.

It has better sharpness and better color rendition than the AF-D version. Better construction, will last longer. Very difficult to find the lens hood for this lens.
