Sharp throughout the zoom range. Sharp at widest apertures. This is my primary walk around and street photography lens. This lens along with my 35mm f1.8 prime are my primary landscape lenses. Highly recommended!!

Excellent performance throughout its zoom range. I use mine as an everyday walk-around lens on my D800 and it has yet to disappoint after years of use. Highly recommend!?

This lens was rated excellent + and it is that and more! It takes absolutely beautiful pictures and renders colors better than any other lens hat I own. I highly recommend using Adorama for your photography needs!

In my FX format photos, I wanted sharpness at all ranges of focus; from 24mm through 120mm. I shoot landscapes at minimum aperture such as f/22. The depth of field sharpness that this lens gives me is incomparable.

Very pleased with this lens. I bought it especially for a Christmas service I was to photograph. I needed a faster lens. I was not disappointed. I was able to photograph in the low light and the images were sharp and the lens responded quickly for action scenes. I am very happy with my purchase.

Very good travel lens that I use on my Nikon D750. It?s a little heavy but I knew that when I bought it. No complaints so far.

This lens came bundled with the Nikon D750 I bought years ago and I've used it with the D850 as my every-day go-to lens since that camera body came out. It's no kit lens. I've never looked for another general walking-around lens. It performs in every category. It isn't fast, of course, but its other qualities outweigh anything I might lose by having an f/4 lens as my utility lens.

This lens is sharp and has great contrast. The zoom range is extremely useful for many landscapes, group photos, kids sports and travel shots. I am now in mys 60's and no longer have steady hands. The VR function is a Godsend that allows me to continue taking almost all photos handheld. If you have steady hands, the VR will give you about 3 stops of sharpness over a non-VR lens. Regarding optical distortion: Yes, there is visible barrel distortion on the edges of the frame when observed through the viewfinder. However, the image written to the memory card has this distortion automatically corrected by the camera. I am using a D610 and have updated the camera with the latest firmware AND lens distortion data. Updates are provided for your camera free of charge on this web site. Go to Software>Firmware Updates. (Unfortunately, this will not work automatically if shooting film. However, scans can be post-processed to correct distortion.) As a digital system, this lens produces excellent images on FX sensor cameras. I highly recommend this lens for FX-type DLSR's.

Wonderful contrast with sharp images and accurate color. Silent wave motor provides fast autofocus. This is my "everyday" lens on a D610. This replaced a 28-120 f/4-5.6 that I carelessly chipped the rear element. Glad I had to replace that. This 24-120 f/4 is sharper and has instantly noticeable better contrast. Please check one of Adorama's big supporters, Ken Rockwell, for his review. Review photo of the Startech USB 3.0 to 2.5" SATA Cable on Adorama was taken with this lens.

I've wanted this lens since I purchased my D750 FX Format camera. The refurbished lens works and looks like new at a fraction of the cost!

It’s my go to all around lens. No need for a 24-70 at least the way I shoot. That’s why the key. How you shoot. Sharp lens great focal length coverage.

Essential lens when shooting events in partnership with the 70 - 200 to capture the action. This refurbished lens is a 1.8 - even better than the one which died.

This is my "go to" lens. It will take you in close and does an excellent job at mid-range, though it can lack clarity at the maximum range if you are looking for detail. On landscapes it is excellent and on close work with small details it is still clear. From insects in the garden to birds in flight, it has always performed well for me.

Lens came in great shape and appears normal although my trip to use was cancelled due to Covid-19 and I have yet to put it to test.

Another great lens!!! It is only F4, but it can give excellent quality images even around 3200 ISO or even 6400.

The worst of all mid range f4 zooms I have ever used. Although it is the most useful range, which I prefer over the 24-105mm. However I have had Canon and Sony 24-105 f4's and they are miles ahead this lens. Only good for low Mpx cameras and amateurs.

I've had this lens now for a few years and rarely remove it from my camera - from portrait / fitness work in studio, to landscape, city scape, and aerial work from helicopters - this lens does not disappoint.

My experiences with Refurbished by Nikon gear has been excellent, and this lens is no exception. This lens arrived in perfect physical condition, with a lens cap, lens hood and pouch. After testing with a Nikon D850, shooting resolution charts, a fashion catalog, portraits, and fashion show, the I can confirm that the lens is sharp and operationally smooth. For less critical work, this lens will replace five primes in my bag. While no zoom is as sharp as a professional grade prime lens, this lens is a good "walking around" choice.

When I bought my Nikon D90, I also bought the 24-120 f3.5 - f5.6 Lens to replace my F2 AS - 80-200 zoom and get into the digital age. I soon found that prints from my digital files were not up to the quality of the ones from my film camera setup. When I had saved enough $$ I bought a D7100 and the newer 24-120 f4 zoom. Night and day difference in quality of prints - surpassing my film camera by a lot. The fixed f4 on the newer lens was also a special benefit. The older lens was soon gifted to a grandchild. I use the 24-120 f4 on all my Nikons. FX and DX and with the adapter I even use it on my Nikon 1 J4. It is very easy to use, great feel, silk movement of the focusing and zoom rings. It is well constructed. As an example, When hiking up at Lake Louise in Alberta, I dropped my camera as I slipped in some muddy part of the steep trail. It landed on a rocky surface and broke the front filter. I was at a loss as this was the only lens I had brought with me. to my delight, after wiping the mud and debris off the lend, it functioned perfectly. I very carefully finished braking out the rest of the broken filter ( do not recommend this procedure to the faint of heart) and had a fully functional/camera/lens for the rest of the week. I especially like the wide focal range, The 24 mm wide angle of the range allows for artistic compositions and for situations when I am limited as to how far back i can get from my subject. I like the great depth-of-field that the wide angle end of the lens has when doing landscape shots allowing foreground inclusion. The mid range is great for photographing people, full length potrate and gives a realistic view of the scene with little or no sceen manipulation from wide/telephoto lens. Although the longer telephoto portion of this lens is great on an FX for head shots and other moderate telephoto scenes, the lens comes on great on a DX camera like my D7100with its 1.5 x multiplier. Great for making distortion free head shots and for compressing distances and providing a more shallow depth of field. My Nikon 1J4 with it's adapter and this lens at 120 has a 35 mm equivalent of a 324 mm telephoto with an f4 aperture and quick auto-focusing. It gets some questions when around professionals, but I like it. With the quick focusing and special type glass - it is capable of producing great images coupled with the great VR on Nikon Cameras. I seldom use apertures smaller that f8, as my cameras will not auto focus beyond f8 and my eyesight is not great with the lens/camera in manual focus mode. Also, beyond f11 you will encounter increasing refraction distortion. I like Nikon's use of the 77mm filter size as most lenses today will use that size and there is a multitude of types /functions available. The lens is very quiet when focusing with my microphone not picking up any noise from the focusing mechanism when making movies. Bottom line. I really like the range adn multiple uses of thes well made lens. For me it handles most situation I encounter with finesse. I highly recommend it. Cons: wish it was a bit smaller, but it's weight gives good balance to my cameras.

The good: - constant f4 - effective VR - useful zoom range - sharp and contrasty The "cons": - somewhat heavy - vignetting in corners even stopped down to f8 or more - shocking amount of distortion I read several reviews of the lens, so... was expecting that there would be some distortion, but... good grief! Anything on the edges of the frame till 30% of the distance towards the center of the image suffers from an incredible amount of distortion. If one is expecting straight lines to be, well, straight, then, at 24mm the lens is almost unusable. It's much better at 28mm but the distortion is still significant at 50mm and beyond..

I bought the refurbished AF-S NIKKOR 24-120mm f/4G ED VR lens direct from Nikon. It is just like new. I am not a professional landscape photographer and new to digital photography. I used to be a film photographer mainly shooting portrait. Now I am learning to shoot landscape. This lens has been reviewed by many experts and consumers as well, some very positive others negative. As for me, this lens is surprisingly good in optical performance. Yes there are some distortions, but nothing is perfect. Having said that, I am ready to give this lens 5 stars. Please look at the picture I have uploaded. The lens is giving me what I want.

The one lens solution
By Crusader
No, its not the equal of a half a dozen prime lenses. It's not the equal of Nikon's holy trinity of fixed aperture zoom lenses covering the same range. But its remarkably robust compared to the competition, its plenty sharp, and its distortion is acceptable in all but the most critical applications. Five stars for a lens that's good enough for all but the 99th percentile. The only lens I need in my bag.
Best in Class

The lens Nikon was missing, I have never really seriously considered moving to the DARKSIDE (Canon) but they did make a 24-105 F4 that left me longing for the equivalent in a Nikon product. Well not only have they meet Canon in this range they have doubled down and surpassed them with this lens. It is my favorite lens and I am considering sell my 24-70 2.8. The 24-120 is sharp and the colors are out of this world. Do buy it.
Upgraded standard zoom lens for FX-format D-SLRs offers a constant maximum aperture to maintain exposure settings throughout the entire zoom range.
