Great lens! I love using it for my wide shots and dancefloor reception action!

Lives up to its DxOmark rating. I?ve been using it for nature/landscape shots and lower-light indoor opportunities on my D780 with beautiful results. The lighter-than-expected weight of the lens is a bonus. This is one of Nikon?s better bang-for-the-buck prime lens values.

I love this lens. However I used 1.4G before and I see the difference fir 1.8G I bought. The close up shots is not to good how 1.4G makes. Maybe I have to learn better how to use that one in close up details pictures. The 24mm 1.8G have a little low quality details shot. Little disappointed with.

Very happy with this lens. Back when I shot film the 35mm was a go-to. This fits that need with a highly useable F1.8! Seems well made.

Perfect out of the box. Focus is "spot-on" with my D610. Rendering is awesome - color, contrast, perspective. It focuses so quickly and quietly you likely won't even hear it actuate. I had to look at the distance scale and fire several test shots to verify it did. The only thing that could be better would be a slightly heavier build, to make it more balanced on a full frame body. All in all, much better than other recent lens purchases I've made. It's already scary sharp on my camera so if you use a D850 prepare to be wowed.

Just received in and tested this 24mm f/1.8g and am very pleased. Tack sharp, accurate focus and great colors. In fact, it focuses so quickly and quietly I first thought it was broken. I had to point at several objects and focus while looking at the distance window on the lens barrel to verify it actuated. I recently bought a couple third party lenses because of glowing reviews; however neither consistently focused, even with micro-focus adjustments in-camera, and both were excessively heavy for their focal lengths. The third party lenses also exceeded $1000.00 each so their shortcomings were a huge disappointment. Optically, this 24mm AF-S from Nikon is about as perfect as it gets out of the box, and the images are pro level, with nice subject/background separation when I want it. I have a D610, and if I used a D850, the images would be scary sharp. I highly recommend this lens. I do wish it were a slightly heavier in build, as that tends to balance with a full frame camera better, but I know I can rely on this Nikkor and that's peace of mind. I'll most likely stay with Nikon lenses going forward.

I read so many reviews, bad and good ones, a lot about focusing and speed accuracy. All I had so far were on spot. I had no single picture out of focus. This is the best close up lens I had. Amazing fast, picture quality, weight, everything. Mine was refurbished but not a point less than new (came with third party cap). The only lens which could beat sharpness was my 85 1.8 but still super close to each other. Other tele lenses I have wide open are no where close this 24 mm. You will never regret this lens. BTW my camera is D850 and this lens can get the juice the camera can give. Enjoy

I just bought the Nikkor 24mm f/1.8 from Adorama. It is amazingly sharp, straight out of the box with zero fine tuning. I have a big assortment of lens, and a few very high dollar ones. But I don’t think I have any as sharp as this 24mm. I envision it staying on my camera quit a bit!

Excellent combo! It's got everything you need to start shooting with your Nikon 24 mm f1.8G. Beyond that Adorama's one-day shipping is true. The lens is light, fast auto focus and very luminous. Ideal for low light and night shooting. It captures everything you don't even see.

I put it on a APSC right now so it's like around 35mm. It's a great lens and I am satisfied with its sharpness. If it could improve the control of purple light it could be even better.

This lens is incredibly sharp with great color reproduction. I haven't used the 1.4 version of this lens, but I can't see it being that much better. I'm using it on my new D850, and it's an awesome combination. It is fairly expensive, but well worth the money.

This lens is sharper than the 24mm f/1.4G for less money. However, if you point this lens to the sun, you'll see a little blue dot. The build quality is nothing to brag about; it feels like cheap plastic. If you want a sharp and light weight 24mm, this is it.

My version is the $ factory refurbished. The lens is a dream combo of razor-sharpness, accurate-snappy autofocus, with that fast aperture. Distortion is quite low for a wide angle. Very useful for focus stacking "near-far" images. The low distortion also makes the lens great for vertical stitched panoramas. There's nothing I dislike about this masterpiece. I cannot imagine spending hundreds of bucks more for the 1 extra stop of the f1.4 model. Add in the very light weight and this lens is perfect for landscape. Highly recommended. The only risk is Adorama customer service, which has slipped from very good to abysmal. Proceed with caution on that account.

Bought this on the recommendation of the salesman, Frank Brown, at Adorama. This lens provides excellent image quality at F2.8 to F8. Using it on a Nikon D810, this lens has provided image sharpness and contrast better than any other lens in this focal length that I have used previously. I did have to tweak the AF setting with this lens on my D810, but that has been true with all lens on that body. Have had it about two weeks and used it on landscape pictures in the mountains. If you need a wide angle lens in this focal length, then I would certainly recommend that you seriously consider this lens.

I have a 50 -1.4 and a 85 -1.8 as well as the 24-70 -2.8. I've enjoyed both of the primes immensely. I was wanting something wide to use in close quarter candid situations. The 24-1.8 seemed to have better specs than the 35 or 28 1.8's so I settled on the 24. It is very sharp and is comfortable to shoot with on my Nikon df and 800E bodies. It does take some getting used to though. I like to shoot a lot at f2.8 with most of my other lenses. For the short time I've had the 24, I've been using f2.8 mostly, but the depth of field is very shallow at close distances.....much broader as you move farther away from your subject. So, while I think it is a great lens and a good value, I would caution you that it is a lens you need to experiment with and develop a "style" in how you use it. At least that's been my experience.

I already own a fast wide zoom for my Nikon D610 but wanted something smaller and lighter. The 24mm f/1.8G fits my needs perfectly. It is fast enough for lower light photo's and lighter than my Tokina 16-28. Focus is right on the money with my 610 and it is super sharp. Overall this a great wide angle lens with all the performance I could ask for at a relatively low price. I'm very pleased.

I am new to nice cameras, so far I really like the look of photo's taken with this lens, compared with the 50mm that came with the camera.

This is a lens for all seasons. The contrast and resolution is extremely high as compared to other lenses I use, and the color correction is at "top of its class". No purple fringing was noted when shooting into the sun or around backlit highlights, and the contrast wide open is extraordinary. There is no haze or ghosts with this lens which is so common in lenses without nano crystal coatings. The resolution is superb right out to the edges just past widest aperture. The lens is quite hand-holdable with FF cameras at modest ISOs without the need for VR, and comes in a durable and compact package. It is not light but the optical quality is professional grade throughout its range. Quite a compliment to my D800s. Perhaps the most endearing attribute is, like other Nikon pro lenses, it controls highlights better than most, so you have fewer blowouts - this compared to many other lenses I have used over the years and those I presently own. This is a fine a lens as I have ever owned, and there are 8 other lenses in my current arsenal, mostly primes. Hands down this beats the competition and I look to use this for my landscape and street projects. Fantastic work by Nikon.

This lens performs beautifully even wide open on my D600. The images are quite sharp to the edge of the full frame even at f1.8 and unlike most prime lenses, the overall sharpness does not greatly improve with stopping down. I am surprised and amazed. Nikon's f1.8 lenses just seem to get better all the time. Knowing that comparing a zoom to a prime is not quite fair, but since I have been thrilled with my 18-35 AF-S G lens, I did a fairly scientific comparison, and this 24mm is sharper across the frame at f1.8 than the zoom lens is at f5.6 at the same focal length!

When it comes to capturing the world in its full grandeur, the Nikon 24mm f/1.8G ED AF-S NIKKOR Lens stands as a paragon of optical excellence. This wide-angle lens, renowned for its versatility, offers an expansive field of view, making it an ideal choice for landscape, architecture, and street photography. Its impressive f/1.8 maximum aperture ensures superior performance, even in challenging lighting conditions, making every frame a masterpiece.
The heart of this lens is its advanced optical design, featuring both aspherical and extra-low dispersion (ED) elements. The aspherical lens, with its unique non-spherical surface, effectively minimizes aberrations, delivering images that are sharp and detailed, even at the widest aperture settings. The ED glass element, on the other hand, corrects chromatic aberrations, ensuring vibrant and stunning imagery every time you press the shutter.
The Nikon 24mm f/1.8G ED AF-S NIKKOR Lens also boasts Nano Crystal and Super Integrated Coatings. These innovative anti-reflective technologies work in harmony to reduce internal lens element reflections, effectively combating lens flare and ghosting. The result is images with enhanced contrast and color accuracy, elevating your photography to new heights.
Experience the revolution in autofocus technology with the Silent Wave Motor (SWM). This system uses ultrasonic vibrations, instead of a traditional gear system, to provide fast, accurate, and near-silent autofocus. The M/A mode allows for a seamless transition from automatic to manual focusing, giving photographers the control they desire.
Despite its compact size, this lens is packed with unique features that impress. The High Refractive Index Lens (HRI) delivers unparalleled optical performance, comparable to multiple standard glass elements, while maintaining a compact form. The Internal Focusing (IF) system ensures that only the internal lens group shifts during focusing, keeping the lens lightweight and compact. The Rear Focusing System, marked with an 'RF' on the lens barrel, moves only the rear lens group during focusing, ensuring faster focusing and maintaining the lens's physical length.
As the latest addition to the esteemed lineage of NIKKOR f/1.8 primes, the Nikon 24mm f/1.8G ED AF-S NIKKOR Lens is a testament to Nikon's unwavering commitment to innovation and performance. Whether you're capturing sweeping landscapes or the intricate details of everyday moments, this lens will help you see the world through a new lens.
