Questions & Answers

EDGAR M : Hello, it works good with the Nikon Df?
Erika W : How will this work with a D800? Is there any curvature to the lines (horizon, etc?)JAMES B : A decent wide angle on my D810. And it's hard to beat the price!BOB K : It will work fine with a D800 since it is an FX lens. I have noticed no apparent distortion in any of my photos with it.
Richard W : Will this work with a d3300?Don B : Yes it will. It's a great lens, enjoy.BOB K : It will mate and have full functionality. However since the D3300 has a DX sensor, this FX lens will be an effective ~38mm. Look for a DX 28mm if you want that focal length. Good luck.

Lens for short years

I work part time photography, since I do mechanical work as main job. I bought this lens in 1999, the Nikkor 28mm f2.8AFD, During the past 17 years, I used this lens not much since I have a 1979 28mmF3.5 AI and a 1978 28mm F2.8 AIS, both manual focusing lenses and this crappy one AFD from 1999, is already broken. The spring/pin returning the diaphrgm to the full opening after closing to take the picture. Also the construction overall is not half those two mentioned previously. The reason I am all the time looking for those old AI and AIs lenses is obvious here...and AI, even better than AIs. So Autofocus lenses are out of my arsenal, with the exception of a couple of teles for Sports....AF lenses???NOT GOOD...

This is a great lens for the money

This is a great lens for the money. How could you go wrong, it's crisp and clear, and great for landscapes, or indoor shoots...

Being 'wide' is not necesarily 'fat.'

I am trying to be esoteric with the "Review Title." The lens is inexpensive, so in essence this lens doesn't have a 'fat price tag.' I came up with an idea, which I called, the "Fixed-Focal-Length Weekend." The plan was to shoot with only using fixed-focal lenses over the Fourth of July Weekend. Once I got to the wider lenses, I realized that I needed to move closer to the subject to increase the image size of the subject while at the same time lessening the empty foreground that distract from the subject. About 80 percent of the time, I used my zoom lenses. The Fixed-Focal Length Weekend gave me an opportunity to re-familiarize myself with the ‘prime lenses’ in my camera bag.

Hard to let go of...

Bought it to use at my brother's wedding... impressed by its performance, even shooting indoors hand-held and without flash. Great photos all the time.

The best deal for a wide angle

My favorite thing about this lens is how quickly and closely it will focus. I was feeling limited by my 85 1.8 and needed something wider.. I love the color and clarity of this lens. Of course it is not a "pro" level lens but I am a professional photographer and use it with gorgeous results. It's just the right angle to get a lot of scene in without the sometimes unwanted distortion around the edges. I use mine for environmental portraits and I love the results. If you can't afford the 14-24 or even a wider prime, this one will really do the trick.
