Using this lens with my D7200, I am able to capture sharp pictures in almost any lighting conditions. If you like portraits with bokeh, this lens is superb. If you like to capture fast moving subjects (e.g. sports activities or fast moving targets like hummingbirds), this lens is also outstanding. The images shown were taken during a family vacation. I really love this lens. It's truly a jack-of-all trade.

Using this lens with an D3300 for wildlife photography and having difficulty getting sharp bird photos, especially at 300mm. I understand from reviews that the Nikon 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6E VR AF-P lens focuses quicker for this type of work. Would this lens focus faster on a body with more auto focus points such as D7500?

Hello there, I am a young nature photographer who has used this lens for an entire year. It has been quite a good lens, I love how sharp the focus can get and it has captured some tricky birds in flight. The vibration reduction really, really helps get the clarity of the photographs, and it focuses quite well. There is one downside only: The focus is just a little bit slow. I have missed some really good shots just because of a split second focus lag, and it is disappointing, but throughout this year, I am still satisfied with this lens. I highly recommend it to DSLR beginners who are wildlife photographers and like to shoot in sports mode, and who are on a budget, because this lens is really good for a low price. Even though this zoom lens can reach 300mm, I have stumbled through moments where my subject (say, a bird) is too far and I must slowly get closer in order to get a good shot before it flies away. And that is a good thing, because it challenges me and I learn how to get closer to birds without scaring them. This lens with a Nikon D3300 is a good combination.

At 399.99 this is considered a "cheap" I use this for bird photography and while a longer lens (hello 200-500mm) would be more productive. I get decent BIF and perch shots. Well worth the price of admission

Use mostly for wildlife photos. Works smoothly on Nikon D300S. Is lighter weight than Sigma 70-300,consequently not as rugged, but works better than the Sigma.

All around nice tele for those who don't use one often. (me) The VR is fairly effective. It's reasonable sharp. A little slow. Light weight (compared to faster lenses of the same relative length.) If you shoot it at 200mm and beyond, use a tripod. Summary: If you don't do a lot of telephoto work and just want to have a long reach in your bag for those times you can't get close enough, this is a very good lens for the price. If you shoot wildlife or sports regularly, it's not professional grade.

Great autofocus. Vibration reduction works. Used while on a safari. Lens was great and was able to get shots even while vehicle moving or coming to a quick stop.

A great compliment to the 18-55 kit lens that comes with most cameras.
