Questions & Answers

bruce b : Is this the right filter for my nikon p510 camera?MARLENE L : I used these filter on the Nikon 5100. They were the correct filter for this camera. The work perfectly, very satisfiedROBERT H : no one can tell you the correct size. then paperowrk should tell you. if not then simply call nikon and they will gladly tell you. sorry could not help moreRANDALL R : I don't own this camera but if you check out dpreview online and search Nikon P510 52mm filters under the Forums section you may find the answer - it appears that a 52mm filter will work but according to the forum entries it DOES NOT. There is also a listing for attaching a filter to the camera, a 49mm filter, but it is a bit of a kluge. Also, there is no mention of a filter in the manual or the accessory list and on the bottom of page 7 of the online manual it says "Do not attach other than the lens cap to the lens". Again I don't have one of these cameras so I am only getting this information online but it appears that in any event it is a 49mm not a 58mm and a bit of a photo project to make it work. Hope this helps.CLAIRE B : The P510 does not have a filter thread on the end of the lens. There are ridges, but those are for the lens cap to grip. One P510 owner indicated that according to the Nikon P510 manual "Lens Cap : Do not attach other than the lens cap to the lens." According to the Nikon website, the only CoolPix camera a 58mm filter fits is the P7700.
Terry B : does this also fit the smaller lens on a Nikon? I know this will fit the D7000 but do not know about the 55 to 200mm Nikon DXJEFF R : No. You need to look at your lens size which is located on the bottom of your lens. When your lens is attached to your body, turn your camera upside down and look on the lens. It my case under Nikon at the end it has the diameter symbol and the lens size 52. The Diameter symbol is a O with a / through it. I purchased both the 52 mm diameter and the 58 mm diameter for my 55; 1.8 G lens. Hope this helps.MURALI Y : Hi Terry, This filter doesnot fit the 55 - 200mm Nikon DX lens (which is 52mm size). Take a look at your lens specifications(either paper or online) - the filter size will be listed. Cheers, Murali YMARK W : The 55-200 uses a 52mm filter. You can get a step down ring 58mm-52mm and use the filter on the 55-200.Carra C : No. You will need a 52 mm filter set to fit that lens.
Tom C : how do you determine which filters are compatible with Nikon D3000?BLAINE W : Look at the specs on the D3000 to see what the specification for filter ring size is. (i.e. 58 mm, 70 mm or whatever it is for the D3000)MATTHEW M : Tom C, I'm not sure I completely understand your question. Filters are compatible with lenses, not cameras. Having said that, I assume you're asking if this filter is compatible with the lens that the camera ships with. If so, then no. If you buy the camera with the lens in a package deal, it ships with the 18-55mm Zoom-NIKKOR VR which is a 52mm lens. As such, this filter will be too big. Hope this helps. MatthewJOHN T : The filter actually mounts on the lens. It is more on the lens' diameter rather than the camera's model. Look at the specs of your lens. The clear filter helps to protect the glass of your lens.GREG N : The filters have nothing to do with camera and all to do with lens your using. Just look on side of lens and match up lens size 58mm,52mm,etc.. and you should be fine. If you don't want the polorized I would for sure put a clear on my lens for protection. ThanksMURALI Y : Hi Tom, First you need to determine what lens(es) you have on your Nikon D3000. In my case I have a "AF-S DX Nikkor 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR" lens. Look up the page for your lens on Nikon website. The "Tech Specs" tab for your lens on Nikon website which lists the filter size and filter size. The "Accessories" tab lists all the compatible accessories, including filters. That's how I determined what filters to purchase for my lens. Hope this helps, -- MuraliCLAIRE B : If you are asking what is "compatible" in terms of size, check the lens specs itself. It should tell you the filter size & filter type. I purchased this filter set for a Nikon 50mm f/1.4G prime lens, which uses a 58mm screw-on filter for use on my Nikon D3100 (simliar to your D3000). If you are asking what is "compatible" in terms of taking an actual photograph, it entirely depends on your personal preference & what you are photographing. If you are shooting something like water or glass, a circular polarizer would be helpful to cut down on the glare. The NC (Neutral Clear) is basically a protector for the lens. The rest of my lenses use 52mm filters, but I rarely have the need for the a circular polarizer. I purchased this 58mm polarizer & a 52mm to 58mm step-up adapter ring to use with my 52mm lenses.

Great quality

Over the years, Nikon has established itself as a trusted brand in the world of photography, and this 58mm Filter Set is no exception. This set includes a 58mm NC Neutral Clear Filter and a 58mm Circular Polarizer II Thin Ring Multi-Coated Filter, both designed to enhance your photography experience.

The 58mm NC Neutral Clear Filter is a colorless filter, making it suitable for both color and black and white films. Its primary function is to serve as a permanent lens protector, safeguarding your valuable lens from dust, scratches, and other potential damages. The filter is multi-coated, a feature that minimizes reflection at the filter surfaces, thereby reducing flare and ghosting. This ensures that your images remain clear and sharp, free from any unwanted distortions.

On the other hand, the 58mm Circular Polarizer II Thin Ring Multi-Coated Filter is designed to combat the adverse effects of polarized light. Light reflected from shiny surfaces like water or glass can negatively impact image definition. This circular polarizing filter works to reduce or even eliminate these unwanted reflections, enhancing the overall contrast of subjects in low-contrast situations.

Moreover, this filter is particularly effective in dealing with sky reflections, which are typically polarized due to atmospheric reflections and dispersions. By cutting these reflections, the filter can make the sky appear bluer and intensify colors, adding depth and vibrancy to your images.

This filter set stands out for its thin and lightweight design, which reduces vignetting on wide-angle lenses. The multi-layer coatings on both sides of the filters further reduce ghost images and flare, ensuring optimal image quality. Additionally, the filter thread on the front of the filter allows for easy attachment of lens caps and hoods.

In summary, the Nikon 58mm Filter Set, including the 58mm NC Neutral Clear Filter and the 58mm Circular Polarizer II Thin Ring Multi-Coated Filter, is a comprehensive solution for photographers looking to enhance image clarity, contrast, and color intensity.
