Questions & Answers

Shopper : Do these come with a neck strap?PATRICK B : YesREX W : Yes they do come with a neck strap. I have had mine for two years and am very happy eith themDAVID W : I do not have this particular binocular but the Adorama web site lists that it does have a neck strap in the box. In my experience the neck strap that comes with most items is not very good and if you want one more comfortable to hang around the neck try an Op Teck USA or similar brand which I use on mine.
John W : Can these be mounted on a tripod?JEROME W. B : Yes, but at 6X that is redundant !DAVID W : There is no tripod on these binoculars.ROBERT B : Not without fabricating a clamp to hold them.
nancy b : trying to find some bionculars for a n 8 year old but a mature boy would these be the ones?STEPHEN J. W : Look at the Pentax also, they have some great small form binoculars, very easy to use and light.Craig M : These would be better suited for a mature teenager.CHARLES C : Looked through a bunch of them at Yellowstone. I tested many different kinds of spotting scopes. I found Kowa to be the best spotter for ANY money, and the Nikon Monarch or a Leupold to be the best binoculars. The Zeiss are too finicky for me. I used a pair and didn't make a season before bringing out my old Nikons. If you just want to spend money, buy a Zeiss, Swarovski or Leica. Then you can spend all your time babying your purchase, or buy a quality Nikon or Leupold and enjoy seeing the scars of usage with a smile. GOD BlessSAM E : very good binocs. small size might be an issue for an 8yr oldBRIGHAM J : This is a good choice. Because I purchased a pair of 10 power Pentax binoculars, I was asked to weigh in. The Nikon compacts are better suited for your son. 8 power should be just right. The 10 power Pentax are better suited for viewing objects a great distances in open country. They are bulkier and heavier. I purchased a pair of 8 power compact binoculars for my grandaughter when she was six. The were made by Steiner. Nikon is a good company; the quality should be good. My grandaughter uses hers in many settings, from our wooded yard, to near by National Forrests. They are light and durable. Good luck.John G : I would not recommend a compact zoom binocular for an 8 year old. I think that he would do better with a single power of 8 or so. Anything above 10 power is extremely difficult to use without a tripod. Nikon Monarch 8x42 binoculars are very nice but they cost more than the ones that you are considering.LINDA H : no, I would not recommend these for anyone, child or adult, for general use. They are very compact but not easy to focus and not easy to follow a subject. I suggest something with a wider field of view - even tho they will be heavier, they will be easier to use and therefore more rewarding for the user I think. The Nikons are a very good binocular, but I use mine only for times when light weight or compactness are important. Otherwise I use my Zeiss, which are quite expensive, but by far the best binoculars I have ever owned.

Just right for our needs....

We use the binoculars for building inspections as part of our stewardship of historic properties. They give us a great way to examine the upper exteriors. To that end, the Nikon has been quite effective. Easy to use, light-sensitive enough to see details, and easy to focus and handle.

Nice idea, poorly executed

The glass in these binocs does not transmit light well. I get a brighter, clearer image with a $40 Carson monocular. These were returned, immediately!

small clear pocket zoom binoculars

I looked at these while in L.L. Bean. Decided to get a pair. For their size, they are bright and clear with good optics. Top zoom at 24 is hard to hold still but still gives a good, quick view. 8x to 16x very clear. I'm glad I got these to take when I travel.

Very impressed

I use the Nikon 8-24x25 Aculon T11 Binoculars for mostly for nature, spotting birds and critters. But also for checking out roofs, antennas and power lines. I have a big Nikon 12x56, and a Carl Zeiss set that was a waste of money. The Nikon 8-24x25 are just as good, lighter, way way cheaper.

Fine Travel Binoculars

Bought these as replacements for a Pentax that was good but destroyed by 9yr old kid. These have a better zooming mechanism and better overall quality. Used predominately for travel; very good optics, reasonable weight and size, and well balanced usual trade wrt zoom.

Powerful compact binoculars

I wanted a lot of magnification power and the Nikon 8-24x25 has it. It is a little awkward to use/focus, but well worth the learning curve

Nikon's ACULON T11 Zoom 8-24x25 is a portable, pocket-sized binocular that is now available in two new and fun colors: white and blue. The diminutive frame of the ACULON T11, combined with Nikon's legendary optics, makes this binocular an extremely versatile option that can be used in a wide range of activities or simply stored within arm's reach.

This binocular is made with high index BaK4 prisms and bright, multicoated optics with multiple layers of anti-reflective compounds to provide excellent brightness and resolution. It features a 25mm objective diameter and a 3-time zoom capability that allows users to zoom to 24-power for a close-in view. A unique, centrally located zoom control lever enables the user to change magnification power with the push of a finger.

The ACULON T11 Zoom measures 4.8" x 4.3" and weighs only 10.8 ounces. It fits neatly in a coat pocket, purse or glove box. Its sleek ergonomic styling allows a better, more comfortable grip on the dual-hinge polycarbonate body. Along with the new white and blue models, the ACULON T11 also is available in red and black.
