Questions & Answers

DON J : Are these brand new or refurbished?DAVID M : Mine were brand new.DAVID R : No these are new in the box. I often buy refurbished and have yet to be disappointed. I have gotten to the point that I think refurbs might even be better as they usually have been checked more thoroughly. But like I said, these were brand new.BRENT B : My pro staff 7 were brand new, and they are the best binocular for the buck on the market. I wear glasses which is a serious problem buying binoculars....and these are absolutely amazing. Great in low light situations. If you purchase, I guarantee you will be satisfied. I am one of those very critical people when it comes to my passion (bow hunting). I truthfully buy the very best I can afford. I am 100% satisfied with these pro staff 7 binoculars.
Shopper : Are you sure this model has a porro prism? According to Nikon, it seems to be a roof prism.HECTOR G : I have no ideaDAVID R : Yes it is obviously a roof prism. It does have phase coating so it should be just as sharp as a porro prism. It is about as optically sharp as it is possible to make one, at least in the center of the field. It does seem to be a bit sensitive to eye placement, just a little off center and you can see the view becoming fuzzy at the edge. Overall more than satisfied with it. I own an older Carl Zeiss 10X40 roof prism and the Nikon is sharper tho current Zeiss models are probably a different story.Stephen M : These binoculars are roof prism, you can tell by their shape the top and bottom lens are in a straight line. A porro prism would be offset the bottom lens are out further than the top.J P : Looks like you are correct, checking the Nikon site. I bought mine for my wife about a month ago - they're great and somewhat lighter than my Action 8X40 8.2.

At last! I can see something!

I am a beginning bird watcher. Someone told me that I didn't need to spend more than 7 or 8 hundred dollars for a good pair of binoculars. A lot of money for a beginner. These Nikons are a great buy for someone starting out. Easy to focus, crisp image, waterproof, and well priced.
