This stand was included with the Nikon SB-800. It's useful for quick setups where a speedlight might be set on a piece of furniture and bounced off a white wall or ceiling. I use them to get decent lighting for quick setups of products for a friend's eBay sales. I recommend having a few spares around. This product is probably discontinued. If so there are very similar stands available from Nikon and probably other suppliers.

I often times will use one or two Nikon speed lights with my Profoto D2 and D1s for studio lighting, and the Nikon AS-19 makes it even more convenient to place them anywhere the extra light is needed. I have also used speed lights outdoors like on deck railings for product photography. I always keep several stands in my equipment bag for quick access when I haul around my speed lights and lighting equipment. Simple and fast to set up and use.

This Nikon Speedlight stand allows Nikon speedlights to stand independently of the camera. It enables photographers to flexibly light. I use these stands for real estate photography to light different parts of rooms. They are lightweight, sturdy, and reliable.

This stand works great with my old D-80 speed lights. No other stand will hold them. I like that it has ports on 3 sides to slide the speed lights into. It does not work however with my SB-600.

I use this for off camera flash as a stand alone or attached to light stand or tripod. Solid little stand with a steel threaded insert.

Thought it would be larger. Picture was deceiving. The one that came with my flash is bigger. A larger footprint would make it more stable.

Now able to quickly move the speedlights to capture candid shots as the family or kids move from room to room. Just pick them up and place on any horizontal surface. I point the speedlight to the ceiling with the white bouce flash extended. Get well-lit images that are sharp (they act as a strobe and stop action) despite always-in-motion young boys.

Does exactly what it should and is typical Nikon quality. Brass tripod mount unlike some off-brand alternatives.

This is not one of them flimsy stands. Is a solid well-made flash stand usable for any kind of flash. I haven't seen anything better.

It does exactly what it says it will do. Lightweight, easy to use, has 1/4" threads for attaching to a tripod and slot on top for your speedlight. Great for getting your flash off camera for portraits.

I once bought a cheaper [*] and it failed me. I attached my flash to it and my light stand. You can already guess what happened. I moved the stand with my flash atop it and the flash fell off and hit the dirt. It failed to lock in securely. When your trying to protect your expensive camera equipment don't trust anything else but the manufacturers replacement items. They always are your better choice!

Not only does this stand support any Nikon Speedlight so that you can set it on a table, etc., it has a socket on the bottom so that you can mount the unit on a tripod or a Gorillapod and put it anywhere you want. Very handy!

No-one ever writes reviews on things like this, but I think it works perfectly and enhances the effectivity of the CLS!
Not just for Nikons

We had a family Christmas party. I have 2 of these stands and I used it with a couple of Nikon SB-26 in slave mode. They attached perfectly on tripods and you now have a mini-studio of sort in your very own living room. My family pictures came out perfect and well lit. The brass screw-nut is wonderful. It can hold any brand of flash that has a hot-shoe.
For mounting remote Nikon Speedlights when used for wireless operation, can be attached to a tripod or light stand.
