BS-2 works great
This BS-2 cover works great for my Nikon D500, D850, and D5. Good fit. I needed one because the D850 came without it.

Good Protection-Works Best for Cameras without Pop-Up Flash
I got these for extra protection for a pair of D700's and a D300 for a trip (yes, they fit even though they are designed for the D3 series). They do prohibit the pop-up flash from popping up, so they have to be removed for using the on-camera flash. That's OK for me for the added bump and moisture/dust protection.. They obviously work best for bodies without pop-up flashes. They are excellent on my bodies.

inexpensive hot shoe protection
This hot shoe cover functions just as you would expect. I decided to keep these on my cameras full time since my last service required a new hot shoe for one of my bodies. I keep them in place with a small bit of gaffers tape.

Step Up from Nikon BS-1
The BS-2 and Nikon BS-1 protect the hot shoe contacts from dust and moisture when not in use. However, BS-2 covers the entire unit. On the D810 and D800e, BS-2 must be removed to use the pop up flash. Also, you need to press down on the BS-2 to slide it off the hot shoe.

Great for Nikon Professional SLRs
I use this on my Nikon SLR bodies that do not have an in-camera' flash: F-5 & F-100. The same would apply for a D-3, D-4, D-2 or F-6, however it will obstruct the in-camera flash from popping up on lesser models such as a D-90, D-7000 or D-300.
It does especially well in protecting the hot-shoe from mist, water, dust or mud. It also looks good on the camera and with its sloping design, doesn't hang up while placing or removing the camera from its case.

Nikon Hot Shoe Cover
This is a great product to protect the sensitive "Hot Shoe" electrical contact area that is used for external flash attachments and other accessories.It keeps moisture and dust away from the electrical contacts. In my travels to Alaska and other harsh environments, I would not be without this product.

Much better design than the BS-1
Much improved over the BS-1 design, and it looks great on a D3/D3s/D3x
Too bad they don't have a design like this that works with the pop-up flash dslr's (since the cover is larger it does not allow the built in flash to pop up).
The only reason why I give it 4 stars out of 5 is because the price is really outrageous when you think about it.
