This camera replaced my Nikon FM-2. Camera controls and operation extremely well thought out: particularly tactile feel. Clear, bright viewfinder with easy to see display. Frequently used features customizable. A work house.

I have my F100 for several years, shooting hundereds of rolls. It continues to be bullet proof. Have not had any problems or any need for service. If one loves shooting film this camera is a bargain at its current price. I paid a lot more when it first came out. However, with the many cameras I own the F100 is one purchase I'll never regret.

I bought this camera as an upgrade from a Nikon N50 - and was it ever! It has provided many trouble-free years of service. I have used it on vacations to Washington D.C., Washington state, Northern California, and Alaska to name a few, and it has never let me down. The build quality is such that you believe you have something special - it is one solid machine. It is a bit complex if coming from a simpler camera, so reading the manual is a must to get the most out of it. Today it serves me well along with my digital SLR's (such as the D200) and often reminds me of why I like film. And with the current prices, this is a great deal as well. Highly recommended.

If you love shooting film, you should love this camera. I've used mine for several years and, in spite of also owning a D200, I haul out the F100 just to keep my love for film going. It may be a little heavy, but that's because of it's tank-like construction. On the whole, this is one of the best cameras I've ever owned and I've owned a lot of 'em.

I've had my F100 for two years now, put a huge number of rolls through it, never had any problems. The only gripe I have with it is the less than optimal battery life, but as AAs are available pretty much everywhere, that's a minor niggle. The autofocus is wickedly fast & accurate. I couldn't be happier with this excellent piece of engineering.

I WOULD NOT BUY THIS CAMERA AGAIN. IT FUNCTIONS WELL UNDER NORMAL CONDITONS BUT VERY POORLY IN HOT TROPICAL CONDITIONS. TWICE NOW IT HAS TOTALLY MALFUCTIONED.ONCE IN CHINA AND ONCE IN VIETNAM. THE PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE IN THE FILM WINDING SYSTEM. IT HAS THE SAME NEGATIVES AS A TYPICAL COMPUTER IN VERY HOT HUMID WEATHER. REALLY, NIKON SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF ITSELF FOR RELEASING SUCH A CAMERA. I HAVE HAD THEIR PRODUCTS FOR YEARS AND AM SERIOUSLY CONSIDERING CHANGING TO ANOTHER MANUFACTURER.

With innovative built-in Nikon F System technology more sophisticated than ever, the F100 makes precise, responsive Dynamic Autofocus so fast that images literally pop into focus. The camera also works perfectly with every AF Nikkor lens, AF-S Nikkor, AI Nikkor and more.
The F100 features Nikon's 3D Matrix Meter, for exposure control that has been developed through over a generation of innovation. There's Spot and Center-Weighted Metering, too. And Nikon's Automatic Balanced Fill-Flash System is uncanny at showing up that touch of extra light for more perfect exposures and cover page pictures.
For extra dependability, the chassis, top, bottom and front covers, and selected parts are constructed of rugged magnesium alloy metal.
By expanding your choices and meeting your need for a smaller, lighter camera, all without sacrificing ruggedness, the F100 joins the Nikon F5 as a camera of choice among the world's best. In short, it's one tough camera destined to take whatever kinds of the world's greatest pictures you want to take. That makes it truly worthy of the name Nikon F100 - Professional.
