First off, concerning the lens hood. It seems to be really sturdy and would work like it should. It did not fit my lens because I ordered the wrong hood.Secondly, the service department for Adorama was amazing! even though I made the mistake the return and exchange process was very smooth and not trouble at all. They processed it and had the correct hood at my door within a few days of receiving the other one back.The correct hood I have now is also sturdy and works as it should. Clicks into place just fine and securely in both normal operation mode and storage mode.

I look none further than ADORAMA online, when I need anything camera related for my Nikon DSLR. Other than not staying on the lens it was coupled with, this was a fine product. Cheap and poorly engineered. At least the one I got. I never had a problem with Nikon lens hoods. This one stinks.

While it does the job to protect the lens and block some lights from the side, it is also very fragile. My 2 year old son held my camera and dropped it from one foot height The hood broke on the ring, this is the first and last drop the hood took.

I bought this for my AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-55mm VR II Lens. I've been using the lens for ~1 year. Is the lens essential? Probably not. I wanted the add the hood to cut down on extra light, like a bright day at the beach or out in the snow. The hood fits perfectly to the lens that I bought earlier from Adorama.

I purchased this hood to offset light into the lens while taking photos. It fits any "F" style 52 MM Lens without issues, both forward and backward. It also has two alignment marks that match up with the lens to show where to start and when it is locked. Good product! I was warned about buying non genuine products for my camera. You can probably get this hood as a Chinese knockoff for a lot less but.....you be the judge.

Perfect "tulip" shape to avoid vignetting and easy to use bayonet mount. Hood can be mounted reversed for storage. Please note!!! This hood will not fit the older Nikkor 18-55mm f3.5-5.6G lens, which uses the HB-45 hood. The HB-69 is designed exclusively for the GII (commonly referred to as the "VRII") lens. Also, I highly recommend that you stay with Nikon only hoods for either lens. There are cheap knock offs that are what they are; cheap! Proper fit is questionable with these cheap substitutes (I learned by making the mistake of buying one).

This bayonet type hood slips smoothly into the mount on the lens. I have been shooting with it on only twice, but it helps with glare without causing shadow.
