After trying several off brand lens hoods and finding that they did not work at the widest angle with filters attached, I purchased Nikon HB-75 Bayonet Lens Hood which is specifically designed for the AF-S DX 16-80mm f/2.8-4 Lens. Problem solved. But at $ it is not inexpensive.

Good shape fallen down camera broken but save camera body

I bought this lens hood after I accidentally broke my original one. The cost was more that I expected but no more expensive that any other place a checked out. Works just like new like nothing ever happened .

It’s big and bulky compared to most lens hoods, but it does it’s intended purpose well. However I’ve found that my old HB-35 that came with my 18-200mm lens also fits the 16-80 this good is intended for, and I’ve left this hood at home since then.

Big and bulky but practical

I couldn't disagree more with the previous reviewer, I've been thrilled with the performance of this hood and I'm happily buying a replacement now that it's been damaged.

It held up to the abuse of 1700 miles driving and over 70 miles hiking all around Iceland. In and out of the car, hiking and rock scrambling, laying on the ground, never a concern at all. It worked great for mixed landscape and portraiture in changing lighting, keeping flare down without ever vignetting.

On the last day of the trip my wife decided to "help" unloading the car and proceeded to drop my D7200 and 16-80. The hood sacrificed itself but there was no noticeable damage to the lens and only one minor scratch on the camera body.

Thrilled to be buying a replacement

Today I received my copy of the Nikon 16-80 f/2.8-4E lens. This hood is included with this lens, however it is too hideous and monstrous, therefore impractical and unusable. This will be the first time I will leave my hood at home ...
