Nothing beats a 50 mm lens for sharpness and no keystoning.

I got this lens for my Nikon D850, I was moving up from a DX s300 which has been very reliable throughout the years and wanted an FX lens for my new camera. To my surprise I found it to be a good fixed lens to have. The focusing motor is a little bit noisy but the close ups I took wife open with this lens came out great. Usually for portraiture I shoot a 75 or a 90 mm. I took around 50 shots of my grandchild and the results were very good.

I got this lens with a Nikon refurbished Df camera. Have used the camera with other Nikkor lenses including this one with excellent results. Others have complained about the Df camera and this lens combo - I found it easy to use. Good sharp images in available light. I use this combo camera and lens on assignments along with the "workhorse" D800.

What can you say. Nikon has been improving this lens for about 70 years. This lens is replacing a manual focus 50mm f/1.4 that is about 55 years old. A side-by-side test shows this lens to be only a tiny bit sharper, but much more contrasty and with better color. Oh yeah, and it's autofocus, too! What's not to like?

Even though I gave it only 3 Stars, it is a good lens. If using for portrait work, it tends to be soft if you are 12 ft or more away from your subject. Closer than that it is TAC sharp. Wish they would build it like the 35 and 85 1.8. But, it is 1/2 the cost.

I am currently taking photography classes at NYIP and wanted a larger aperture lens for portraits, as the lens I purchased with my Nikon D7000 only goes to 3.5. I love this lens, getting a good shallow depth of field.

This was the first lens I got after using the kit lens (on my D3200) for a while and was this ever an upgrade! I decide to go with the prime lens after doing A LOT of research on what lens to get next, and I thought the prime lens would really teach me a lot about photography and improve my skills. After using this lens for about 6 months my photography has improved tremendously. The bokeh is amazing making it a perfect lens for taking portraits. I did a photoshoot for my sisters prom and this lens was perfect. These are a few of the shots. I'm now looking into buying my next lens to mainly use for landscapes and travelling, if there are any suggestions on what lens to go with next it would be greatly appreciated.

I have only had this lens for a few days. Have only played with it a little, with very favorable results. Photos were really sharp. I am excited to do some serious portraits with the grand children.
