This is the second time I'm replacing this lens cap. So I'm on my third one (including the original) since my camera was new in 2018. It's because of the flimsy plastic tension spring design. Nikon needs to go with a better design which I have on my larger Nikon caps with a real spring. I'm not abusive with my equipment and take pride and care of such. Yet despite that, these caps fail. I'm always leery of buying or straying from original replacement products, so I bought another with fingers crossed.

This is the standard Nikon brand lens cap. Purchased to replace one that was lost, it will supplant the similar generic cap to be used when in the field. Pros: easy to attach, nice raised Nikon name. Cons: none

Bought it based on specs and reviews. As an “advanced” amateur who needs results for books, galleries, web pages, I wanted no-compromise on quality of images!!: set “hdr” and click. BUT this camera is a step above. Also has “easy” modes. Just use the default “auto” and camera intelligence is excellent. To go beyond basics read the online manual, find tutorials, relax and spend some time. That effort will take you to amazing results.The standard zoom lens is fine, but not ideal in the darkest situations. I strongly recommend investing in the Nikkor 35 mm lens for best resukts in dark rooms. A “prime” lens. Read the reviews. Cons: may take some effort to use the wifi (bluetooth) link. Easier to quickly load images via memory card or usb.SUMMARY: a good choice for anyone, any level. Worth taking some time to understand the features, but ok to start at “auto” level. Results can match those of the $3,000 pro cameras.(see the Ken Rockwell review to understand why)

Typical a Nikon solution as it seems so simpel, but is designed to perfection in great detail. Just use a non standard cap for a while to find out why this latest design is so good. Nikon made experience in the past with this accessory, so also comparing with caps on old Nikon lenses will also tell you how much this cap has been improved. It is worth every cent you pay for it.

I have no complaint with the excellent customer service from adorama but find that the lens cap does not stay on the camera very firmly. I had to attach a cord with Velcro to both the cap and my camera so I won't lose it(I hope so anyway).

The lens cap arrived quickly and wad exactly like the one I had lost. Only problem was that I ordered 52mm and my lens is 62mm. I reordered and will return the 52mm.

This lens cap snaps on and off more securely than the original one that came with the camera and lens. The service at Adorama is superb with no wait time to talk to a representative on the phone and quick delivery. They are also able to answer all of your questions.
