I have had my Z8 since May 26th.  Overall 5 stars.   It does everything I need and want it to.

I leave the external battery pack on.  I like the way it holds the camera battery door much more than my Z7.  With my 100-400S lens, which I use much of the time, and the ext battery pack, my setup comes in at 6 pounds.  So I lift weights to get that to feel light. 8^)   I like the way the camera feels with the external battery pack, and for what I shoot, I know I will never run out of power or have to switch batteries.  To me the functionality with the additional 1 lb ext pack on far outweighs its size and weight.

Just FYI:  5 stars for focusing both with AF-S and in AF-C 3D.  I had been trying (unsuccessfully with my Z7) to focus on a vocalist whose movements are almost continuous and always unpredictable.  AF-C 3D gives me eyelash sharp pics every time regardless of where and how he moves.

Just FYI:  Right now 4 stars for Silent Mode .  Sometimes it is not silent.
