This is a great lens! Just started using it for events and I'm very happy so far. A little heavier than the stock 24-70 mm but makes up with wider aperture settings. Looking forward to trying it out with portraiture and landscape work.

Excellent lens and a great addition to my Z8 and Z6ii cameras
This is a "beast" of a lens. The build quality it top notch and the quality of the photos are even better. While it is a bit heavy, it is certainly worth the extra carrying weight for the resulting photos. The zoom is smooth and the autofocus is quick and the images are sharp. It is one of those cases where you get what you pay for. Recommended.

A great lens - will be a workhorse
A great lens - will be a workhorse. I am so happy that I save up and sold some equipment to obtain this lens. It is all that I could ask for. The build quality is top notch. It is a beast. While it is a bit heavy, it balances perfectly with the Z8. I am just getting started using the lens, but I envision that it will be on my camera most of time execpt when I need a longer lens, but then I'll put it on my second camera. It certainly makes a difference getting a professional lens with the build quality and image quality. If you can afford it, I recommend it.

Fantastic general photography and portrait lens.
Replaces primes from 24-70 without a loss of quality. If your uses are general photography and portraits and you only buy one lens, this would be a great choice. If it's too heavy and big, try the 24-70mm f/4.

First Lens for My Z9 (Purchased Near New)

Nikorl 24-79 mm 2.8 S Z lens
Great lens but Nikon needs to make a 2x converter to work with this lens it would allow Nikon users to buy a longer zoom and skip the medium length. Of course they are trying to sell lenses I guess. LOL

The gold standard
This lens is now the gold standard of zoom lenses within this range. Yes, it's larger than the kit 24-70, but the payoff is huge unless you are counting ounces for a backpacking trip. For that "epic capture", no need to look at anything else. Too bad Nikon stopped using the gold rings at the rim, because that's the only thing this lacks.

Z 24-200 2.8 review
Nikon user for over 45 years. I decided to plunge into a zoom lens, and glad I did. I've had it 4 months now, taken about 800 pictures. Hard to describe the sharpness and detail this lens provides. It's fast, quiet, and super sharp into the corners. I've taken it on a couple short trips, and really pleased with results.

Nikon sent me a broken lens
I was very disappointed to learn that my factory refurbished lens was broken. I didn?t realize it until we?ll after the 14 day return window, so now I have to pay to fix a lens that I received broken. My advice to everyone: don?t buy refurbished lenses, and always scrutinize you internal lens as much as possible immediately after receiving a lens. I learned the hard way.

Phenomenal Lens !! I own both 50mm 1.8S Prime lens and this 24-70/2.8 lens to shoot travel and family pics. Because of the superior optical performance and mind-blowing color rendition, I end up using this zoom lens almost all the time. Its a no brainer. All YouTubers brainwashed me to get SONY camera, which is good but no fun at all. I am glad I switched back to NIKON and am enjoying ever since !!!

My 24-70 2.8 S for the Z7 arrived Thursday at my local store YM Camera in Youngstown Ohio. Nikon hit it out of the park with this one. The focus is unbelievably fast and the images are tack sharp throughout the the zoom range. At F2.8 indoors low light the corners and edges perfect. Outdoors it preforms perfectly. The NIKKOR Z 24-70mm f/2.8 S is a standard zoom lens that, when used with a full-frame (FX-format) camera, covers a convenient standard zoom range beginning at the wide-angle 24 mm and ending at the mid-telephoto 70 mm, all with a constant fast maximum aperture of f/2.8. This high-performance lens is part of the S-Line, a newly designated grade of NIKKOR Z lenses that adhere to a new benchmark in optical performance, creating new definitions of design principles and quality control.
The NIKKOR Z 24-70mm f/2.8 S demonstrates excellent resolving power that maximizes the potential of high-pixel-count digital cameras like the Z 7, which has an effective pixel count of 45.7 megapixels. Color fringing is significantly minimized with the beautiful, large, natural bokeh unique to the f/2.8 aperture, which makes the lens perfect for shooting highly rendered photographs in a variety of scenes, such as portraits and landscapes, from the maximum aperture of f/2.8. Furthermore, the combination of the larger Z mount with its inner diameter of 55 mm, and a short flange focal distance of 16 mm has allowed the lens to achieve superior optical performance, as well as compactness and lightness for excellent portability. It also offers outstanding movie recording performance with focus breathing control and quiet operation.
A multi-focusing system has been adopted as the AF drive system. Via the combination of multiple AF actuators, the position of the focus groups is precisely controlled. As a result, extremely accurate and high-speed AF control is realized. Also, by drastically reducing aberrations, superb imaging performance is achieved at any focus distance, including close distances.
In addition, the optics that are comprised of two ED glass and four aspherical lens elements utilize not only Nikon's conventional Nano Crystal Coat, but also a newly developed anti-reflective coating known as ARNEO Coat. ARNEO Coat is most effective at minimizing reflections of light passing perpendicularly through the lens, and its use in conjunction with Nano Crystal Coat ensures consistent and incredibly low reflection throughout the entire spectrum of visible light. Therefore, the ghost and flare caused by incidental light are effectively minimized for incredibly sharp and clear images, even when a light source is included in the frame.
