I'm really enjoying the 105 as macro lens and also for portraits. It is sharp and lightweight. This is my first macro lens, so I don't have a basis of comparison - but very fun!

Great transition to a mirrorless body from my Nikon D80. The only downside is that the battery life is not that great.

This camera has reignited my passion for photography and helped push my creative thinking. The feel of it makes it a joy to use, the way you can customize the buttons allow you to hone your process so you spend more time taking photos then playing with settings.

Being a bit of a retro-grouch at times, I didn't expect I'd like this camera as much as I would??.but I realllllllly like this camera. In the past, for Nikon I've owned an N8008s, D40, D80, D3, D3s, D800E, and D810 (still currently own the D810)?.overall my favorite was the D3s, but I think the Z8 may have dethroned it. I like the rear button layout and being able to access the menu, zoom in/out and "ok" buttons with my right thumb. It's the little things like that which makes shooting faster and easier. I do miss the larger, green backlit LCD on top of the DSLR's though. The amount of technology they've packed into the Z8 is quite impressive. Ergonomically, comparing my D810 to the Z8 (comparing to a full-size body like the D3s wouldn't be fair), I like the feel of the D810 in hand better, the Z8 feels a bit blocky?..but I added a SmallRig L-Bracket to the Z8 and it's improved the feel. Not sure why SmallRig discontinued that. I like having an electronic shutter vs. a mechanical shutter (less to wear out), as well as having the sensor shield down when the camera is off/changing lenses. The Z8 renders noise quite well at higher ISO's with black and white conversions?..almost reminds me of shooting Tri-X (grainier) and T-Max (less grainier) from way back. The EVF on the Z8 is quite good, and having the ability to zoom in while using the EVF to manually focus (think macro or anything that requires critical focus) is awesome. I also love finally having a camera with IBIS. Image quality is good but doesn't really look any different than my D810. I'm not sure why Nikon took a step backward with the flash sync speed only being 1/200th now on the Z8 - wasn't impressed with that. I did have a bit of a weird issue with flash triggering during a family portrait shoot yesterday - for some reason, my studio strobe wouldn't fire when set to 1/200th in the flash menu, but when I switched it to 1/200th in high speed sync (this isn't a HSS flash unit), then it triggered normally. Could've been a glitch with either the flash trigger in the hotshoe or the camera, not sure which. I'll have to test to see if I can re-create the problem, but didn't run into that before. Bottom line, if you want a new camera with all the bells and whistles and Z-series glass, the Z8 is great. If you don't need or want all the bells and whistles and are happy with the performance and quality of your D810, D6 or D850 and your G series lenses, then stick with what you have

Upgrade from a Z5 to the Z6iii and it was worth it. Great camara for the value. Accurate and fast. Not a fan of the flip screen but you get use to it.

I love this lens. The focal length range, as well as aperture, for sub $1200, make this such a versatile option. If I can only take one lens when on the road, it is this one. Best bang for the buck and produces some amazing shots.

Solid camera, good hybrid. Only wish some of the menus would make settings more obvious. Also, it is heavy, but feature full, so it makes sense.

Just got out to our local County Fair to try this new camera. It will take a little time to figure it out but right now I am loving this camera. The results are stunning in low light with out a flash and I can not wait to try indoors sports like basketball and volleyball.

Great Buying Experience with Adorama. Sold my camera kit and purchsed a Nikon Zf with extras. Easy sell and buy process. Efran in sales rocks. Love my Nikon Zf. It's the perfect Full Frame Travel, Street and Trail camera. Dials rather then menus. Beautiful images. I highly recommend the Adorama experience.

I really like the speed of the auto focus for my bird photography and facial recognition on people even a long distance away! I like the higher megapixels so that I can crop or pixel peak even up to 400%! Feels great in the hand, even tho a little heavier than my z6's. I should've just bought the Z8 instead of the Z6's esp. since I do a lot of bird photography.

The use case that prompted this purchase was the desire for the depth of field from a short focal length for close-ups of flowers when a tripod was inappropriate. I was pleased, but look at the photos and you be the judge. My only quibble is no digital readout of focal length, no problem that into is included in the photo's meta-data. Only drawback, now I want a full frame zoom of similar focal length for my Nikon Zf. Included photos were shot at 12 mm and f/4 at or near minimum focus distance.

Camera is amazing but this bundle is inconvenient. Black battery does not work. Doesn't charge in the camera by hooking it up like it says in the manual. It did not come with an external charger. The camera bag is tiny. Cannot fit camera and lens in it together.

Nikon colors, swift and reliable autofocus, and a pleasing retro aesthetic combined with an excellent S series lens makes a compelling package. Added a SmallRig grip for easier one-handed carrying, though not at all needed if carrying with a neck strap. Battery life and image stabilization are also first-rate.

After market Battery works find. 5 charges so far. So I save my Nikon ones at 80%. I have some little used 20 year old Nikon batteries which I keep in the cameras still rated as new. Using the flash as a slave with my 40 year old sensors although there is no swivel . Better idea is it lets the model know I am shooting with out effecting the photo due to the long distance. A pre flash is get ready with out any waving to bother others.

Feature-rich camera with minor caveats.

You'd do well to read some of the many professional reviews out there, but this lives up to the hype so far. 240 fps in full HD is everything I wanted, and it has many other advanced features to help me get the shot. I wish the sensor had a few more megapixels so the DX crop could be a bit more than 10 MP; if you're moving up from a DX camera, make sure you have some FX lenses to use or be ready to drop some cash on new lenses. The eye sensor is a little flaky sometimes, being a bit too sensi...

Best ever!

Sharper, smaller, and lighter than the original f-mount version, which was already considered by everyone outside of Canon fanboys as the best slr lens ever made. You do the math!
Where precision meets portability, the NIKKOR Z 40mm f/2 Lens emerges as a stellar choice for photographers who demand versatility and quality in their images. This ultra-compact prime lens is engineered to deliver a classic 40mm perspective, striking an ideal balance between wide-angle and standard views. Its fast f/2 maximum aperture excels in a variety of lighting conditions, enabling photographers to capture crisp, clear shots even in low light while achieving a shallow depth of field with a pleasing, natural bokeh effect.
Crafted for creativity, the lens is adept at a wide range of photography genres, from street scenes and sweeping landscapes to intimate interiors and compelling portraiture. The NIKKOR Z 40mm f/2 is not just about its field of view; it's about the quality of the view. The lens design ensures excellent subject-background separation, allowing subjects to stand out with striking clarity against a smoothly defocused backdrop.
The lens' advanced optics are housed in a durable, lightweight body that measures a mere 1.8 inches in length and weighs just 6 ounces, making it an unobtrusive yet powerful addition to any photographer's kit. Its fixed length design means it's always ready to shoot, with no need to extend or retract the lens, ensuring you never miss a spontaneous moment.
For those who delve into the world of close-up photography, the NIKKOR Z 40mm f/2 shines with its close focusing capabilities, accentuating the bokeh effect and giving your images a near three-dimensional quality. The lens' 9 rounded blade diaphragm further enhances this effect, creating a soft, aesthetically pleasing out-of-focus area.
When the sun sets, the NIKKOR Z 40mm f/2 continues to perform. The wide aperture, combined with the larger Z mount, maximizes light gathering, allowing for sharper images in dim conditions and the ability to maintain faster shutter speeds to freeze action without compromising on exposure.
Videographers will appreciate the lens' video-friendly features, including a fast, near-silent autofocus system that minimizes focus breathing, ensuring consistent framing throughout a shot. The click-less control ring allows for smooth, silent adjustments during recording, perfect for making on-the-fly changes to iris settings for a natural transition in light levels.
Autofocus is swift and reliable, thanks to the high-torque stepping motor that operates with precision and near silence, perfect for both Eye-Detection AF and continuous subject tracking. The customizable control ring offers users the flexibility to assign various functions like manual focusing, aperture control, ISO, or exposure compensation, tailoring the lens to their shooting style.
Built to withstand the elements, the NIKKOR Z 40mm f/2 features a dust- and drip-resistant design, with meticulous sealing around the lens barrel and moving parts to protect against the intrusion of dust and water droplets.
This bundle also includes a filter kit, enhancing the lens' versatility and protection, ensuring that photographers can tackle any environment with confidence.
In summary, the NIKKOR Z 40mm f/2 Lens, bundled with a filter kit, is a formidable tool for photographers and videographers alike, offering exceptional performance in a compact, durable package that is ready for any creative challenge.
