Enjoying this camera with various lenses, also using my old f mount lenses with FTZ. Happy to be a Nikon user. Could not ask for more in a camera, although I know the ii is coming out soon. Battery life is great. I also have the Z8, which uses the smaller and older battery type.

Great camera with so much versatility and advantages over a lot of the other high end cameras

Superb when it was released, the Z9 has been made even better by subsequent firmware updates which not only refined existing capabilities, but added important new ones. Superb image quality, even in high-ISO conditions is invaluable in both wildlife and concert photography, as is the brilliant autofocus system with dedicated modes for a variety of subjects. I cannot recommend the Z9 highly enough.

Started with a Pentax ME Super to a Nikon FE, N90S, D70, D7000 and finally to the top- the Nikon Z9. Their cameras and lenses just keep getting better. The Z9 autofocus and speed are amazing for the type of photography I do. For most this camera will do it all. Thanks Nikon for a wonderful tool.

Best camera I've ever owned in the past 40 years, and I've owned flagship models from other brands. Nikon is back on top!

My first truly professional camera, and I'm almost 80. Strictly amateur or hobbyist. So much to learn. But I love it. In about two months I hope to have my work flow set, and I hope to understand most of what I'm doing. I feel like a kid with a new expensive bike.

I have been shooting Nikon since the N90s. I have owned many Nikon cameras but this is my first flagship Nikon. This camera ticks all the boxes, Fast, accurate, capable. The Z9 gives me so much flexibility. It opens up possibilities that were less likely with DSLRs. You get rather spoiled using Z9 and notice this when you pick up a DSLR spare body. Mirrorless is the new reality, it is here, Nikon have hit a homerun with the Z9. I am pre-gobsmacked about what a Z10 could possibly be like. Nikon, please, global shutter. Likes: 20 fps RAW, silent mode, star mode, red mode, long battery life, ergonomics, function buttons, "I" menu, specific focus subjects ie. birds, planes etc, f mount compatibility (with FTZ II) Dislikes: No global shutter, viewfinder needs higher resolution, needs more illuminated buttons.

Wow! what a camera. I have been using it for more than a year now and extremely happy with it. Eye auto-focus is the best I have had. Pictures are crisp (one can count the number of feathers on birds). Focus speed is absolutely amazing and locks on the subject immediately. Extremely intuitive and easy to use. Z9 is a boon for Nikon users.

I have used all the top "Flag Ship" Mirrorless cameras, I had the first Nikon Z7 and a Sony A7. The Z9 is what I hoped that Nikon and the other camera companies would make at the beginning. But Nikon just like everyone else had to evolve and learn over a period of time. The Z9 is the gold standard of where all other mirrorless cameras should be. I would like to say the Nikon ZF is a great daily companion with a Z9. The autofocus on both is top tier. The ZF is just fun to shoot with. Both my Z9 and ZF go with me everywhere. It helps me enjoy photograph and enjoy the memories I create with each shot. Thank you Nikon.

I've had my Z9 for a few months now. I do Bald Eagle nesting research in WV and OH. I'm looking forward to our upcoming 2024 nesting season and switching over from my Nikon DSLRs to totally using the Z9. It's been a pleasure to use so far with Z and F Mount lenses (with the FTZ II adapter). It does have a learning curve from my DSLRs but it has given me something to keep me busy, being Disabled and Retired. Great job Nikon! It was worth the wait!

It is almost my dream mirrorless camera even though I give it 5 stars because its software and ergonomic designs have more room for improvements and its stacked sensor is not a breakthrough technology in terms of signal-to-noise ratio. Since I own it, I hardly put my hand on my D800, D850 and Z7.

Wow!!! I really don't know where to start? I went from a Nikon D3300 to this Nikon Z9. And to be honest, I wasn't even done maximizing my skills of the D3300. But because I shot many family videos and pictures I decided to treat myself with this Z9. And IT IS THE BEST CAMERA I could have asked for. I spend almost every day and night gathering information on becoming an expert in using this camera. I shoot with this camera every day and the shots are so perfect that I can't even explain it. I'm not a pro but yet the pictures looks so professional! Yes the camera is slightly heavy and large but I am so use to it after just a few months of using it. I always know if I made the right choice based on whether or not I would buy it again or see it again(like a new movie) and my answer to this is that, "Hell yeah, I would definitely buy it again". But before I go, within 6 months of owning this camera I bought all the S Line 1.8 lenses, the macro 2.8 and even the PLENA. The 1.8's are amazing considering the low cost factor. I LOVE MY NIKON!!!

I have been shooting BIF with the D850 and 500F4E FL VR for the last 4 years. The mirrorless revolution has redefined the playing field with game changing auto-focus and now subject detection. The Z9 is now king of the hill with the most recent firmware update so I now have one of the best combos ever with my 500F4 glued to my Z9. The commitment Nikon has shown to their new flagship camera is outstanding as they continue to release new firmware updates (unlike Sony that has not added new features to the A1). If Nikon adds the ability to recapture in raw with the next update then they will leave all competition in the rearview mirror!

Moving from the D850 to the Z9 I thought would be a step up, but it is a step into a new universe. The bright viewfinder in low light is phenomenal. 9 FPS to 20 FPS is just wow. Seeing the histogram in the viewfinder is a game changer for me, Being able to use my "F" lenses with the FTZ adapter was key. I haven't used the pre-capture for anything yet, but expect it to come in soooo handy when I need it. I was very surprised to find that silent mode disables the flash! That had me going. I'm still learning what the Z9 can do and probably wiil for the rest of my life. It's really versatile. I'm glad I made the headlong plunge from D850 to Z9.

I came from the D850. This camera vastly increases the odds of "getting the shot". It's way smarter than I am, meaning I'm still learning after 2 year, but I love that about it. My only criticism is that I wish it had 8 shooting banks instead of 4.

The Z9 seemed to be the next right move after owning the D850. Truly silent capture, high FPS raw shooting with identical MP of the D850/Z7ii. What is not to like? I also like the fact that the IQ/DR is nearly on par with the D850/Z7ii. The best part is Nikon's recent adoption of firmware feature additions. It's like getting a new camera for free!!

I went from on hell of a camera, the Nikon D5, to camera that's even better, the Z9. I haven't found anything that it hasn't excelled at, and the jpgs at high ISO, are better than I thought they would be.

This camera does everything well. I love it so much I got a second one. Ergonomically, it makes shooting easier on my hands despite the weight, and the abundance of programable buttons and features keep it flexible for any situation. The firmware updates have made this camera more and more useful and excellent. I hope Nikon continues to support their products in this manner, because it really builds confidence in the company and is more environmentally sound. When Nikon offers an updated version, I'd love to be able to send in the camera and just upgrade the components. That's on my Nikon wish list.

I have been a Nikon camera owner since 1970 and a digital user beginning with the D100. The Z9 represents the biggest move forward I've ever experienced in the line - truly amazing in every way. Suggest that you look at the Plenum 135mm lens for its beautiful bokeh and color rendering.

I'm an avid amateur bird photographer, as well as a lifelong Nikon enthusiast. I've been reading Z9 reviews since the camera was first launched and decided to get one at the end of November 2023. It is, simply put, a fantastic camera. Firmware 4.1 did the trick for me. I own 2 other Nikon DSLRs: a D5 and D850, both also fantastic cameras. The Z9 is my main camera and I use it with a 500mm PF lens (and FTZ II adapter).

After using the excellent D850 this camera was so far ahead! I was able to greatly increase the keeper rate of my favorite birds in flight pictures locking on the eye. The AI is amazing! I do wish for a 1.2 crop feature in a future firmware upgrade. This was there on the D850 which enabled me to use my 500mm pf lens as a light 600mm while retaining adequate megapixels and increasing memory card capacity. I have used this on the D850 a lot.

I am still getting used to the Z9, but so far, it's incredible. I shoot mostly wildlife where focal speed is critical, this is where this camera excels. There is lots to learn and I am excited to do so. Hands down the best camera I have owned. This camera is retiring my D500 which has served me well. I took out to take photos of motocross riders, loved the results.

Amazing camera that increased my capture rate for birds and sports. This is well thought out professional camera. I took 1 star off because I wish the banks would keep you settings instead of being a bookmark of every change I make. I created a work around but hope this will be in a future update.

I've had the d850 for a year and a half now and have enjoyed every minute. The camera is not just one of the best dslr's out there it is built like a tank. And the z9 follows in it's foot steps. which is the only comparison where both camera's are equal from my time with the z9. I don't know if this will change in the future, but the z9 surpasses the d850 virtually at ever aspect. And I'm not talking about frame rates and autofocas. I'm talking about image quality. Noise. Some of the pic...

The Best Nikon camera to date!
By Kevin M.
I want to share my experience with my Z9. I absolutely love it. Dare I say it's the best Nikon camera to date. My Nikon path started with a D5300, to the D850 and Z6, to the Z9. The D850 was my favorite Nikon camera until I started using the Z9. In the very short time I've owned the Z9, I've put 50K images through it. And I haven't even scratched the surface of it's abilities. Jobs have included, two marathons, including the Chicago Marathon. Three portrait sessions, an AKC dog agility eve...
