1.4X teleconverter

I've been very impressed by my 1.4X teleconverter. I am using it with my Nikon 180-600mm lens. Even in low light, I've been able to get really nice wildlife shots.

Not only do I get more reach, I apply it to my 600mm F4 S lens and get great images. My lens focus just as fast with the 1.4 tc attached to It.

Z TC 1.4 was a great purchase

This is a great teleconverter. I coupled it with my Z 100 to 400 and my Z6 II and have used it for landscape and wildlife thus far. The 1.4 TC gives me the extra reach I needed and it provides virtually the same level of sharpness as the lens itself. Although you do lose one stop, it is hardly noticeable.

Z TC 1.4

Using the Z TC 1.4 with my Z 70-180mm, the combination is great for carrying around town or on a hike. I will enjoy this for a long time.

TC-1.4x was a great addition to my lens without much extra weight or size.

I used the TC-1.4x on my 100-400mm z lens and Z8. Wow! The resulting images were very nice. I was taking photos of speakers in a convention hall and the extra reach of the 1.4 was just the ticket for me.

Great add to Nikkor lineup.

Love the extra reach with very little lost in quality. It is heavy for its size for consider this when taking it traveling, but well worth it in my opinion.

Extra reach with No perceptible change in image quality

I have not been a fan of teleconverters in the past as I feel they degrade the image quality and slow the lens speed (aperture). Nevertheless, I thought I would give the new Z 1.4x teleconverter a try and it has changed my opinion about teleconverters. It doesn't seem to cause any degradation in image quality and is as sharp as the lens it is attached to. It now has a semi-permanent place on my Z 100-400S zoom lens, as it is perfect for adding an extra bit of reach to that lens (140-560mm). It is perfect for capturing birds and wildlife in good light.

Spectacular TC

I've used many teleconverters and without question, this one works better than any I've tried before it. There's a reason it costs as much as a lens. It works. It just works all the time. It's best in decent to good light. I see no significant loss of image quality in good light and I see no distortion, etc. Highly recommended.

Great Little TC

This is a great little TC. I have used it with my 100-400mm zoom and it works very well. The size is perfect of inserting into the lens setup. Images are a sharp to my eyes as the zoom itself.

Perfect compliment to specific Z lenses

I could not be more pleased with the Z 1.4 teleconverter for my Z 400mm f4.5 VR S and Z 70-200mm f/2.8 VR S lenses. No distortion and crisp image to the edge. Looking forward to getting closer captures of wildlife and birds in flight.

Excellent 1.4x

I use this TC-1.4x with the NIKKOR Z 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 VR S on a Z8 body with excellent results. Reach is extended out to 560mm and, if circumstances allow, switching from FX to DX mode kicks that range out another 1.5x. Image quality is excellent although at maximum FX extension you'll be shooting at f/8. On reasonably well-lit scenes you can shoot at f/8 and 1/2500 sec with an auto iso that generally remains below 4000, better in sunlight. This can freeze you up a big helping of Black-bellied Whistlers in New Orleans in December. Fun.

Bets teleconverter I've ever owned.

I've owned a few DSLR teleconverters over the past 40 years and the tradeoff was always more magnification, but with a loss in image quality. Nikon has somehow managed to increase the magnification by 1.4 with virtually no loss in image quality. Very highly recommended!

Glad I bought this!

Unexpected surprise! I heard about the 2.0 losing some quality in the photo but it sure came in handy watching 50 eagles. We had a bright sunny day and I cannot honestly tell the difference. Glass I bought this for my z400 4.5!

I have only used the TC with my Nikon 180-600 lens so far. It has worked better than I expected with sharp images on both my Z8 and Z6 II bodies. Having to shoot at F9 and the shorter DOF are two things that make the teleconverter a bit challenging, but that was expected. The photos are sharp enough at 600MM that I have no worries about sharpness with the TC, at lease in the middle of the frame. I've read reviews that say there's a slight loss of sharpness on the edges, but unless I'm shooting in portrait orientation, my subject is near the center of the frame for wildlife photography. Overall, I'm happy with the results I'm getting so far!

A Great Addition to my Camera Bag

Just got this teleconverter to use on the Nikkor Z 180-600mm zoom telephoto which I recently purchased. The results so far are nothing short of great. I was skeptical at first due to a bad experience I had with the "F" mount version mounted on my 200-500mm zoom telephoto. I had that one for only a short time due to the consistent softness of the focus especially at the 500mm level. This teleconverter has no problems throughout the entire range. It does have some occasional auto focus issues in some low light situations, but these can easily be corrected by switching to manual focus. The clincher was a test photo I took of a squirrel on the fence in my back yard mounting the teleconverter and 180-600 on my Z 7II. To get me even closer, I set the pixel setting to the full 45 megapixel setting and set the image six to the DX setting, giving me an equivalent of a 1260mm focal length. I handheld the camera-lens for these photos with the ISO set to 1600. The quality of the resulting photo (which I uploaded) convinced me that I no have a great combination for wildlife and sports photography without breaking the bank. I've also used this lens-teleconverter combination on my Z 6II with equally satisfying results. Hope to have more about my experience so far, but for now the TC-1.4x is a great addition to my camera bag.

Excellent addition to Z telephoto lenses

First teleconverter I've ever used. Does not disappoint. Sharp crisp images seem to be as good as the lens its boosting. With the Z 100-400mm S lens I've shot macro as well as full telephoto with equal results.

I could not be more pleased with the Z 1.4 teleconverter for my Z 400mm f4.5 VR S and Z 70-200mm f/2.8 VR S lenses. No distortion and crisp image to the edge. Looking forward to getting closer captures of wildlife and birds in flight.

Z teleconverter

Compatibility: Nikon NIKKOR Z 70-200mm f/2.8 VR S

Double Down. Lighten Your Load.

For those who chase impossible shots—birders, nature and wildlife photographers, aircraft, sports and action photographers—reach is key. But so is speed, nimbleness and being in the right spot. The Z TELECONVERTER TC-2.0x gives you the best of both worlds, doubling the reach of compatible Z lenses so you can bring shorter, lighter lenses into the field and still get the shot. Optimized for the compact mirrorless Z system, it retains 100% resolution, AF and VR functionality, minimum focusing distances and weather-sealing, all with superb rendering performance.

reach & accuracy

100% More Reach. 100% Resolution.

The lightweight, compact Z TELECONVERTER TC-2.0x doubles the native reach of compatible lenses—without any loss of resolution and outstanding image quality. You might already be approximating this effect with in-camera cropping, but that cuts out over 50% of your image sensor's pixels. With the Z TELECONVERTER TC-2.0x, you can achieve those tight compositions with the full resolution of your sensor by shooting in the native image area of your camera.

Forget It's Even There.

On a compatible Z lens like NIKKOR Z 70-200mm f/2.8 VR S, the Z TELECONVERTER TC-2.0x retains all AF functionality and speed, VR capabilities and minimum focusing distance, with only 2 stops of light loss and very little weight and length gain. The lens' illuminated information panel will even display the correctly converted focal length when using the Z TELECONVERTER TC-2.0x. This is a perfect pairing.

22624Full-Width-Focusing-3_22637.png

Use Every Focus Point.

Like so many aspects of the mirrorless Z system, the Z TELECONVERTER TC-2.0x defies traditional limitations. It can use every focus point of your Z series sensor all the way to f/11—unprecedented for teleconverters. Quickly acquire subjects at the edges of the frame and track them throughout your view.

full width

Make A Big Deal Of Little Things.

The Z TELECONVERTER TC-2.0x can turn a telephoto lens into a macro-style powerhouse. It maintains the close focusing capability of NIKKOR Z lenses while enlarging the reproduction ratio by 2.0x that of the main lens. When used with NIKKOR Z 70-200mm f/2.8 VR S, for example, you can zoom in to 400mm from just 3.28 feet away to reveal the tiniest details.

22624Full-Width-Z-Lenses-2_05000.png

Added Depth & Impact.

NIKKOR Z lenses create some of the most beautiful bokeh effects imaginable. The Z TELECONVERTER TC-2.0x enhances these effects by reducing the depth of field by 50%. This separates your subject from those creamy backgrounds even more, so you can draw attention where you want it to be. Ideal for portraits and wildlife.

22624Full-Width-Fluorine-Coat-2_04108.png

Ready For Tough Conditions.

Teleconverters often need to be taken on or off in the heat of the moment when you're in the field. The Z TELECONVERTER TC-2.0x is built for these moments. It has an anti-slip knurling tread for improved grip. It has Nikon's proprietary non-stick Fluorine Coat on the front and rear elements to make cleaning a breeze. And it has dust and drip sealing equivalent to that of an S-Line lens, ensuring your gear is ready for the toughest conditions.

Aspherical Lens.

A lens with a curved, non-spherical surface. Used to reduce aberrations and enable a more compact lens size. Aspherical lenses minimize coma and other types of lens aberrations, even when used at the widest aperture. They are particularly useful in correcting distortion in wide-angle lenses and help contribute to a lighter, more compact design by reducing the number of standard (spherical) elements necessary. Aspherical lens elements correct these distortions by continuously changing the refractive index from the center of the lens.

Fluorine Coat.

Photographers need gear that can withstand the elements. Nikon’s fluorine coat effectively repels dust, water droplets, grease or dirt, ensuring easy removal even when they adhere to the lens surface. Nikon’s fluorine coat endures a high frequency of lens surface wiping and its anti-reflective effect also contributes to the capture of clear images.

Super Integrated Coating.

Nikon Super Integrated Coating is Nikon's term for its multilayer coating of the optical elements in NIKKOR lenses.
