I can't believe it!
I bought this for my Mosin Nagant M38 carbine and it works! It fits a little loosely but it stays on and does the job, almost no recoil. I recommend this product for use on the M44 only... It does work on my M38 but it may not work on yours. Be sure to shine a light through the bore on both ends to make sure the muzzle brake isn't obstructing the bullet's travel.

Answer to question about fitting 91/30
The short answer is I don't think so. The barrel on the 91/30 is to small. I have fitted it to my model 44 and on a model 38. The fit was loose so I mixed up some JB Weld and filled in the gap and waited one day for it to set up. Worked fine. There is a distinct difference in felt recoil. I also put on a buttpad. To me the felt recoil is less than a model 91/30 without anything extra. It also fixed the muzzle blast coming from my model 44.
