Marie S : Can this be used as a DVR if you add a usb thumb drive?CHRIS R : NO. This is digital converter not recorder.SHERI W : No it won't pick up any cable stations and there is not a record option. You can only get the free basic channels. You have to buy an antenna to go with it.
Shopper : can I use this as a cable tuner?ANDREW R : Unfortunately no. This unit is simply a digital to analog converter allowing older TVs to receive broadcast (non-cable) television signals.

Firmware Flawed

Hardware Great, SOFTWARE THE WORST, product released untested, The firmware on this is full of errors, AVOID, It thinks daily recording is once every 5 days, weekly once every 12 days, midnight bug stops recordings at midnight, Also no DST on off option, similar firmware boxes like iview 3500stb put out update you load through usb many months ago. Charles at Naxa says no update from them, so basically take it or take it, please return these to Naxa or make them release a fix. Coders plugged in a value of 5 instead of a value of 1 somewhere in the code running the box.
